Punisher and Venom meeting could have been raelly interesting due to the whole morals thing. But I just remember it being insanely forgettable.

Man, I'm sorry, but the Venom minis were absolute crap. The ONLY one I even SLIGHTLY enjoyed was "Sinner Take All", and that was because the art was actually good, inlike "Funeral Pyre" or any other crap-tastic Venom mini. Hell, even "Lethal Protector" was crappy to me, as it began the "Symbiotes for everyone" crap. Ugh....really.

And yeah, Mullet-Eddie was horrible. SO many people hate on the McFarlane and Larsen versions of the character, but those two, along with Bagley, are the only artists from the 90's NOT to draw him with a mullet.

Yeah, I agree with shinlyle, most of the Venom minis were not up to par. My absolute favorite is "Sinner Take All," not only for the art but I enjoyed the story as well. I also liked a few others, but the late 90s symbiote craze was part of bad writing on Marvel's part. Just look at that time period. Clone Saga, "Death" of Doc Ock, the Green Goblin mini series, and Carnage being 40 ft tall in the Planet of the Symbiotes (I did like that story, though). In my opinion, the only good things to come out of the late 90s era of suck were Kaine and the Untold Tales of Spider-Man series. At least by late 1996, Peter Parker was back wearing the Spidey garb.

Yeah, the vast majority of venom minis were horrible and even as a kiddo reading some of that dialogue I got depressed and even embarrassed of the writing. But in the right hands I think the character makes a good quasi-hero.

And Brock's mullet was sweet! Haters.

I bought The Birth of Venom TPB today (and finished it already!)! So many issues that I've wanted for so long...all in one place!

I liked some of the minis to be honest...throw tomatoes, I don't care *runs away* but seriously, a lot of them were just random crap. Wolverine and Venom:Tooth and claw was just a big wtf on my part. I liked Lethal Protector, Sinner takes all and those ones where he worked with the CIA; I don't remember puking while reading those, sure some of it was a bit of camp, but I found them fun (at least to my knowledge, my memory is a bit basic on those, it's been years) I initally liked Planet of the Symbiotes due to the potential and it was awesome seeing the Spider-trio fight. But I saw like two issues, afterwards I heard about the giant carnage and then found out that it takes 57 cracks to the head with a 15 pound weight to render me unconsious...oww.

I really don't understand the evolution of Eddie's hair. He had a buzz, then a buzz-mullet and long hair? I don't know why everyone felt he needed a different 'do. Even though I hate mullets, it never really detracted from the character for me. Maybe living in the South and seeing really awful mullets on a daily basis has desensitized me to them.

Even though I hate mullets, it never really detracted from the character for me. Maybe living in the South and seeing really awful mullets on a daily basis has desensitized me to them.

Hahaha, it's weird. He could have a crew cut one month, then some long Fabio locks the next. Amazing!

That mini was almost as bad as cover 1 of said issue in which Venom has used the infinity gauntlets to gain the "final atomic death toungue" or as I like to call it: The tongue that enables Venom to eat your brains, your family dog's, your ancestors and everyone in the vicinity of your continent's brains.

Sounds like a good collection, especially for folks that are just getting into comics. The only Venom issues I don't have from "Amazing" are 299-300. I can't find those two to save my life.

I enjoyed the Venom minis as well. They weren't really anything spectular but it was a different time. I'll still always prefer Planet of the Symbiotes. That was a huge arc in my books.
