The Superhero Cinematic Civil War of Tomorrow Thread - Part 62

The main thing I know about The Thing remake is that they made puppet versions of the creatures, only to paint them out and replace them with CGI versions.
I’m really fighting the urge to go full on geek here and point out that The Thing 1982 is actually a loose remake of the 1951 film The Thing from Another World (actually the 1982 film is a more direct adaptation of the book that the 1951 film is based on called “Who Goes There.”)

The 2011 film is not a remake, it’s a prequel.

So for fans of Enter Electro on PSone, you may or may not know that an ending cutscene featuring Thor was cut from the final game. At the time Activision had the scene posted on their website for whatever reason and that's how I first saw it. The site was eventually taken down and the clip was gone. For the last 24 years, this scene was lost to time...until now lol.

Someone on Reddit found a comment I made years ago talking about it and shared this link to me. Apparently some dude downloaded the clip from the site and had it tucked away in a hard drive all these years. Legitimately made my day, cause I knew I had seen it but had no proof of it's existence.

Let's make a supercut... But then the clash of dodgy CGI and practical effects.

For the 20th anniversary, they need to do a director’s cut with the original opening, pretty much all of the scenes that were changed or removed and all the practical effects put back in.

If they did that, I would totally buy it. If not, that’s just money that they’re leaving on the table.

I get he’s the most recognizable and it’ll make money, but God, I pray for the day that Marvel/Disney realize there are WAY more mutants than Wolvie.

The game looks good though.

Hey now, there was some implication you can play a second mutant in that trailer...

Mystique.

Well that was fast...

But a note to Netflix:
Demon Slayer isn't One Piece...considering the setting of the story, casting all the characters besides Japanese, would be unacceptable.
Demon Slayer is more like Rurouni Kenshin where all the setting and characters are 99,99% Japan.

IYKYK.

Sidebar, but this Demon Slayer success is going to give Hollywood more ideas. They’re just about to bleach and ruin Gundam soon. 😭

My friend...they are already targeting and fast tracking Demon Slayer as we speak lol😅
I suspect Netflix wants to milk this thing while its still hot

You know one character I noticed yall seldom bring up in these horror discussions?

THE GOAT

Freddy is definitely iconic, friend...
But only one horror character that scares me to this day...that is Pinhead.
There is an eerie and unmatched terrifying presence with him 😬

I hope, like Spider-Man, they will tease Laura in this and she become a playable character in the second game.

Did any other elder millennials always look at the box art of horror/slasher movies at the video store when they were a kid? Not being allowed to watch them as a kid, they had a certain mystique about them that made you want to watch them and know more.
I’m too old to be a millennial, but for kids in the early 1980’s, we had a similar infatuation with Faces of Death, which may or may not have had footage of real deaths in the films. There were always kids in middle and then high school who claimed to have actually seen the film, and they were viewed with trepidation, like someone who had seen unspeakable horrors, while the rest of us were fascinated, but too uneasy with the content to actually watch it. Just seeing the video case, which advertised that the film had been banned in something like 50 countries and had only a skull on the cover, piqued every young kid’s curiosity, even if we were too afraid to even think about watching the footage.

I mean, they didn't toss in an american in House of Ninja. Which, hey Netflix, give me an update. Please.

I think it all depends on which of their production companies they use.

yeah, I'd be more open to the idea of Demon Slayer live action if Netflix just let Netflix Japan and Japanese production studios to handle all the creatives, just like they did with House of Ninja, Alice in Borderland and City Hunter.
The same thing when WB Japan has done it with Rurouni Kenshin.

I hope they do that, but given how huge the anime was, I dread that Netflix wants to make this an English language show (like One Piece or Cowboy Beebop) to gain more hype and exposure from the mainstream.

With our luck we'd end up with the Se7en 4K treatment. Strange decisions like changing curtains into doors removing smudges on glasses for the sake of clarity and high definition.

Love the fact that Wolverine actually looks short. They nailed it.
Yeah noticed that too
He's not like 5'3" short, which would- lets be honest- look ridiculous, but probably a 5'6" or 5'7"

Lots of uppercuts and jumping on people to meet them at eye level
They put a lot of thought into how a shorter guy would fight, gotta love Insomniac
