Good god damn! This is looking to be the game I've been waiting for me whole life!

Same, I've been wanting a zombie game where I'm in a city armed to the teeth shooting Zeds ever since I saw Day of the Dead many, many years ago and that badass opening scene.

I can't wait for this.

Anyone know if this is an online only game or can I just buy it and play it by myself?

No word on that yet, id assume it'll also have a SP campaign but wouldnt be the least but surprised if its MP only. Slant Six's last game was MP only.

Ah ok. I am by no means a gamer let alone someone who plays online or have my system set up to play online.

But for this one, I'll set it up if I have to.

I do want single player components in this. As much fun as playing co-op is, there are times I just want to explore a game by myself

Yeah, that's how I feel. Hopefully they don't focus solely on the multiplayer aspect.

That's one of RE5's main problems. It kinda forces co-op. You can play single player, but Sheva was kind of a dip****

Yeah, definitely an example of terrible AI. I gotta admit though, the move back to traditional zombies is exciting to me. I just don't feel like the recent Resident Evil games had the same appeal as the first 3 did.

Slant Six: "we're not changing the Resident Evil storyline"
Friday 8-Apr-2011 10:44 AM Operation Raccoon City will "retell it from a different point of view"

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will "intersect" with the events of Capcom classic Resident Evil 2 without altering key plot points, according to Slant Six Games creative director Adam Boyd.

"The basic idea for this game is we're really attaching a group of characters to Resident Evil sort of 15 years after the fact," Boyd explained to a worried Mike Channell at a preview event.

"So what was really important was that they feel like Resident Evil characters, and because they're going to intersect with the events of the original outbreak, they're going to meet those original heroes and villains, we wanted them to feel like they belonged there, and like they were a natural part of the Resident Evil universe."

The new game puts players in charge of an Umbrella Corporation Secret Service unit, tasked with bumping off the survivors of a T-virus outbreak. Among the names on Umbrella's hit list is Leon Kennedy, star of the second and fourth numbered Resident Evil titles.

"We're not changing the Resident Evil canon, we're not changing the Resident Evil storyline," Boyd insisted.

"We're trying to intersect with it, at those moments where maybe those characters weren't on screen, or like for instance in some of the games you play Claire [Redfield], and then you play Leon, so in a lot of cases, this is what happened to Leon while you were playing Claire.

"We're not trying to change the characters, more it's a fan service. You should run into them and go 'oh, that's where Leon was', or 'that's what happened here'.

"So this is an addition to the storyline, and there are some salacious details, some things that you didn't know happened that you'll find interesting, but we're not changing the storyline, we're working in with it.

"Capcom has retold the story of the outbreak a number of different times, and we're retelling it from a different point of view."

Confirmation, then, that Operation Raccoon City will not let you gun down Leon, despite Capcom's suggestions to that effect? We're a little stumped, to be honest.

This game just shot to the top of my list. Hearing that it's going to be within the canon is fantastic. Iv been playing through the REmake and I came across a memo talking about the USS and it made me think of this game. So stoked.

whew thats a relief. I wasn't cool with killing the hero characters

Yea I hate the plagas. Not nearly as cool as the T virus.

The enemies I want to see are hunters and the chimeras. Those things were damn creepy.

I didn't mind it as long as there was a choice that would alter the ending, it'd be neat to see the various endings but I'm stoked to hear this game is gonna be within the canon, that's just awesome. Can't wait to see the events through the eyes of umbrellas secret service. I wonder how the characters will react or change once they see the horrors within raccoon city.

But I wanna kill them all. :(

Maybe u still can, but allowing Leon et al to live would be the "right" ending. Jill and Rebecca could die in the REmake but only them both living was the true ending.

With plagas you basically fight really pissed off people. It's just meh.

Exactly. They felt way too human. Altho I didn't mind em as much in 4, but with 5 they just became lame.

I can understand that the story and concept had to evolve. You can't always just fight Zombies. You'd think at some point they'd manage to make a proper virus, that doesn't turn people into mindless cannibals.

But once you fight people with riot shields and rocket launchers and encounter giant LOTR Trolls, it just isn't Resident Evil anymore.

SO glad that we won't be taking out Leon, lol... I really disliked the idea of killing off the main heroes. Maybe we WILL get a choice though after all? Like Pat said, it would be cool to have at least two different endings based on your choices.

RE1-3: A nod to Romero and Zombie/Monster flicks.

RE4-5: Pretty much 28 Days/Weeks Later "the game."

I can understand that too... but I still thing that they should be more BOW than tentacle hentai monster or whatever. I would rather keep it in the realm of zombies, monsters and tyrants than anything 4 or 5 gave us. I mean give us zombies, crimson heads and maybe even mini tyrants (smaller/weaker than big ones) just to keep the "BOW" theme...

Like you said, once the "creature" you're fighting is shooting at you with rocket launchers or you're facing a Troll from LOTR it's just not the same game anymore.

And yeah, I thought the "trolls" were dumb in RE4 and even dumber in RE5. Seriously, the scariest part in RE5, to me was the swamp with the giant alligators swimming around in it...

Yeah I agree, the enemies from the first few games were awesome. I just don't really like the concept of the plagas. If I wanted to fight pissed off people, I'd just play Call of Duty or something.

On the subject of the first few games... Neptune in the REmake still gives me chills. Mainly because Sharks both awe and terrify me...

But man that part of the game really unnerved me, lol.

The Neptune area scarred me too. I just have this deep fear of things in the water, ready to drag you under.

Just trying playing Ecco The Dolphin. The endless blue ocean. :hehe:

I remember back when RE3 first came out,and me and my friend went to his house from school on the dinner time. My mother had just bought the game and gave it to us. We got up to the police station, where Nemesis first appeared and what we both saw disturbed the two of us badly.

When Nemesis punches his tentacle through Brad's head...we went back to school like we had seen a ghost. We were really traumatized...still are to this day. :hehe:

Haha yea, Neptune was an awesome enemy.

Theres just some great enemies in the REmake. Neptune, Crimson Heads, the Chimeras, the Hunters, Lisa Trevor, Plant 42.

I'm glad Mr. X is returning, when he first burst through the wall at the police station was awesome.

And I agree that the enemies in parts 1-3 and CV were better than anything in 4 & 5. A horde of shuffling, rotting, cannibalistic zombies will always be more terrifying that pissed of villagers throwing gardening tools at you.

tell me about it, playing to day all she has is the machine gun and maxed out ammo in each section. wasted the whole load on the first 2 chapters

And when I had the inventory full and needed to drop something to take the herb, she automatically would give me something, fulling my inventory again and preventing me from taking the herb, and this happened in the most critical situations, like in the giant spider battle, contributing to my death...many times.
