lol
Chris is having fun.

I don't think so. But Claire sent a message to Leon, in Code Veronica, while she was at Rockfort Island, which was forwarded to Chris when he was tracked by Leon, that's why he went to the Island looking for Claire.
I'm not sure if they met face to face, though, but that's as far as their interaction goes.

Yep. It has been implied that the two know one another, but they have never shared screen time.

But Dead Space used the same tricks. It wasn't really scary, just tense. You get to a point very early on that you could be attacked at any moment, so once you adapt to that, it isn't scary anymore. Once you became strategic in your limb dismemberment, it became more about being a shooter.

That was the last good horror game for me but it feels like it's been even longer since the last truly unique horror game.

lol maybe for most, but I could only play a chapter at a time because it was too exhausting for me to be in that world for too long. I would walk everywhere with the plasma cutter ready to shoot coz I didn't wanna get sliced by a Necromorph. That usual barrier of, "Oh, it's just a game, you won't really get cut if they hit you!" Wasn't there for me hahah. My 2nd and 3rd playthroughs were a lot less eventful because I memorized all the enemy spawns and whatnot, but that first go 'round walking through the ghost ship blind was way intense. I wasn't terrified but damn it was creepy. I may be jaded but I'll take creepy, unsettling, typical horror over action when it comes to RE.

Lol. Just saw this on Twitter.

Got in Resident Evil for 3DS and just noticed this. Ouch. http://pic.***********/KRD8mtag

Haha, he should hang onto it. The misprints will probably be recalled. Could make his copy rare and worth something to a collector.

They're not going to recall it because of a typo on the spine. It'll be corrected in later prints.

I ain't gonna joke around. Dead Space scared the cap out of me and I ain't afraid to admit it.

Well you can say what you want, but the fact remains that Visceral Studios altered the pacing of Dead Space 2 because fans said the first game was too scary. Scary, tense, whatever you want to call it. It was a frighting game, moreso than any recent RE.

“.. What we discovered is people were – believe it or not – too scared ‘of’ playing Dead Space”.

I'm not afraid to admit when games are scary either. Amnesia, Condemned, Silent Hill 2, all scared the **** out of me. Dead Space on the other hand, didn't scare me in the least. I'm curious, what aspects of it made it frightening for you?

Id ask you the same about Condemned.

For me it was the same things that made Alien and the Thing creepy. You had grotesque monsters, small spaces and then a complete feeling of dread and isolation. Admittedly, i got desensitized to it all and it just became about shooting the next abomination, but for the first few hours or so, i couldn't of been any more scared.

I can say, without a doubt in my mind, that REmake is the scariest game I've ever played. Dead Space really didn't bug me, I just had a good time playing it, but I wasn't scared. REmake really wigs me out. That first play through where you really don't know whats behind each door and the entire atmosphere of that game makes it a winner. I wish, in my hear of hearts, RE would go back to that. I'm hoping RE6 gives at least a taste of it.

Revelations goes back to the survival horror roots, I'm seriously considering buying a 3DS just for it... RE6 is most likely gonna be another action romp with horror on the back burner.

Oh dude i agree. I still feel the REmake is the absolute most terrifying game i have ever played. From the incredible locale, to the great creatures(crimson heads *shudder*) and the great story elements(Lisa's Diary). I felt fear from the onset to the very end when it came to the REmake. I felt the same with Dead Space for the first few hours, but after that it just became predictable.

Man, if I'd play REmake, it would probably take me a year to finish. Or play with a friend and throw the controller at him whenever a Zombie appears. Yes, I am a ***** when it comes to horror games.

That's exactly what I said happened to me, yet when I posted that, you gave me all that "Well, say what you want BUT" attitude.

Harumph...

No, i responded to this

But Dead Space used the same tricks. It wasn't really scary

The game was scary for most. In fact, too much so that the pacing was altered for the second game. My overall point was basically this, Dead Space has now surpassed Resident Evil for the survival horror(terror action whatever u want to call it) crown. Dead Space proved you can be extremely scary and still have the action that these devs want to have in their games(to satiate the CoD fans appetite). Obviously, we aren't going back to the orig format of the first few games, so Capcom's best bet is to take what Dead Space did well and use it in their game.

What I find baffling though is that you keep quoting this 'fact' about how the first game was SO scary that they had to change the pacing in the sequel, yet you admit that your experience wasn't that consistently terrifying anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Dead Space fan myself, but it seems odd that you seem to be putting the Devs estimation of the game on a higher pedestal than your own experience.

My original point is actually validated by your experience of the game, and Master Chief's also, that whilst scary at first, once you become used to the 'tricks' that are used, the same 'jump' tactics, it becomes more of an action game. The reason the original RE games were scarier, in my mind, is that even when you knew what was coming, it was still unsettling and scary as hell because of the survival aspect, the controls, the fixed camera etc.

So, like I originally said, Capcom have to decide if they simply want to copy Dead Space or FEAR or any other modern horror games or if they want to try and make something unique again that they can OWN as a definitely Resident Evil game trait.

REmake is still the scariest of the games, knowing what's coming or not.

****ing truth. The addition of crimson heads in that game just adds such an element of terror. Hearing one of them scream when you enter a room and you know you're ****ed is a truly amazing experience.
