In about 100 posts I'll have to put to rest another wrestling thread:csad:

These go by WAYYY to quickly. I'm guessing by Raw or during Raw a new one will need to be made

Report: Forensics reveals cause behind Eddie "Umaga" Fatu's December death
By Brian Cantor
Mar 1, 2010 - 10:35:46 AM

Harris County forensics investigator Dan Morgan reportedly confirmed to Wrestling Babylon's Irv Muchnick that Eddie "Umaga" Fatu's December death was officially caused by "acute toxicity due to combined effects of hydrocodone, carisoprodol, and diazepam."

Hydrocodone, a narcotic pain reliever (commonly misspelled "hydrocone"), Carisoprodol, a muscle relaxer (commonly traded as Soma) and Diazepam, an anti-anxiety medication (commonly traded as Valium), all come from drug categories historically identified as warning areas for members of the professional wrestling industry.

The "acute toxicity" label does not rule out the possibility that Fatu was chronically using these drugs but simply means that the death was directly attributed to use within a relatively short period of time.

It should be noted that the Muchnick report, perhaps designed to generate additional headlines and buzz, incorrectly refers to the late Umaga as "WWE wrestler" and "World Wrestling Entertainment performer." Umaga had actually been released in the summer of 2009 for a Wellness Policy violation--at the time of the release, WWE sources said he refused to go to rehab.

Not really unexpected.

Thats a song...especially compared to what Bischoff and his backers offered.

Bischoff has said part of the reason the deal fell through is because they didn't have any tv to air the show on.

Without tv WCW was almost worthless except the video library and even then you've have to have the resourses to utilize and profit from it.

I have a good title for the next thread:

Batista's Brothel

not having any tv was definitely the killer, he's talked about it a couple times and alluded to, when he was making the offer he was told he would have airtime for a short time to shop WCW around and then when the merger happened, that option was taken away

whether that's what happened, Im not sure

I can believe it. Think about how badly WWE would be hurt if just USA dropped Raw. There's not exactly tons of networks beating Vince's door down to pick up his shows.

IF MNTV folds Smackdown may not even have a home. WGN doesn't reach as many people. Same for SyFy. Vince has a 25 year relationship with NBC and we haven't seen SNME in a while. Even then its ratings weren't that great.

USA offers them more than any of those other networks.

USA doesn't need Raw, due to the success of their other original programming. It's pretty much the other way around.

I think it's fair to say that the Knockouts division has seen better days (by far).

It's still okay, but it was a hell of a lot better back when woman like Gail Kim were setting TNA on fire. This was also back when Awesome Kong was an unstoppable monster, ODB was the female Stone Cold and woman like Taylor Wilde were just making a splash.

So, I can definitely see where you are coming from.

And I think TNA shows that any good worker like Gail Kim or Victoria will fare much better than they would in WWE for a number of reasons that have to do with looks and whose the better road beef ;)

No Knockout love for Jacqueline...

She who can keep the animal (Batista) calm is a valuable employee(s)

He does tend to rattle on, but he still manages to be entertaining. Tis is what bugged me about Storm's rant too because The Rock would rattle on and go off on unrelated tangents all the time in his promos. I'm not saying Anderson is the Rock, but he's still a very good talker. But By Storm's reasoning that a bad promo by The Rock too then.

Well The Rock often cut self serving promos that undermined his opponent and thus the match, but he was way cleverer than Anderson with the bombastic wise ass schtick, plus he was 100x more over which meant the interest remained high.

And yes Anderson's ringwork is severely lacking, which is why I'm glad he's fueding with Angle since Kurt makes everyone look better. Anderson's natural charisma and promos are enough that he doesn't need to be great in the ring though, just solid.

I'm not sure b/c I don't think he is that charismatic or good on the mic in his current incarnation, plus in TNA they push the good workers in the ME so it will expose him more than in the WWE.

Angle and Styles had been done to death so AJ needed to move on. They could've kept the Joe thing running longer, but they did plant the seeds for Pope and AJ fued during Impact when Pope pinned AJ. Plus Joe and Styles has been done numerous times too so I'm not broken up that they left it. Pope winning the tournament was the perfect set up for those two and it doesn't really feel hotshotted. I think there's plenty there to be invested since they've booked it well. They've been establishing Pope as a top guy and the chracters involved will make this very good. The key will be to have the fued go on for a few months.

