I miss the days of having a truly good straight razor shave...had a shop a couple miles from my old house that would do them for $6. Unfortunately, that was over 10 years ago.

You should get yourself a straight razor from some place like "The Art of Shaving" they sell all the necessary items as well. I sport a manly rugged beard for as long as I'm allowed to but in the after the winter I'm probably going to have to shave it off for work and that's the way I'll go.

I've been to the site before but I prefer a smooth face and so does my wife. I started using an electric razor last Christmas (gift from my kids) and have actually grown to like it...though it's never as close as a razor. They got me the Arcitec, which I've been pleased with so far.
