They may not have been fake. Maybe they were looking at Elysia Rotaru, but she lost out to Serinda Swan. They're both about the same level more or less. Maybe Swan might be a little higher. These could've been the types of actresses they were looking at.

I asked this in the costumes thread but it's worth bringing it up here.

Is Medusa's hair going to be entirely CGI or will she wear a wig for some scenes? That will be a lot of CGI to animate all the time for every scene she's in, which would be blowing a lot of their budget even on normal dramatic scenes with no action.

Unless they make it that she doesn't normally have long hair, and only in the scenes in which she uses her powers where it grows out. I could see them potentially going that route, although I don't like the sound of that.

I would rather she wore a very long wig for the whole series if she must. It would be rather cumbersome for Serinda Swan all the time though. But it's a better solution than her having short hair most of the time, or them spending all their money on her hair.

I suspect it'll be a wig with CGI enhancements when they want to show it move. Wigs are relatively cheap (even big ones) and can help ensure the right look consistently.

Having her hair be CGI constantly would be a needless expense. I'd be interested to see if they're going to go that route. You could use a static wig most of the time and CGI for when she's actually moving it around or fighting.

In addition to the expense, it would take up a lot of time. You don't want it rushed.

That being said, a gigantic human hair wig (since it's filmed in HD, so the detail matters) probably isn't cheap either.

That's why I wonder if she will have shorter hair most of the time but it just grows when she uses her powers. Or maybe she won't get long hair until the final episode.

Maybe it's an origin story, which will allow Blackbolt to speak before he gains his powers (even though I'm pretty sure he had it since he was a baby in the comics) and would allow Medusa to move around without the need for a wig or CGI hair.

I've been wondering the same thing. I have a feeling there will be a combination of practical and CGI. When her hair isn't in action it will be a wig.

I also have a feeling, she won't be in every episode and her screen time may be limited depending on the story.

Wow that was awesome.

I was just about to say I was pretty indifferent to her casting, but I guess I'm completely sold after that.

She's had some pretty consistent acting credits. Plenty of geek cred. Interesting elfish facial features.

The casting is coming together quite nicely.
