The Sound of Hellfire? (Ghost Rider's Voice)

"mechanic lion roars"? They said it has been lowered and they are playing around with it to get it right. I still hope that it is a low, rumbling that would not be out of place in a dark alley and scare the kids in the theatre. "Shake the theatre", that sounds fun.
On the bike, it should be able to out-match a Harley with no exhaust easily.

I think the lion roars was just an example of things they'll add to the sound mix to give it a 'roar', ya know? It's not actually going to sound like Simba or anything.

I'm also assuming that it'll get more intense as he become's more angry, or when he wants to make a point. His normal conversation (if there is any) will probably be scary... but not intense.

The lion roars could go to the bike's sound. I can imagine that happening easier than in a voice, but I don't know what all they can do to the voices. I guess I will just find out when the trailers come out.

Oh, crappy deity of crappiness, i've just realized that whathever amazing work they will do to GR Voice, i won't hear it in original, as it will be recreated in the translation to italian... If wasn't enough to live in a fourth-last country to get the movie ...
Well probably the USA dvd will come out before 13 october, right?

Wow, that's pretty ****ty. I never thought about dubbed voices like that before. I wonder what it'll sound like... and if they'll spend as much time working on it as they do the original?

The lion isn't going to sound like a lion... like a roar or anything. I think what they mean't is they wanted to get that growling sound mixed in with Nic's voice, along with many other things. They just wanna make it scary... and I'm sure you're not going to realize what sounds were used. You'll not hear the lion, just a underlying roar.

I hope so too. I'm hoping DVD is going to be huge with details on everything!!

Isn't it cool that not only are we Ghost Rider fans frothing at the mouth to see what our favourite hero will look like, but what he'll sound like too? Double the anticipation. Double the fun.

Well, the bike was unveiled and looked cool as hell; the artwork so far for GR looks great; so I reckon the sound guys will deliver on his 'theatre shaking' voice. When I hear him speak for the first time, I may very well poo myself with excitement.

And that's not something I do often.

:D

As much as I am excited about how Ghost Rider's voice will sound, I'm equally pumped about all the sounds in the movie. The guy who's credited as the sound editor (Dane A. Davis: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0204424/) has a pretty impressive resume, having worked on such films as the Matrix Trilogy and The Forgotten. I choose these movies from his huge list because I know they used sound to a very effective way. The sound of a movie is key to making it believable, as everyone knows.

I have all the faith in the world in this team, including Dane... who by the way has worked on a whole bunch of horror flicks as well... which interestes me to no end.

I liked sooooomuch the low engine sound, and my heart just jumped 3 beats when i heard the sound of the spikes shooting out!
Very good effects, very promising.

I was a huge fan of that low rumblin' motor as well. About halfway through the footage, when the boom turned into the rumblin' motor was awesome. That's when I was almost pooin' my pants.

Seein' the spikes shooting out was awesome. Never really noticed how cool it sounded because I was too caught up on how cool it looked!

A little update from MSJ himself; http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?t=188064

Hey guys. What's up? Sorry I've been gone so long. It's late on Friday night and I have a moment to myself so I thought I'd check back in and see how you're all doing. Things are going great on the G.R. front. In fact, today I got to hear the Ghost Rider's voice for the first time!!! My Sound Designer is Dane Davis, who won the Academy Award for The Matrix, and is a true genius when it comes to creating new sounds. To start with, Dane took Nic's reading of all of the Ghost Rider's lines, filtered them through 3 different kinds of animal growls (played backwards, covering three separate frequencies) then played it through a mechanical volumizer, before finally setting the whole thing on fire! It's fantastic. Picture a deep, demonic, mechanical lion's roar and you'll get an idea of what he sounds like. One thing is for sure -- his voice will shake the theatre!

I wanna shake now!!!

Man... I get chills every time I read this little report from MSJ. I can't wait until we get to hear him for the first time. I think I'm more anxious about that than I am the look of him.

It's awesome that they have an acadamy award winner workin' on the sound as well... especially when that person worked on a movie as huge as Matrix. Sound was so very important in that flick... as it is in every one, I guess. It sure is refreshing to know we have the very best here though.

Is ghost rider being voiced by Nickolas Cage with a distorted voice or is it completely different guy?

yup..Cage is doing all the voice work but will be heavily distorted w/ sound fx

I'm really looking forward to his voice. When MSJ described it to us a while back I couldn't get the smile off my face for an hour. I have such high hopes for it now.

They could probably manipulate Cage's voice to something very disturbing.

I hope they cover up NC voice sense NC is the only thing I don't seem to like about the movie.

As awesome as it was to see Ghost Rider for the first time, I'm extreamly interested in hearing him for the first time. Pehaps in the next clip, ya think?

From a previous Q&A with MSJ...

I hope it will be Nic Cage who voices him,but with a slighter more grittier frighting voice.
