The Official Musical Theatre Thread II - Part 2

Don’t think I mentioned it on here back when it’s happened, but I saw Hamilton at the Kenned Center last year. Someone I know won $10 tickets the last week they were available and invited me along. It was brilliant. I was vibrating with excitement.

hamilton is coming here in december. i'm already putting money aside to splurge on a ticket

I got a last minute, an hour before curtain, ticket to The Who's Rock Opera Tommy.

I'm thinking about taking my 8 year old to see Beetlejuice in NYC. I hear it's not as graphic as the DC production.

I can't think of anything I saw that would be automatically bad for an 8 year old to see. Anything risque is written so a someone too young won't get it. Still, this is me you're talking to, so approach with caution.

Lol, I let him watch Us yesterday, and for some reason he found Glass absolutely ticklish. I also just introduced him to The Boondocks. He's on a fast track to risque exposure at the moment.

Looks like my next 2 shows will be Cher and Hadestown.

^ i'd like to see those

i finally made it to NY. didn't get to see any shows though :(

I just saw Beetlejuice. He'll be fine. A few F-bombs in there, but otherwise nothing he can't handle.

As for my thoughts on the show -- Exhausting, but entertaining.

Saw the trailer for Cats. Not sure how I feel about it lol
Has anyone who has seen the show chime in?
I do know the Memory song though

I'm one of the few people in the world apparently who's intrigued by the trailer. I'm interested, because they're basically retooling the storyline to make two background dancers the central protagonists.

As in the actors or the characters becoming central?

The characters. The white cat Victoria, who has not even a single solo line in the musical, looks like the main POV character in the movie. And Alonzo, the cat with black patches on his eyes, is just a background dancer and chorister in the show, and looks like Victoria's love interest.

I think I read in the thread that someone said idris elbas character has no words in the show but I saw a featurette where he mentioned he was about to start singing his number or something to that effect.

Yeah, they're rewriting things so Idris Elba's Macavity has dialogue and I think even his own solo number.

Aladdin, last night with my son. Not enough Jafar.

So the Cher show, It wasn't probably a show I would want to see on my own but it thought was enjoyable.

Hadestown was amazing and really would recommend people to go see it. Now I just have to go back when they have programs.

I promise all of you that the place in which I live is not this nice, but this shows how the panorama function can make a cramped condo look like the Lincoln Centre.
