It all depends on the scale and context. Galactus as a normal sized guy in a room looks kind of silly. Callactus as someone who's over 1,000 feet tall looming over a city with plants dying, the earth shaking apart with lava errupting to the surface, and the sky blakening as he devours the planet looks fairly indimidating.

True, the guy's scale and power is incredible, and I suppose if it were a lesser powerful bad guy, it would lose some of the effect.

To tell the truth, I never had a problem with the original design in the first place, I only thought the other version I found was a creative way to envision Galactus.
