Clone Wars The Season 5 Discussion Thread

Now THAT'S the Clone Wars I have been waiting for!!! Maul! ("that Sith pretender Dooku"...awesome!) Death Watch! Jabba! My boy Embo! The only thing missing was Cad Bane! I honestly don't remember the last time I enjoyed a Clone Wars episode this much...the writing, the voice acting, the animation...everything was outstanding. Great job by Dave and his entire crew!

Co-signed, absolutely brilliant episode, I think this could be the best arc yet for the series.

I just watched it, and it's definitely a great return to the level of quality we've come to expect from this show. Great action, good story, cool characters. Savage roaring at Embo was a great little moment. I also really enjoyed seeing the difference between the two brothers, Maul waking up and being calm and patient while Savage instantly went on the attack when he woke.

The bounty hunters certainly held their own, they were very lucky Maul showed mercy.

I wouldn't say four episodes too many. But the D-Squad arc would have worked as a one-shot episode as opposed to a four episode arc. It's a fun concept, but it dragged on way too long to the point where you were begging for it to be over.

Yeah, I mentioned that in a later post after the one you quoted. There was no reason for that arc to be anymore than a single episode, two at the most. Four was just ridiculous.

Great episode Maul took over the underworld really quickly which was impressive.

I wondered about the timeline of that as they went through the montage. He seemed to get it all organized in what, a day or two? But I wondered if maybe it just came off that way because of the montage and it actually took a matter of weeks. Still, even if it had taken years it would be impressive!

I was a bit surprised to see The Hutts fall in so easily, I thought they were more powerful (and careful) than that.

Things to love about this episode:

1. The Action

2. References to Darth Maul's stories in the Expanded Universe; Maul recognized Vizsla'a sigil because he'd been trained by a member of the original Death Watch which served under Pre's relative Tor. He also targetted Black Sun at least in part because he's very familiar with them, having wiped out their old leadership years ago.

3. The Action!

4. The voice work. Favreau and Witwer obviously love their roles and you can feel their enthusiasm seep through their scenes together.

5. The Action!

6. Expansion and development of characters. Maul continues to be built up as a more barbaric counter to Dooku, preferring to get his own hands dirty and leading from the front, but showing a good deal of attachment to his brother that adds a bit of humanity to his black heart. Meanwhile, Vizsla continues to display a certain amount of political charm to accompany his own barbarity-notice how he always talks as though he respects you, but he's only sincere as long as you seem to be a peer and share his goals. If you're weaker than he is or an obstacle, he's just trying to lower your guard.

when is Maul gunna get that sick Mando armor we saw in the trailer?

It may not actually be Maul in the armor. Might be one of his followers once he takes over Death Watch himself.

The only reason I don't see that is because that'd mean they'd have to introduce a brand new character. You just can't have armor that awesome looking and just be a background character:woot: Can't wait to start seeing 501st guys in that.

I'll join the club: fantastic episode! There wasnt a single thing i didnt like about it. I'm definitely looking forward to what's coming this second part of the season. I do get the feeling that [BLACKOUT]Satine could die at the hands of Maul in order to hurt Obi-Wan[/BLACKOUT].

Aaaaah that's more like it. That was an impressive episode.

I can't wait to see Maul in his Mando armour, the Mauldalorian! :D

Correct. Although he'll be "back with a vengeance" later according to Dave Filoni so I'm highly looking forward to that. Being stuffed by Asajj Ventress in a box is not the last image I want of him in the CW,lol

BTW, I have this crazy theory about two of the Death Watchers.

What if Pre Viszla and Bo-Katan are Mara Jade's parents? What if Mara Jade was Mandalorian?

Think about it: this would explain's Mara's fighting skills, personality and red hair.

Anyone check out today's episode, I heard someone bit the dust.

Just caught the very end, but you heard right.

Darth Sidious is the one who should of used a black lightsaber.

Dayum that was a hardcore episode. It was great seeing Maul go wild. This story arch is shaping up to be something incredible.

A funny thought occurs to me, as much as I've enjoyed the last two episodes -they seem kind of rushed. We got four episodes of a stupid droid arc which could have easily been done in one or two, but now we've got Maul building an enormous army and taking over planets in less than half the time spent following the droids. Oh well, I can only assume they're speeding through it in order to get to the really exciting stuff.

None the less, awesome stuff. The light sabre duel was superb as well as Maul and Savage's break out. I like Savage more and more. Sounds like we'll be seeing Obi Wan show up soon, it's going to be great seeing him and Maul go at it for round...3? 4? I also like the redhead Mandalorian girl now that's been betrayed.

Speaking of Mandalorians, was Jango the only one ever born with dark skin? It seems like every citizen of their planet is light skinned and more often than not sporting blonde hair to boot. Am I missing something?

Great episode, I'm loving this development of Maul, him and Savage strolling around the prison was great, and the Maul vs Vizsla duel was awesome, maybe the series best yet!

Jango is not a Mandalorian by birth.

Great episode Maul has become a very talented strategist more than the blunt instrument of death he was shown to be in phantom menance. I thought Maul was gonna wipe the floor with Pre vizla but he surprised me and died with honor. Which I didn't think theyd do on a Saturday morning show but yeah awesome stuff.

Ahh, I see. I checked Wookiepedia and it says he's from a planet called Concord Dawn, which is in a sector of Mandalorian space. So he's not technically a Mandalorian, although his culture his heavily influenced by them. Easy mistake to make!
