I love Arrested Development, but no. Will Arnett might look the part, but he can't act dramatically to save his life.

That's where we disagree. I think if he was given the right material to work with and Nolan's direction he could do more than a decent job with a darker, dramatic Riddler. I imagine he would come of as a mix of the Riddler from TLH and HUSH.

I would have to see his dramatic acting to make any sort of judgment on whether or not he could perform something like that.

I'm no Riddler expert, so I won't comment too much on his character, but what's with all the AMH hate? I thought he'd kinda redeemed himself a bit in recent years. I liked him in Pirates of Silicon Valley and from what I've seen, he's pretty good on the Dead Zone, too.

Do you guys think the Original Green Riddler outfit should be re-dubbed? Or should Nolan come up with his own creation?

Any thoughts for designs?

Nah I mean a black suit with a black shirt with a green tie and a green kerchief . Dark green. I wouldn't put question marks on him. some would I wouldn't.

I think I finally found MY key pick for who I think should portray the Riddler.

Alan Cumming, usually acts in Comedies but has had serious roles in "Reefer Madness" and other films. Also did an outstanding job ( I thought ) in X2: X-men United. Anyways, think he's a good candidate for the role?

His role in Reefer Madness wasn't that serious. You should have said something like Titus. But off that topic there are rumors of Anthony Micheal Hall playing a mysterious role perhaps Riddler

eh... i dont even know why they are keeping his role so secret

Hell.. I totally forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder.

But I still like my Choice. And Yeah I haven't watched RM in a pretty long while but Titus was great.

Ya Titus is good. Emo Shakespeare. Also I like how its going to be a big surprise to people who haven't been watching it. Fans who aren't big on the movie might go crazy(good crazy) when they see a Nygma reference

possibly...
but as far as surprises go, which would be bigger
1) the ending roof top scene of BB with the joker card and knowing joker would be in the sequel

or

2) seeing the riddler or just edward nygma in the sequel

i gotta say 1 would be/ was a bigger surprise for me

Well Riddler is Left field. Especially when you hear oh its about The Joker and Harvey Dent is in it.

Let's face it. We wouldn't be having this conversation...this thread wouldn't exist if it weren't for Frank Gorshin. It was a forgotten character until Frank brought it to life and gave it relevance. Only then did DC even acknowledge it. He made it a maniacal, fun, and I always thought, the most dangerous character, because he was so smart.

He was the king. Do some homage to Frank.

Gorshin was great... Carrey was funny and at times perfect for the role, but if it is AMH im not going ot lie i'll be up in the air about, just like how most people were with Ledger as Joker.
And someone isn't just "crazy" they have specific mental disorders that make them that way, someone doesn't just wake up one morning and say "hmm, i think i'll start robbing banks and leaving riddles for people to try and figure out". Everything is attached to the mind, OCD is an ok disorder for the riddler and even the joker to have when haveing the right trate behind it, but there are better ones out there

OCD could work, but so could a lot of other things. Like the crane gas could mess him up. Also his riddles could be Jigsaw-ish. That would be the only way it could happen and not be cheesy.

yeah jigsaw-ish would be cool imo... but then you'll have 10000001 fan boys *****ing about how nolan is now copying the saw movies. i personally liked the riddles that were in batman forever

you're right. they would complain. the riddles in forever were good i'll agree with that.

i'd stick with something thats a good mix of the two... it would come out being a little more like jigsaw due to how Nolan directs, but as long as he doesn't make it seem like he's copying it 100% or makeing it on the verge of a horror film it'd be good

The Riddler could always have a disorder like Tourettes.....

jk..on a more serious note I could see the Riddler having an OCD..but not about EVERYTHING..cause that could be just a lil bit annoying. http://www.mental-health-matters.com/disorders/list_alpha.php
^^^
that shows a list of disorders you could choose from:woot:

And why does he have to be OCD? Why do we have to attach that psycho-babble? Why can't he just be crazy?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Gorshin

I agree, people are too caught up in Nolan's world of "realism", at the end of BB Gordan mentioned things will be escellating because now there is a guy fighting crime in a bat outfit. Anything can happen and we don't have need psycholanalitic answer to every villains actions.

Its not realism its plausibility. Also audiences now a days like to have reasons why things happen, instead of just its just that way. Why would riddler leave riddles of his crime? He just does vs. He likes to taunt police or has OCD
