Days of Future Past The Ranking the X-Men movies thread

1. X2
2. X-Men
3. First Class
4. The Wolverine
5. X3
6. X-Men: Origins

I interpreted Kevin Bacon's slight movements as him fighting the hold on his mind, as Xavier was struggling to lock him down due to his immense power.

My ranking:

1. First Class
2. X1
3. The Wolverine (Unrated version)
4. X2
5. Origins
6. X3

First Class really nails it for me, I love young Xavier and Magneto. X1, Wolverine and X2 are so close together for me, I just prefer X1 a hair more, but I find them all somewhat flawed.

X2 in particular I put on the lower tier because the last act doesn't do much for me. The Deathstrike fight is pointlessly tacked on to give Wolverine something to fight, the Cerebro stuff drags and the film doesn't seem to acknowledge the true weight of what just happened. Wouldn't cars and planes be crashing left and right? Literally everyone on the planet in mental anguish, the death toll had to be in the millions. Also Cyclops disappearing for 90% of the movie, Iceman and Rogue not really doing anything, but Pyro gets a total swag sequence.. Little quibbles here and there.

Origins and X3.. Well, Origins is so bad it's fun to watch for me, whereas X3 has very little redeeming qualities.

Mine are at the moment:

1. X2
2. XMFC
3. DOFP
4. X-Men
5. TLS
6. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Haven't seen The Wolverine. Maybe DOFP will be better in a second viewing.

Cherik, be sure to watch the extended cut of Wolverine, if you're going to watch it.

1.X-2 (opening scene with Nightcrawler still the best x-men scene ever!)
2.First Class
3.The Wolverine
4.X-men
5.The Last Stand
6.Origins (will always be last because of what they did to deadpool!)

Can't wait to see DOFP! Glad to see all the great reviews. Hope quicksilver is good as everyone is saying he is. I'll have some crow coming my way cause I was definitely one of the people hating the way he looked.

I liked the movie more than you, but I strongly believe it will be better in a second viewing in 2D!

And get your silverware ready!

Is the film good? When I saw the trailers, it didn't interest me but maybe I should give it a try.

Yeah I think it was because of where I was sitting and the fricking 3D! My neck is still hurting today :oldrazz: When I go to watch it again, I'll be in the middle, near the back.. and in 2D.

It still won't change my opinion that the film was too short for the story. X2 and XMFC were longer and they have a simpler storyline!

Yea I agree with that. It was indeed too short, very abrupt feeling. There's something about it that just isn't as "epic" as X2 or First Class. *shrug* maybe it is the length.

Reading the review from Variety, I think the length could be a criticism to reviewers.

I also read that the new mutants in the future and some from the OT cast, don't much characterization. If thats true and I noticed that after I watched the film, then I think I would just wish that they just brought Angel/Jubilee than to bring new faces like Warpath/Sunspot. I don't mind if Angel/Jubilee are less visually combat-ready but at least we already saw them before and they would have appeared in the happy ending.

Yes. More mature than most superhero movies. That means it's sometimes slow. Most people have problems with the last act (tonal shift), but overall it's a movie made with style and talent. Mangold has yet to make a movie I have hated.

Is it slower than TDKR? Think I'll get it before I watch DOFP again :word:

1. X-Men 2
2. X-Men First Class
3. X-Men
4. The Wolverine
5. X-Men 3
6. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I can't compare. TDKR had too much "useless" going on in my opinion.

The slow parts build the characters and mood, they exist for a reason, just not for everyone's taste. Also, if you're a friend of beautiful cinematography, you could be impressed. It's nowhere near a flawless movie, but definitely well done and worthy of respect. Again, get the extended cut.

It's ranked 3rd along with TLS and The Wolverine
Oh sorry I misread as joint 4th for some reason. I guess you missed out XMO:W on purpose which I didn't notice 1st time as it looks like joint last without it. Interesting to see all the different rankings from everyone.

1. Xmen 2
2. X-Men First Class
3. X-Men
4. The Wolverine

5. X-Men 3: The Last Stand

6. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

X-Men two barely edges out First Class mostly based on having the right balance of mutants that are interesting. First Class would have been amazing like someone else said if Alex was replaced with Cyke and Banshee was replaced with Storm or like Jean. Magneto really stole the show though and I liked Kevin Bacon as Shaw.

I wasn't high at all on this film just because I thought it would be impossible to fit into 1 movie without it being a mess. Glad to hear the reviews are good and I'm looking forward to it. ASM2 was my most anticipated film and even though it is getting a lot of hate, I really enjoyed every minute of it. They finally got Spider Man right on film.

1. DOFP
2. X2
3. FC
4. X1
5. TW
6. X3
7. XOW

I thought Fox was exaggerating when they said DOFP is the greatest superhero movie ever! They were right :D Love it!

1. First Class
2. X2
3. X1
4. Days of Future Past
5. X3
6. Origins: Wolverine

I can't get over my love for X1 and The Wolverine, really. I debate putting them at the top every time I see them, if not for X2's sheer quality.

I have to see DOFP again to accurately rank these, but its just so hard as is.

1. DOFP is my current top spot holder, but it might be tied with X2 or X1, Ill have to see it again. They are so hard to organize!
2. X2 with an ever so slight advantage over X1.
3. X1

4. The Wolverine
5. First Class

6. XOrigins:Wolverine (I find it to be a dumb fun one shot lol)

7. X-Men The Last Stand (the only thing I really like about this film is the music)

After my second viewing of DoFP I think X2 just edges it out. Everything DoFP does, it does right. But nothing can compare to X2. It only edges it out a tiny bit. But DoFP is much better than First Class. My rank is.

1. X2: X-Men United
2. X-Men: Days of Future Past
3. X-Men: First Class
4. X-Men
5. The Wolverine
6. X-Men: The Last Stand
7. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
