I hate escort missions more than anything in the world, but I wasn't bothered by RE4. Mainly because you can just tell Ashley to get the **** out of the way, and she'll go hide in a dumpster or trash can or whatever.

True, I guess I shouldn't hold it against it that much. I dunno, I just think RE4 changed too much that I loved about the series enough for me to really enjoy it. Even now when I play the HD rerelease I'm just like "Meh" and I pop in 2, 3 or REmake and I'm more satisfied.

There's a Rooster Teeth video that talks about this. I can't post it here due to Hype rules against the language, but it's pretty funny. When I first played I hated escorting her everywhere, but then I found out that I could tell her ass to hide on my second play through. Once I got her in that armor and bought the infinite rocket launcher I had way too much fun with that. :hehe:

The only time I got really annoyed with Ashley was where you have to snipe cultists early in the castle area while she raises a platform. I love RE4's setting, but yeah I was upset that they wiped Umbrella under the rug and left in models that seemed to be obviously intended for other villains ie Saddler/Spencer, Krauser/Nicholai or Wesker, Ashley/Sherry, Plagas/Progenitor + Nemesis parasite.

I was a bit annoyed Jill didn't even get a name drop in RE6. There was a time in that game when Pierce had enough of attitude Chris was having and name dropped Fenn. When he did that Jill should have been included in the same breath. Also, I wonder if Jill comes back, will she be 'enhanced' some how. Given that small amounts of T-virus she was infected with was interacting with whatever crap Wesker gave her let to a cosmetic change (hair, eye, skin color bleach)
lol I thought I deleted that . oh your post from your e-mails. Ok say if she did become enhanced I was hopping that were the case and some what ever faction of the old umbrella that some how decides to make more version of wesker . i thought for the heroes side they they would make super agents from jill and call them anti Bodys and and hope it'll be a none virus thin so they won't be come monsters they be super human (still human)to a degree. and will this cure like thing in their blood fighting off most of the viral strains. made from Dr Rebecca chambers and that doc/medic in ORC. well that's part of what I do.

And it'll stop people from doing what Chris did with over beefing him self up just to take people like Wesker on. lol

I, too, was pretty surprised about the lack of Resident Evil. Capcom didn't show much of anything at the show.

I think in today's industry, Capcom finding a partner to either merge with or get bought out by would probably be a good thing.

Especially with their track record.

I just didn't realize they were in that much financial trouble. RE has always been profitable for them.

Just thinking of that and Square Enix getting them and pushing out a Resident Evil reboot to revitalize the series much like they did with Tomb Raider, sounds like it could be a step in the right direction

Imagine a Final Fantasy style game with Dragon Dogma's gameplay. :wow:

I don't think Square is very probable. They aren't exactly in the best financial situation themselves and the buyout of Eidos was relatively recent. Be interesting to see what happens. I'm sure there's someone out there who is looking at Capcom's wealth of IPs and thinking this is a golden opportunity.

Or imagine RE reboot with Gears of War like gameplay :wow:

You shaddup! :cmad: Those words should never be spoken together!

Seriously though, I kinda liked the Wii game UC but I can't stand games like Gears and they'd lose me forever if they did that.

Wasn't Umbrella Chronicles a first person on-rails shooter?

Yep. How you can like that and not like a Gears type title is confusing.

I agree in that I wouldn't want to see a Gears inspired RE title. I mean damn, we already have that and they suck. I want a Resident Evil inspired Resident Evil game. You don't need to look to any other franchises.

They've got to distance themselves as far away as they can from the past few years. RE4 was great, because it was more of a horror and had less...well, less zombies lobbing grenades at you :D It was simpler, like the old games. Then it started to go to **** once 5 came in with it's action.

We all know the solution. No more partners. More unsettling horror, environments, etc. They should base a game more subtly on being by yourself in a mansion or castle or something. Less of the world is collapsing down around us.
Just imagine, REmake, with RE4's camera...but even then, I loved the fixed camera, but it's a thing of the past now. I wonder if they'd bring it back, it would be a bold move to make. But if done in the vein of REmake, with the fluid feel of today, it could be spectacular. I always loved the feel of the camera pointing you where it wants you to look, it's artistic and unnerving. It's claustrophobic and makes you feel like you have no control over yourself in the surroundings.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a merger with Konami or Nintendo would be a better fit for Capcom.

Konami would be the worst possible thing to happen if what they did to Hudson is any indication. Nintendo would be a good move for Nintendo. They have and still work with Capcom on a lot of projects, and Capcom potentially has several franchises in key genres that Nintendo doesn't. But it'd be strange to have Capcom's output being restricted to one console after being a very multiplat company over the years.
