Did King’s German publisher Heyne jump the gun on announcing King’s next book? Well, they did announce it. The release date is June 12 next year and the title is You Like It Darker. They even have a cover already…

Hopefully the US and UK announcements will follow and maybe then we’ll know what stories will be included.

'You like it darker? Fine, so do I', writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life - both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to read. King writes to feel 'the exhilaration of leaving ordinary day-to-day life behind', and in You Like it Darker, readers will feel that exhilaration too, again and again.

'Two Talented Bastids' explores the long-hidden secret of how the eponymous gentlemen got their skills. In 'Danny Coughlin's Bad Dream', a brief and unprecedented psychic flash upends dozens of lives, Danny's most catastrophically. In 'Rattlesnakes', a sequel to Cujo, a grieving widower travels to Florida for respite and instead receives an unexpected inheritance - with major strings attached. In 'The Dreamers', a taciturn Vietnam vet answers a job ad and learns that there are some corners of the universe best left unexplored. 'The Answer Man' asks if prescience is good luck or bad and reminds us that a life marked by unbearable tragedy can still be meaningful.

King's ability to surprise, amaze, and bring us both terror and solace remains unsurpassed. Each of these stories holds its own thrills, joys, and mysteries; each feels iconic. You like it darker? You got it.

Felt the same way when they announced Dr. Sleep, the Shining sequel. :)

So, dear people. I'm seeking to read another book by Stephen. And I've narrowed it to 2 options:

Pet Sematary.

Salem's Lot.
Now, I probably will eventually read both, but.

Which one would you recommend if I were to read only one?

Now, I've seen the IT Movies, Cujo, and other movies, but I've only read Carrie, Cicle of the Werewolf, and On Writing (My favourite). I prefer more standalone stuff, and more classic vibes to my horror, and both options seem to be up my alley, but I'd like your input.

A Cujo Sequel? Hopefully he will remember having written this one. :whoops:

I second that, Pet Sematary is one of my favorite King books.

Great news for all fans of Joe Hill. He just confirmed on Bluesky that his upcoming book King Sorrow will be about as long as NOS4A2 (just over 700 pages) when it’s released in 2025.

THE EXTRA HOUR: NEW STEPHEN KING SHORT STORY!

From Cemetery Dance:

Stephen King has delivered a brand new short story for Cemetery Dance #79, and it's a classic tale of terror from the master of horror. This story will NOT appear in his new collection coming out later this year!!

"Soames thought Jim Danton had looked bad two months ago; he looked worse now. Twenty pounds had fallen off him, maybe more. The dark bags under his eyes were darker than ever. The eyes themselves were bloodshot. His graying hair had thinned appreciably..."

I love Joe Hill! He's just as good as his dad. :D

CARRIE, 50 YEARS TODAY!

Today we celebrate that it’s 50 years since Carrie was released and King became a published author. Today he has published a total of 88 books during 50 years. That is an average of 1,76 books a year, every year, for 50 years. Very impressive if you ask me.

Personally, I want to take this opportunity to thank Steve for all the stories and hopefully there are many more to come. Thanks Steve and congratulations on 50 great years!

Now something might be thinking "Didn't I read somewhere that Carrie was released on April 5, 1974?". Well, you might. Some online sources list the release date for the book as April 5th, others as April 4th. It’s up to each and every one to decide what date you want to see as the release date (it’s hard to know for sure with such an old book) but what makes me believe that April 4 is the correct date is that King himself says so in the invitation to the book's 25th anniversary party.

Both are good but I liked Pet Sematary better. :)
Pet Semetary is great, but I always feel that everything starts to feel a little rushed once he buries his son's body. That being said, I do still prefer it to Salem's Lot.

Seeing Shawshank get one for the film’s anniversary has me a bit surprised I haven’t seen anything about a 50th anniversary of Carrie.

ALWAYS HOLLY: NEW BOOK, TALISMAN 3 & THE DARK TOWER

Posted: July 10, 2024, 11:17
Section: Book » The Talisman 3
King was just interviewed in the podcast Talking Scared and here are some of the things he said:

He talks about the new book, You Like It Darker and mentions that he totally forgot about The Music Room but that it probably will be in the paperback edition.

His next book will be called Always Holly and in it we will see Holly as a bodyguard for a woman being stalked. Not sure if this os the book previous known as We Think Not.

He has read The Talisman and will read Black House and then see if that leads to him writing The Talisman 3.

He also says that Roland’s main story is done. Might mean we won’t get any more Dark Tower books/stories but then you never know with King.

Listen to the full pod where you usually find your pods.
