The Sarah Palin Thread: 'Controversial Controversy' Edition

I'm torn. Part of me wants her to run for President because the chances of her actually winning are pretty slim to none. Then again, if everyone though everyone else was voting and so they stayed home...

Of course we can't say if she would or wouldn't have done any better.....but damn, I had no idea that his lack of experience would be so BIIIIIIIIIIG..... my vote is biting me in the booty...

I'm not sure you should look at it that way. It's not like the GOP gave you much of a choice. They screwed the pooch royally during McCain's campaign. Palin was a huge reason for that failure.

Keep telling yourself that...

Palin has the general idea right (reducing government) even though she doesn't understand how to do that.

Obama has the general idea (expanding government) wrong. I am not even sure he has a better grasp on the situation than Palin. That's not a compliment to Palin but a statement resulting from how utterly lost and incompetent Obama has appeared.

And this from a guy who preferred Obama to McCain.

He has failed by lowest expectations.

She has the "general right idea" because she parrots talking-points that are (or have been) constantly fed to her. That's why she has no idea how to do what she talks about doing.

All Republicans want to reduce government so I wouldn't exactly give credit to her for that.

I don't care who provides her with the "general right idea" the fact is that someone who has been spoon fed the "general right idea" is always better than one who knows exactly how to implement the "general wrong idea".

Obama's incompetency is a plus, not a minus do to the fact his ideology is so bad,.

So you're cool with an incompetent puppet so long as they mirror your ideals. I'm really not sure how else to interpret what you're saying.

I would agree with this.

I'd rather someone fail at doing something that's going to make things worse if it succeeds.

Like unsuccessful suicide.

Which is also what Rush Limbaugh was saying in the quote that liberals LOVE to slam him for when he said that he hopes Obama fails.

Knowing what Obama's goals are, he (and I) hopes he fails.

I think that attitude is illustrative of the problem with American politics today, but if you're cool with it, that's fine.

Wasn't Rush one of the people calling people un-American for openly criticizing Bush? Or am I not remembering correctly?

Yes he was. If you didn't support President Bush, you were called an un-american terrorist sympathizer. Now, you're only a 'true patriot' if you criticize the President. It's funny how things change when the President has a 'D' next to their name.

Nobody should listen to Rush for starters.
It's like he (and people who expressed the same sentiments from 2001 - 2008) didn't realize that, somewhere down the road, there would be a sitting President that they disagree with. They're short-sighted, hypocritical idiots - but people do listen to them. That's the sad thing.

If Rush didn't do this specifically (because, again, I'm uncertain whether I remember correctly), there were plenty of strong voices on the right that did and are now revealing themselves to be shameless hypocrites on this matter.

Oh I have a cousin who listens to Rush and watches Sean Hannity...I want to beat his face in. If any of you know my poltical views...I am a liberal to him:dry:

My parents love to watch MSNBC (particularly Olbermann, Maddow and Matthews). They're supposedly taking a break. They also watch Real Time with Bill Maher, but I don't fault them for that...I find it hilarious.

But because I have criticized Obama and MSNBC on occasion, my father likes to call me a closet conservative.

Yea, pretty much.

I mean if I see Obama's ideology as evil I obviously would prefer a Beagle for President than someone who thinks like him.

This should be a rather obvious statement.

The only benefit to Progressives in power is the fact that they piss off most Americans when they are allow to actually act on their ideology. (FDR was popular for repealing prohibition and WWII, not the New Deal which led to Republicans taking control of the House and Senate and repealing most of the biggest programs), LBJ lost the entire South for Democrats because of Progressive Social Policy and Obama has created what I believe will be viewed as a Libertarian Revolution with the Tea Party. Obamacare will lead to a return to States Rights.

I have no words Norm. You're really better than this. Why you are turning over this new leaf is beyond me.

I ask because I did a google search on the matter and could not find anything. If you could provide a link I would appreciate it.