Joe and Styles have not had a World title program with their characters in the current place to my knowledge, in fact I can't recall a Joe/AJ feud since their XD days unless that 3 way one month feud last October counts.
Angle was coming into the feud as a face for a change. The other thing is that now AJ and Pope will have their first PPV match inside a cage which is ass backwards booking.

Agreed. I don't care for the booking of EB's fueds and it makes no sense for him to be full on heel while Hogan is a face, but EB plays his role perfectly. I enjoy him way more than McMahon.

Oh he's better than Vince as Vince has become an odious over the top caricature.

I'm not crazy about Morgan, but he can be a huge star. He has a great look and plays an effective heel. His mic skills have improved a lot since he's learned he doesn't have to talk at ludicrous speed. If the new regime gets behind him and doesn't blow it like TNA did after his Bound For Glory match with Angle, they have a star.

I think what makes him stand out is he is not a freakish monster despite his size, instead he has what made Nash a star, the look and mic skills that are uncommon in a giant, add to that he is a much better athlete than Nash ever was and there is huge drawing potential there.

I was thinking the same thing about Morgan. With time he could not only be the next Nash but be better than Nash in almost every way. He doesn't have Nash's natural charisma or comedic timing but he's got a certain likability.

Good athlete and quick for his size too. I'm just surprised Vince let him go. He's been obsessed with other big men who were far worse.

Vince's act got old a long time ago. I think the feud with DX was almost the last drop they could squeeze out of his heel character and even that wasn't anything special. He's a total cartoon now. The Bret Hart return is the only interesting thing thats keeping the Mr McMahon character on life support.

Bischoff always seemed be more natural as a heel authority figure. Even he said he was projecting a lot of himself and that its not really all that exaggerated.

Aww come on guys I"m sure Edge will be a good face. I think he'll do well. He may end up like HHH used to be eventually, meaning he can only go so long as a face and has to be a heel before the year is over.

And too, want Jericho to retain.

Hey I am enjoying Edge as a face, he's still probably my favorite thing in all WWE right now, since DX is all but broken up. Like I said, I think his current arc is working with him as a face, I like the direction, but he's even better as a heel. In fact, I feel he's the best heel in the company right now, and I'd prefer to see him used that way.

By using terms like "TNA fanboys" you show what a WWE mark you are. We all like WRESTLING. I like both WWE and TNA. We aren't beholden to one brand or company out of some blind ideology or brainwashing.

I watch WWE because for the longest time growing up, I was never able to watch wrestling because my parents didn't have cable. So I wasn't able to start watching wrestling until SmackDown! came around on network TV, and I was able to watch that. I fell in love with it, and as I got more and more into it, I would have a friend of mine record Raw for me on Monday nights so I could watch it.

Now that I do have cable, and have access to any wrestling I want, I continue to watch WWE (or I should saw have come back around to it) because I'm familiar with it, I like the characters (Triple H, Vince, Edge, Shawn Michaels, Mysterio, etc...), so I watch it. I got no beef with TNA, fact I've never seen a TNA, I just never watch it more because I'm not really interested enough to watch 2 different wrestling shows (I guess technically 3, since I already watch Raw and SmackDown!). It might be better, or worse than WWE, I don't know, I'm just content with watching my WWE. That's why you don't see me taking part in any of the TNA conversation.

I know you weren't talking to me or anything, I just kinda felt like sharing that story, although I guess it doesn't have much to do with anything...

New thread soon? Sweet!

Straight Edge Society the name of it right?

Ok so I just found out the Supershow I'm going to on the 22nd is the Monday before Mania and all three shows will be taped that night!

Awesome Kong Appears To Be Gone From TNA Wrestling
By Michael Bluth
Mar 1, 2010 - 4:47:35 PM

TNA Knockout Awesome Kong has apparently parted ways with the company, according to a message she posted on ***********/awesomekong.

Kong thanked TNA president Dixie Carter and all of the TNA employees for wishing her the best in her future endeavors.

The former Knockouts champion announced last week that she is suing radio host Bubba The Love Sponge for allegedly making racist threats against her. Bubba issued a statement refuting the allegations.

Big loss to TNA. I hope they weren't dumb enough to keep Bubba on and thats what made Kong decide to leave.

She's worth more to the company than that piece of fecal matter is. Bubbas "Army" hasn't done jack for TNA.
