I just bought the remake of the original, I find it pretty difficult no matter who you choose.

Damn Zombies just won't stay dead.:cmad:

Of the 4 main REs I found 4 the easiest (save on the Highest difficulty). Ammo is easy to come by, when weapons are upgraded you use less ammo, Health can be restored not only by herbs but purchasable First Aid sprays and Eggs. It...lacked something that the other Resident Evils had. Maybe its the realtively seclusive rural setting as compared to the ever chaotic Racoon City or Arklay Mountains. I never got to play Zero unfortunately.
CV was defiently a main RE. It was more of one than RE4 was

I just bought Zero and Remake. Havent decided which to play first but I think I might go with Zero. I played a few minutes of Remake and that game seems way to dark. I can barely see anything. I just ordered component cables off of Ebay ($51!) bc the graphics suck on HDTV. My upscaled version of PS2's RE4 with progressive scan looks better than the GC games as is

The major problem I found with the game is the controls...I have a hell of a time trying to dodge zombies or just running/walking. I agree the games is a bit dark but I can see pretty much everything.

oh yes the controls are annoying as hell. RE was made for the PS controller. This is the same problem I had when I played the MGS remake. Im going to have to force myself to get used to it but its going to be hard

The REmake is my favorite of the entire series. If you want those zombies to stay down permanently, blow there heads off or burn them with the kerosine and lighter.

I find the controls pretty basic...they're easy to remember, I have no problems dodging the monters. I don't find the game that dark either, in fact, the darkness that is in the game is just fine, you are after all running around in an old mansion filled with monsters.

Agreed, never had any issue with any RE controls.

Yeah I'm okay with the controls on GC, I get by with em.

I'm working back and forth bewteen Chris and Jill's storylines and the controls with chris seem tighter and than Jill's, her's seems a tad sluggish to me.

Anyways, the games itself is great, the noises when walking through the mansion make you paranoid.:ninja:

The Zombie in the tub caught me off gaurd.:wow:

do you guys use the analog stick or directional pad on the GC? Ive always found the analog sticks to suck in every RE game but 4

Happy Birthday to Shinji Mikami. As we know, this is the man, the myth, the legend that brought us REmake.

Alas, there would be a blight on his record, Resident Evil 4. Back during the development of Resident Evil 4, when it starred Dante and started going into the supernal, Mikami suggested making that an original title. Why this was never done with what we received, I'll never know.

So Happy B-Day, Mr. Mikami

I just saw this box cover. Resident Evil: The Essentials is a compilation of Code Veronica X, RE4 and Outbreak and will be released Sept 4

Interesting...does this mean Outbreak's storyline is[are] considered to be canon?

..........it should be

Resident Evil: Essentials
REmake, RE:CVX, RE:4

Then people could get REmake alongside CVX(two games hard to find unused) But I see it's for Playsation 2.

I think Outbreak is included as it was the only original RE game made for the PS2 unless you count the gun games which are in a different genre

I just tried RE4 with the 360 controller and it was horrible. The PS2 is definetly better suited for the game. Ill have to rent the GC version and try those out some time in the future

Oh yeah, the game catches me off guard every now and then. Especially if you don't kill zombies, they tend to burst through various doors should you pass them. For example, the zombie in the tub. I remember the first time I played the REmake, with Chris, I decided to get the hell out of there rather then fight in such cramped spaces. Later on I return to that same corridor and the damned zombie burst through the door for a round 2.

It's such a great game, hell, I think i'm going to play it through again.

I want to play it now but Im not going to touch that or Zero till my component cables come in bc they both look like sh-t on my HDTV

I remember when I first faced Lisa Trevor-- I totally freaked out!

REmake was the first RE game I ever played, and IMO it's still the scariest out of all of them. I also own all of the novels (barring the ones based on the crappy movies), and have just recently begun collecting some of NECA's RE action figures. Indeed, RE is good stuff.

^ Hell yes. I loved the forest path leading to her shack. The mist, the lighting, everything was perfect. It was creepy, yet beautiful at the same time. Easily my favorite environment in any of the games.

Yup. Even by today's standards I think that REmake is still a very good looking game. And when it came out back in '02, I remember my jaw was on the floor throughout the whole thing.

Just so everyone knows, the Outbreak games are cannon, and the asian chick from the first one is gonna be in RE5...

That was just a dumb rumor started at IMDB. I don't have a problem with the outbreak series (aside from some shoddy game design issues), but please do not spread misinformation. Osmund Saddler is not in RE5, either.

Hey guys and gals. I'm working on a monster of a theory involving one of the biggest players in this series. It should be up later this week.

I just finished watching the first Resident Evil and well it was just as bad as people said it was. That was one of the worst, if not the worse film Ive ever watched. I think Im gonna go put up my BR copy of Apocalypse (which I havent watched yet) now. What a disgrace. Couldnt they have done the story based on the mansion incident with Chris and Jill?
