Sci-Fi The Running Man Remake with Edgar Wright!

I see no way they get this out by 2024.

They have a bit more than a year to go into production for this with a script that he's been working for a long time. Why not?

1. Script still isn't done. It's still being written.
2. They don't have a cast yet.
3. SAG-AFTRA strike still hasn't been resolved.
4. Doesn't sound like it has a green light
5. Risky IP.
6. They'd need to start shooting ASAP to have this ready before the end of 2024. A movie like Running Man would require heavy post-production and visuals.

They didn't say they hope for the movie's release to be in 2024, which would indeed be more or less impossible, just to start filming within the next year.

OK, but what I said was I see no way they get this out by 2024, and I stand by that.

I love the original Running Man, probably my favorite Arnold flick (followed by Total Recall). While I'd usually say don't make this, if they are planning on making the closer to the book than just a straight remake I'd like to see that. Not that I've ever read the story.

Glad this is moving forward. I'm mostly interested because of Wright. I like seeing him play outside his sandbox.

Wright is awesome and Powell is on an upward curve, this could be really good.

Wow, that’s a really solid choice.

It’s tricky cause in the book he’s an every man, and the movie he’s Arnold. So Glen Powell is like that combo of the two lol

Kind of amusing that we’re getting two Bachman Books adapted so closely together.

And ****ing finally, in the case of The Long Walk.

I’m always a little irked seeing a separate adaptation of the same source material being called a “remake,” but nevertheless. :o

Cool, I was expecting it in 2026. Has it started filming yet?

Okay cool, now Wright just has to cast one more Twisters alum, Corenswet, simply because his favorite movie is Hot Fuzz. :funny:

Didn't like the first movie but don't see how a remake would likely be better ... a lot of the both jokes about and liking of the movie seem pretty basic, that it's a totally crazy premise but that with reality TV (according to people who hate and probably haven't seen much reality TV) we've already gotten weirdly close to and are getting closer to.
