The Superhero Cinematic Civil War of Tomorrow Thread - Part 62

2022 was a great horror year, especially if you include The Batman.

There were some good ones that year but Nope still sticks out to me the most and it's all because of what happened to Jupe's costar who got attacked by Gordy. Imagine surviving a chimp attack and getting your face ripped off only to die horribly 25 years later by being slowly digested alive by some giant alien jellyfish thing. I think about that a lot.

Halloween Kills/Ends are two of the crappiest excuses for legacy sequels/horror films I have ever seen. I’m just glad I watched them on streaming at no extra cost. I would have been so angry if I had paid money for that crap. It’s hard to say what the worst Halloween sequel is (and you have a LOT to choose from) but those two really make the case for it.

The Rob Zombie ones are probably worse and some of those ones in the late 90s are also absolute trash but Kills/Ends had a chance to really end it on a high note after 2018, which wasn’t too bad. But then they just took it in one stupid direction after another.

Did Anthony Michael Hall win a Razzie for his performance? Because he sure deserved to.

I'm not much of a fan of Kills or Ends but both of them are god tier compared to Halloween Resurrection. F*** that movie. Even the Rob Zombie movies are better than that one, but not by much in the case of his Halloween 2.

Oh yeah that’s the one with Busta Rhymes. I never saw that one. I checked out after H20 back then.

You know one character I noticed yall seldom bring up in these horror discussions?

THE GOAT

The Nancy trilogy (original, Dream Warriors, and New Nightmare) are GOAT status.

Also Freddy vs. Jason is worth it for Katherine Isabelle.

Better than '78?
The original is a good movie but one that I've never really loved. Too simple outside of Pleasence rocking. Carpenter has done so much better himself. The Thing, Big Trouble, Escape from NY, They Live, and Precinct 13 are all much better films imo.

As a dad, I think about that scene and the kids in the audience being digested by Jean Jacket all the time. It makes me nauseous.

Darn you Jordan Peele for messing with me this way!

Takes a nerd to know a nerd, sir :sneeze:

All I’m saying is that in my day, those cartoon movies were distinctive.

IYKYK.

Sidebar, but this Demon Slayer success is going to give Hollywood more ideas. They’re just about to bleach and ruin Gundam soon. 😭

Gundam has always been a bit more multi ethnic than other animes. Especially the modern ones.

Just going to wait patiently for the next Gundam series after Sunrise is done with Ronin Warriors.

I go back and forth between The Thing and Assault on Precinct 13 when I am rating best Carpenter films

They're abysmal movies, I agree. That said, 85% of those movies are bad lol! The original Halloween is a classic. But beyond that, there is what....2 or maybe 3 decent sequels? Out of like 12 movies, and one of the better ones was the one that was about witches. But yeah, Kills and Ends suck. Big time suck
