Regardless of what the numbers will actually be (I'd rather wait a few more hours for the embargo to be lifted), that would be a pretty high average, actually.

It'd be about the average for Marvel's other Phase 3 movies.

From these early reactions...
It seems like it's a good Marvel movie based on their own formula. A strong origin story with a good lead, good chemistry, good supporting cast, interesting villain, decent humor, average action, some extra standouts...

Also doesn't seem to be part of the upper echelon of MCU movies but more of a mid/high range.

Well that's disappointing, but on a positive, the box office projections are gaing momentum. If audiences like the film more then critics, this film seems to have a genuine interest and momentum to be huge.

Ant-Man ended at 82% on RT. At this point, I'm not sure CM will drop that low.

I don't know where people are getting the 70% vibe from at all.

I would be shocked if this was lower than 90%. It definitely looks like somewhat of a crowd pleaser and it should translate into a high RT score and more likely the nitpicks will affect the average score. Previously i said it would probably get a 7.8, that might have been a bit high, but i still see it getting a AS on the range of Ragnarok and Homecoming... 7.5/7.6.

I've only read reviews/impressions of people I follow on twitter and they loved it. I came to report on the box office update and people were comparing it to Aquaman and then in here Ant-Man (obviously far from poor at 82%), so I assumed that there have been a lot of poor/mixed reactions.

My intent was to wait for the embargo and I still will.

Scenes between Fury and Larson's Carol Danvers, rediscovering her human past, are oddly inert, and the film's much-vaunted feminism, promised in months of run-up advertising and interviews, gets short-shrift.

Was just checking his previous CBM scores and came back to post the exact same. His 3/5 scores are kind of all over the board when it comes to being rotten or fresh.

It's all a matter of personal taste at the end of the day. Some opinions of his are not my cup of tea either, like that IW and the JL ones for example.

Yep, that's why there are just certain critics I'm looking out for, because I've learned over the years that they have similar tastes to mine, so while they don't always all agree, if 2 out of 3 of them like it, I think there's a good chance I will too. And vice versa.

From what i read it seems like that particular critic has a beef with the studios and in this case Marvel, because of the way some of his colleagues in the industry have been treated and also Disney shutting down people and news outlets because they don't comply with the norm.

80-85% critics score, 40-50% user score.

The scores do change according to the number and type of reviews that eventually are added. A lot of people submit or have their reviews added to RT long after(years) the movie has come out...

For example, Ragnarok and Homecoming have both 92% on RT. But when you break it down into percentage points then Ragnarok has 92.3% while Homecoming has 91.9%. So if Ragnarok get's 6/7 more fresh reviews then it will jump up to 92.5% which is rounded up to 93% on the rating. While Homecoming would need 25 consecutive fresh reviews to go up to 93%.

Twitter. A recurring criticism seems to be that the movie isn't daring enough.

Then again, Ant-Man and the Wasp is sitting at 86% on RT, so who knows.
