Deadpool The Ryan Reynolds/ "Deadpool" Thread part 2

Hopefully it'd be rated R though. I don't want it overly gory, but I do think it needs Blade level action and violence. And a Deadpool movie could be done on a relatively low budget.

Certain movies need to be rated R, I agree that to do Deadpool properly it would need the higher rating.

Here's that interview again with that moronic blowhard, Tom Rothman, head of 20th century Faux:

IESB: So, we get teased in the Wolverine trailer with Deadpool, he's a fan favorite, another second tier Iron Man-like character, and Ryan Reynolds has been dying to play this guy for years and I think that's why he even did the cameo because he wants a stand alone film. Any movement there?

TR: Yes and no, I mean, Deadpool is an integral part of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, we are in the process now, of doing all the CG work to create that character at an A +++ level, that's being done in truly as state of the art fashion as possible...

IESB: Scarring and all?

TR: It will be very rewarding for the fans, let's put it that way. It's a high level endeavor because he figures importantly in the movie, so whether he'll spin off into his own movie, if that's what you're asking, I don't know the answer. We will have to see.

IESB: Wolverine, how dark is it? The Dark Knight has been the darkest superhero movie and is still making money, compared to The Dark Knight, how dark is Wolverine?

TR: It's pretty dark, but, I don't know, I haven't seen the movie yet. But, it's in that realm, it's thematically a very dark story, so it is not Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.

***

Isn't sunnybrook farm a flavor of Boone's sugar wine? That's uncalled for, Rothman.

So in Rothman's eyes, a character who looks like a Mortal Kombat ripoff (Baraka) with a pud face that looks smeared with cookie dough and childishly drawn over with sharpie pens--will be rewarding to the character's fanbase? Is everyone here as thrilled as I am?

Looks like Rothman should pull his head out of his ass. 'State of the art CG' and really amateurish ****** makeup do not a Deadpool make, my bloodsucking friend.

Anyone remember my plan on if Deadpool sucked?

Anyone want to join in? *Puts on Deadpool costume & gets arsenal out*

If someone provides the Katanas, I'm there.

An R rating for a deadpool movie would undoubetly be detrimental to it's success. A smart director can get away with enough violence and still escape with a PG-13. Plus, marvel studios recently announced they wouldn't be making any more R rated films. It really is a shame that a handfull of folks at the mpaa can have such an effect on what movies get made, but it's just a fact that fewer people will go to an R-rated movie just as fewer theaters will show an R vs PG-13 film.

yeah, but DP is so funny when he gets his head chopped off and his brains blown out. Can you do that in PG-13?

Yes, if it's done in a comedic, less gory way. Maybe have him talking or thinking without his head as the body runs around trying to find it. The mpaa tends to be more tolerant of violence than sex or language.

Is this the deadpool we want to see? Maybe not, but it's a way to have him appeal to a wider audience.

This is so silly. Not allowed to talk about spoilers from the movie? but we read a review months ago that details everything that happens in the movie. If I talk about that review does that mean I'm giving out spoilers from the movie. I seriously want to know because I'm considering bowing out of the section alltogether because knowing me something is bound to slip at some point...

I'm not familiar with this plan of yours. But if it involves guns and katanas, it has me intrigued.

There are a lot of jokes I want to make, but they are not worth probation. :(

@danoyse

Seriously, can we talk about the spoilerish review or are we not allowed to talk about anything regarding the story, even a review that gives away the story?

You can talk about what we know of the story pre-leak. Just specific details of the plot, anything you've gotten from the bootleg is not allowed. I know people were unhappy about Deadpool's appearance before this, so that discussion can continue. Just don't discuss the leaked film or scenes from it.

If the review you're referencing is a review of the bootleg, it can't be discussed here. Fox is requesting that sites take down reviews, I just heard that a little while ago.

I know it's a lousy situation and it will be difficult to discuss it without referencing the bootleg, but it had to be done.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of swords is he using in the movie? I don't mean like brand or specific model, although that would be better, but just the kind. I'm not a sword "expert", so to me they look like Katanas. Is that right?

No, it's not a review of the bootleg, it's a review from a couple of months ago that appeared around the same time as those reviews on IMDB. At the time we dismissed because we thought it was ridiculous, but after seeing the leaked version it proved to be right. So the leaked version merely confirmed what we already knew from that review.

I guess we can't talk about it now that I think about it.

Gah... The more I think about the stupidity of this situation, the more it makes my head hurt. :waa:

As Yoda said "you must unlearn what you have learned." If you want to discuss this movie, at least. :o

Actually I think that review was written by someone who saw the same Workprint as the leaked version. The reviewer said it was not screened anywhere and he worked in the industry. He also said alot of the Effects were not done. Maybe that reviewer has something to do with the leak?

Well we can all argue that the review is fake. That's what everyone did back then.

It had us Deadpool fans going to Fox Studios, dressed up as Deadpool then destroying the place & killing Rothman. Then the worlds will see as heroes because hungry children all around the world will have food from nowhere, there will be world peace, racism will stop (you'll see ex KKKs hugging blacks, terrorists hugging Jews, etc...) & Marvel will get it's properties back.
:hehe:

Does this help?
