The President Obama Thread: 'Super Bears!' Edition

But Obama is IN THE OFFICE, that puts you on a different playing field....let the economy even grow a little, and start to show a little bit of stability.......that is all it will take. Remember nothing of great significance is happening with Obamacare to show us what it will actually do until AFTER 2012 election. Nice planning on his part....
But it works both ways, any failure also lands right at Obama's feet.

the economy has grown for the last 10 consecutive quarters, but you wouldn't know it the way the conservative media misrepresents everything this administration as done. of course the administration doesn't seem willing to defend their accomplishments very vigorously either.

But as Marx pointed out, economic growth is all fine and good, but jobs are what matters. What are the Dow Jones and Nasdaq other than some numbers on the news to the average person? The fact is, the unemployment rate remains high, and unemployment is usually worse than the rate implies (due to non-reports, kids out of college without jobs, people who hold low quality jobs, etc). Jobs are a true measure of the economy.

ok, but it is a fact that the economy is growing, so the conservative media is being disingenuous in their depiction of it. nobody gives credit to obama for the jobs he saved from the banks and auto company bailouts. i'm not talking about the crooked execs and hedge fund managers either. thousands of middle-class jobs were saved by those bailouts. imagine what the economy would look like now if those jobs were lost.

True, sometimes that does happen, but IMO what will kill Obama's campaign faster than anything with Independents, is if he campaigns for himself the way he campaigned this past mid term election. His rhetoric will kill him, not the economy, or any flip flopping.

If I were the Republican candidate, I would stick to the issues of jobs, spending, taxes, etc......I would say nothing negative towards Obama, I would kill him with kindness in debates, I would have specifically laid out my plan for each of the above. Let Obama commit political suicide.

Economic growth means nothing if it does not turn into job growth. And jobs saved is usually a skewed measurement. True measurement of such a thing is hard to come across.

I agree. I'm just saying that Romney's flip flopping won't look that bad if he is against someone who also flip flops.

we both know that's not going to happen. the gop is way too negative these days.

i have a hard time believing that the republicans would have done any better. it's only been two years.

Maybe so, but the Republicans are not the ones in charge. Barry O. and the Democrats are. Thus the failures are his, not the Republicans.

If the GOP is going to be obstructionist without offering alternative solutions, then they're part of the problem.

...and that strategy is not going to help them in 2012. One of the best things that could happen to Obama is have a GOP 'Party of No' opposing him.

even though he inherited the failures of the republicans and avoided a depression, in spite of their attempts to block all of his legislation just out of spite. you see "failures" where i see "accomplishments".

By 2012 it won't matter what he inheirited. He is the one who ran a messianiac campaign of "change." To go from "We are the change we waited for!" to "Change....but not right away," mid way through his term won't fly.

i agree, though i don't think i'd take it as far as calling it a "messianic campaign".

I don't think that Obama, or his handlers in the campaign produced it to be a "messianic campaign" BUT, the media, and new voters certainly did......they put him so far up on a pedestal that his fall is going to be pretty big. The media is already seeing that....

And let me put a post edit here: IF he falls.....I think he is merely wobbly at the moment.

I agree, but I think once the image was created, Obama had no problem playing into it and encouraging it. Once the image was there, he manipulated it, IMO and used it to get the nomination.

what, like pretending to be christ-like? nah, that's just the image the conservative media try to peg on him.

I think you should take a look at this...

:whatever:

the chosen one was a a title given to him by the conservatve media. I do belive many supportersmybe looked for more then what we got, but if ayhing, where looking for a voiceof a generation then a chosen one.

No, that is the persona that the left leaning media gave him....so much so that even SNL caught on to it.

Maybe SNL was mimicking the right-wing media's interpretation rather than making a lone observation.

His detractors played just as much of a role in the creation of a 'messianic campaign' as anyone else.

the left leaning media never referred to him as a messia. they fawned over him, i'll give you that, but the conservative media really attacked him on it and spread the messia crap to make him seem arrogant and out of touch/elitist.

I'm still of the belief that had the media not propped Obama up, Hillary Clinton would be our president right now.
