Bad choice physically or what? No sarcasm. I think he's an oddball choice physically but then one could say that about Nygma. I do think he's a solid actor that could pull off what's required for the character.

What have you seen him in? Star Wars, for example, is an annoying over the top performance. But I wouldn't call anything else annoying really.

Honestly, Riddler has always been an annoying villain to me so maybe it fits.

His American accent never distracted me in The Revenant or Ex Machina. I think he only has a couple of tricks up his sleeve but he does them pretty well and Riddler doesn't call for a performance that is the most dynamic thing in the world. Take that as you wish. Perhaps my opinion of the character is low to begin with. And yeah, it would be nice to have an extremely dynamic performance. But I don't think it's out of Gleeson's range.

Not a bad idea! Clarke would probably be a solid pick for several villains in Batman's rogue gallery. I could see him doing a killer Hush or Two Face as well, honestly.

If they're going for a Riddler that's more like the Arkham games or the Animated Series, where he's really just annoying and not very creepy, then just go for NPH

Jason Clarke is a good actor but every time I see him in a movie, I can't help but stare at that weird bird's nest of hair on his head. It's very distracting.

Of all the actors in Hannial, Raul Esparza seemed like the better Riddler to me.

I wouldn't be mad at that, but I still think Hugh would be a great choice as well.

Underrated character actor Mark Sheppard would be PERFECT for Riddler. Not physically imposing in the least, but has a presence that makes him feel instantly threatening. He plays smug, intellectual types very well, and has an intensity about him that Riddler should have.

I know that it will never happen, as he has never really broken past simply being a "that guy" type of actor. But he'd be amazing in the role none the less.

However, Michael Sheen of Frost/Nixon fame would probably be a more conventional choice.

I still think he'd be a fantastic Riddler. Though, the more I think about it, the more I think that Matt Smith would be my first choice.

Smith is more than Doctor Who. I agree that people whose go-to casting for everything is former Doctors are a bit shortsighted. But his performance in The Crown is outstanding. Smith is a pretty talented guy.

That said, I won't argue that Malcolm Tuckering any character is always a good move.
