well thats obviously what SEE YOU IN DECEMBER meant...literally

I like that the Joker has no origin. I hope he says something in the movie along the lines of: "If I'm going to have a past, I prefer multiple choice!"

I think it'll work out fine. I mean, the first 5 minutes are the prologue and don't directly contribute to the plot, really. It's just him getting up on top.

Would be nice ! And it would keep a mystery around Mr. J. (Darth vader lookalike:woot: )!

First to the people complaining about the lens. LOL be quiet. People are freaking out. I bet it has something to do with him driving the Bat-Pod at high speeds. I love how some people are like: "Oh NOES, its teh 4ever Batmna!!"

Oh no, Batman Forever he had a cape? Just like in TDK and BB!!!! Oh no what will happen!!!!! I hope those saying these things will get my drift of sarcasm.

As I said eariler I know that the origin of the Joker will be nothing more then a physical one if there is one. I just know that Nolan understands this character, I just want it to be where he has always been insane, born insane and thats that. And it seems thats the route Nolan's taking.

As for physical deformity I don't mind seeing how that happens.

Wrong thread, dude. Hahahahaha. . .

Wrong thread, dude. Hahahahaha. . .

LOL, no man I don't think so.

Go back and read some of the comments from the likes of google.

I talked about the lens, which is talked about in this thread and article. As well as the origin of the Joker, which the footage apparently is. :cwink:

All I'm saying is I've heard from more than one person that this IMAX thing was shot specifically for just that.

There are IMAX scenes in the film sprinkled throughout and the prologue was a way of showing how "amazing" they will look. A trailer for them specifically. That's not to say they'll show clips from all of them, but just give the general audience an idea of what they'll be like --- to boost opening weekend IMAX sales.

Furthermore everything that we know is aimed at this was labeled as "a pre-shoot"
We know it was shot in IMAX because of that one pic with the Joker behind the frosted glass.

And then on top of that it sounds a little too fan-boyish to say he'll have the lenses. Wouldn't we have heard about that already? Wouldn't it have been included in the article that outlined all the specs on his new suit?

This has nothing to do with a bruised ego, I'd love to have footage from the film included in the IMAX preview, I'd love for him to have the lenses.

But it just isn't lining up for me.

It could be a quote taken out of context. If Nolan meant by the "first five minutes of the movie" it was really an "introduction" to the story. Something that isn't necessary for audiences to enjoy the film, can easily be edited out but kicks serious ass anyway. And this explains why William Fichtner got cast, he's a semi-recognizable face that will throw audiences off completely.

The lens may work like NVG or ThemoGogs...I am holding off on any assumtions until I see the movie July '08.

I agree with you completely. That's why I'm still hoping we're going to see footage that will not be in the final cut of the film, but was filmed specifically for teasing and promotion.

lol i'm not talking about a minute of footage.

I'm talking about the report we heard a long time ago where the Joker shot the bat-pod to explode, batman flipped off and landed and joker gets a knife to Batman's neck. Right as he's about to cut his throat.....click. Gordon with a double barrel shotgun to the back of Joker's head. Joker's eyes roll up and he speaks, "Can ya give me a minute?"

lol

And that sounded amazing. But tis fake.

Jesus H. Macy Christ! Never heard a word of that, but that it one of the sweetest, most perfectly picturesque moments I've read in a while. Shame.

Has this been posted yet?

Apparently The Dark Knight is still filming in the Battersea Power Station after last week’s shocking explosion. Here’s an update posted on SpoilerTV:

On the evening of Sunday 21st Oct a couple of dark blue SWAT vans with ‘City of Gotham Police Dept.’ written on the sides were parked on the site, and a dark blue helicopter (didn’t see any insignia) was flying low near the power station. This morning (Monday 22nd Oct) as I passed the area on the train again, the two SWAT vans were still in the same place, but a long white tent had now been erected nearby and there were quite a few cars on the site, so I guess some filming must have taken place at some point during the day as well.

Meanwhile, a German website Kino.de has a very good article about The Dark Knight. The site is in German, after I translate it with Yahoo here’s what I got:
  • Batman will go to Hongkong for some kind of “gangster hunting”, but the producer Chuck Roven won’t tell us why Batman travels to Hongkong.
  • The IMAX preview with I Am Legend is the first five minutes of the film.
  • “The whole thing is not ‘Joker Begins’, because we did not tell how the Joker became what he is”, says director Christopher Nolan. “During these five minutes it is shown how the joker of the small crook becomes the most-dreaded gangster of the city - it is more of a “The Rise of the Joker”
  • Batman’s new mask will have white lenses on the eyes when he turn on the Bat-sonar detection.

Bad...Ass.

did the joker have an origin in his first appearance? NO. And that's how it should be. Characters, especially villains with no back story are scarier because u can't figure out the reasons behind what they do. Thank god there is no origin. It just makes scary characters less scary. The new Halloween movir or Hannibal Rising anyone?

I, too, am skeptical about the article. For one, it claims that the footage is 5 minutes long instead of what the last article said it was, which was 7 minutes. And the lense thing. I was wondering the same thing as Jow, in that the suit specs months ago never mentioned it.

It's legit. All these foreign sites can't keep their mouths shut. Every website has already visited the TDK set, these guys are just blurting out the info before december. Chris Nolan said five minutes...so it is five minutes.

They contradict what you said earlier, that the prologue isn't part of the film

Well, I guess i've been lied to. I either believe a guy at Warner Bros., or if this site is legit, I believe Chris Nolan over anyone.

Take it to the bank, ladies and gentlemen. This is a 7 minute short that will blow everyone away. It relates directly to TDK, but is not part of the film. Look up the definition of what prologue is in this context. A prologue is: an introductory scene, preceding the first act of a play, opera, etc. A prologue is an intro. Have any of you read a book; The prologue has nothing to do with the actual book, it's an intro.

I know who the person was that gave Jett the confirmation. This thing is gonna be original, and F'n sweet!

so there IS an origin, sort of?

A 5 minute intro that shows quick glimpses of Jack -Joker, perhaps?

Which film is this attached to?

Bat sonar direction sounds like Batman Forever to me.

I know, I mean also in Forever, Batman had a cape!!!! Can you believe that crap!!!? Also he had a butler named Alfred, and a company named Wayne Enterprises. Man Nolan keeps ripping off on Joel there.:whatever: Sorry my sarcasm regulator has been broken today.

Sonar had been used in comics/cartoons before Forever. And the nice thing about Nolan is he has reasons, and purposes for every piece of technology that the Dark Knight uses. I just love how people are like "O noes its da 4ever!!" Give me a break people.

That's he's not f'ing Jack. The Joker is not Jack Napier. I'm so tired of explaining this to people. :(

:)
