The Resident Evil Thread - Part 1

Voice actor has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Ill concede that it is more plausible that the unnamed character is Wesker, but its not because its not the same voice actor.

This, and only this makes me believe its Alex:

"Absolutely nothing?" Keep telling yourself that. Otherwise, Alyson Court and Sally Cahill wouldn't have voiced Claire and Ada since RE2 respectively. Otherwise, D.C. Douglas wouldn't have emulated Richard Waugh after replacing him for Wesker. Several different people have voiced Chris, however, all sound pretty much the same. Paul Mercer has voiced Leon on every iteration since RE4. There's no way in hell it's HUNK, and I will eat my own shorts if it is

Although Sherry Birkin does sound and look exactly like Ashley Graham.

I'd say it matters quite a bit that the Hunk voice actor in Operation Raccoon City does not resemble the mystery character's voice. The RE franchise may not be big on continuity but there is no way that Capcom would develop two games simultaneously, use the same character in both and use different voice actors.

I would love to see Hunk return though. Working for whoever is behind these new Outbreaks, with the Mission to stop the BSAA from fulfilling their objective.

The dude's just too awesome, not to get a larger role.

I'm still treating it as a rumor. IGN's "sources" isn't the same as Capcom outright saying it's Sherry. After closer observation, this girl's face resembles Sherry's moreso than Ashley's.

Wow. Sherry's back!? **** yes. The more I hear about this. The more stoked I get.

I asked you a question nathan .
Nathan what do you think of matt's idea on Nicholai as a villain? or working with Hunk to give the heroes of Res trouble for the foreseeable future?

Heh, I remember all the hubbub when people thought freakin' Chris Redfield was either HUNK or Billy Coen when the first RE5 teaser was released. Ridiculous, but we were legitimately trolled when Ashley, blonde Jill, and the blonde chick in RE5 were believed to be Sherry when they were first shown.

After watching that I really just wanna know what the **** is going on in this game? I don't think I was even this excited for Resident Evil 5 for ****s sake.

Resident Evil: Attracting CoD fans 'the dream,' says Capcom. 'Action route makes sense!

'"We've seen the popularity of Resident Evil increase massively as the series became more action oriented - Resident Evil 5 is the biggest seller in the series. So, it makes sense for us to follow this action area more fully."

He added of Operation Raccoon City: "The dream would be that the millions of Call of Duty fans that are enjoying these fast-paced online games are attracted to this Resident Evil."

EA said the exact same thing about Dead Space. Everyone over reacted and the game turned out great.

I'm not worried. At all.

CoD is the best game on the planet for making money, it's smart business for devs to want that user base.

Called it!

If they are bringing Sherry back, then I am guessing that Claire will return in some capacity as well. Same with Jill. While they may not be playable, I'm guessing that they'll be around somehow. If Sherry is central than Claire almost MUST have a role in the story.

I've been waiting for Sherry to make a reappearance. Consider me excited. Claire is an awesome bonus. Having said that, I hope the G-Virus comes back in some capacity, so Sherry can once again witness the horrors that her father created.

Speaking of voice actors earlier. Is Paul Mercer not doing the voice for Leon this time around? Leon looks like he has a little bit of stubble this time around too and has aged a little.

Sounds like Mercier, looks like they took his design from Degeneration

IGN's "sources" also outed that Leon and Chris would be the mains before anyone else.

It doesn't always work like that. Its why i said the voice actor doesn't matter. I'm conceding that this third is HUNK in any way. As IGN has stated this 3rd character is related to a major RE character in some way, that leaves pretty much just Alex. Unless Chris or Leon or someone else we know has a long lost bad ass brother. My point still remains, the voice actor doesn't matter. They change ALL the time and sometimes quite dramatically. inFamous 2 is a perfect example. Sometimes voice artists can't reprise a role for whatever reason. I mean there are a lot, an overwhelming number of arguments against that being HUNK, his actor though, aint one of em.

Yes, voice actors change, but it wouldn't make much sense, if it were Hunk, to have two Resident Evil games in the works and cast two different voice actors and having them sound like complete opposites.

Agreed. But it might of not been up to them. Im sure Rocksteady wanted to bring Arleen Sorkin back.

Plus, its Capcom we are talking about.

Of course they change, but the difference is Resident Evil is a 15 year franchise, with some voice actors that have been around since the beginning. New ones were chosen because they could emulate how Capcom sees fit the character should sound. For example, Chris's three subsequent VA's Joe White, Michael Filipowich, and the current Roger Craig Smith all sound the same. DC Douglas adjusted his performance to match Richard Waugh. Only difference is the VA for Wesker in the REmake, to which Capcom already explained they couldn't get Richard Waugh for some reason, and I think is why they switched to DC Douglas afterward. I always liked to think Wesker simply masked his voice since he was in disguise.

inFamous only has two games, hardly a comparison to make. Something like the Metal Gear Solid series would be a better comparison, and Konami ensured the VA's stayed the same for about as long. For another recent game, Operation Raccoon City, why would Keith Silverstein do HUNK on there and not RE6? Yet all the other VA's could do their characters? It's not like Keith is in high demand? Capcom may be trolls, but at least they're consistent in the VA department. They have the past 15 years of proof.

Regardless, I heard from another poster that Slant Six said the blonde girl was actually Ashley. Can anyone confirm this? I have no damn clue how to navigate twitter.

Agreed. But it might of not been up to them.

What do you mean not up to them? Two Capcom games, one guy that always voiced the same character. Why would he voice him in one game and be unable to voice him in another? Especially if both are still in works and not years apart?

Im sure Rocksteady wanted to bring Arleen Sorkin back.

Probably, but didn't they at least make sure to get someone who sounds similar?

Plus, its Capcom we are talking about.

Yes, Capcom pulls a lot of bs, but they do try to get voice actors that sound similar, if they have to replace an old one. That's the one part where I haven't noticed them doing radical changes. So to me, them not sounding alike does add to him not being Hunk and isn't merely an unimportant factor.

Found a Facebook link.

Capcom seriously is trolling us with all these blonde female reveals only to not have them be Sherry. God damn it Capcom!
