If Brock got to kill May, he wouldn't be a loser anymore, would he? And Venom isn't popular anymore. Or haven't you noticed the lack of a latest Venom limited series on the shelves?
True Brock would finally redeem himself as a villain.
Venom IS a wildly popular character and has been consistently since his inception some 19 years ago.
Why else would Arad have induced Raimi to include him in SM3? The popularity of Venom = $$$.
The reason we don’t see a Venom title on shelves right now (tho no doubt there will be a few one shots etc soon), is because the character don’t really have what it takes to shoulder a monthly on his own and as such readers soon lose interest.
And the same can be said of Osborn until he killed off Gwen. Gwen was much more important to the readers than Norman Osborn, but he still killed her off, and thus immortalized himself.
When GG killed Gwen that was a first in comics. It signalled the end of the Silver Age and the beginning of a whole new era of consciousness in comics where even the good people could die. It was shocking and unexpected.
Fast forward to today and the main problem w/ Spider-man comics is this penchant Marvel exhibit for producing these tacky shock event storylines. Death is no longer shocking, it is expected and tiresome.
Don’t forget that when GG killed Gwen his character had been gaining momentum for some time- both in terms of character development and as a Supervillain force. Two areas in which Brock has had no such progression. If Venom/Brock were to kill Aunt may it would be symptomatic of the problems with Marvel comics today. Another attempt at an easy fix by Marvel- How do we make Venom good again? I know!- we piss all over Aunt May. Good one.
Lame origins aside, Brock is just like any Spidey Villain, thing is, he just hasn't gotten to make the classic immortalized act that makes him as memorable as the Goblin.
He’s not just like any Spidey villain, hardly any are in the same league as GG. Venom is a once great supervillain force who’s popularity is at odds w/ what he actually represents. His fans, and possibly Marvel now seek that this issue be addressed.
You act like Brock was a loser from the first panel he appeared in. Which, judging by your attitude and demeanor, you probably DO think that and won't budge about it. I don't think you'd give Venom any credit even in the areas he still deserves recognition in.
Actually dude, I think old school Venom ruled, but I’m getting sick of discussing it.
Basically Eddie as Venom was only meant to be used for a short time and as such that worked great.
Once we got past ASM#347 he became boring real fast and suddenly the fact that the character had no substance made a big difference for the first time.
And Keaton being THE Batman is my personal opinion. So screw off. I did not have to dump on Bale to make Keaton look good. Shame that you felt you had to do that for Bale. Your beligerent attitude to my opinion, throwing insults at my opinion (for all intents and purposes) is pathetic. And for the record, Keaton is average height and NOT balding. His hairline hasn't moved since the 80s. Not a combover/wig, because it still grows. I don't care if you don't like him, but get your facts straight.
Hahahaha, are you Keaton yourself?
Seriously, I was just having a laugh, but for me in comparing the two actors Keaton does look like a balding dwarf. He was also a fine Batman though, no doubt.
For me Bale is the man.
