I saw BB yesterday, I loved it btw, and most of the audience were all these beefy 20 something guys...

Which was quite a treat for the eyes for me, but I wonder if my hubby noticed my checking out the younger, hunkier guys? ;)

:D

Of course, there was all that eye candy on the screen too. ;)

Y'know, I didn't even think to notice the demographic breakdown for the helluvit. I was just so excited to see the film - again LOL. The IMAX theater I went to WAS sold out though, and it sold out early. Good thing we pre-ordered our tix. CB really made that film awesome. He's such a perfect BW/Batman.

[bites tongue]

I won't say it, but y'all know what I'm thinking. :p

Oh, I normally don't notice that kinda thing in general terms, but we were close to first in line for that showing and so I saw most of the rest of the audience come in.

From what I saw the demo was wide ranging:

There were seniors and younger moms and dads with their kids in addition to the larger than usual contingent of brawny men.

Do heavily muscled men not usually go to films in packs? I seemed to notice several groups of cut guys arrive together... it was enough to get my attention, anyway.

LOL! Yep, I do.

I loved CB but poor Katie "soon to be the next ex-Mrs. Tom Cruise" Holmes can't act her way out of a paper bag... she was underwhelming at best.

Hey all, I havent been around in a while and just wanted to pop in. I spent the last 9 days in Tehran, Iran at a friend's wedding (they both live here but since shes from there they had to have one wedding there for her family). I had a surprisingly good time, as it was a great cultural experience and recharged my battery by being able to disconnect from my hectic life for a bit. It's nice to just be unplugged from the mainstream too..

I saw BB before I left at WizardWorld East. Thought the movie was really good though some parts of it were lacking. I also see now that the box office numbers arent quite meeting expectations. I'm gonna keep an eye on this and see what happens, as this may have a dramatic impact on what happens with that "other" film with the bad casting coming out next summer.I can honestly say I'm not surprised by how BB is doing, as the big DC characters have already had 4 films done a piece and the general novelty of it all is lost on the general public.

I was also a bit disappointed to see that there's been no SV news. Thought we might have had atleast some rumors or casting.

In good time...it's only been one month since the Finale aired.

Wow.. what a interesting trip that must have been.

I could have told TPTB (if they had asked) that this wouldn't do Spidey numbers. It's not a kids film.. and Spidey was HUGE with younger children. That's my anecdotal marketing opinion in any case. I can see FF, unless it gets horrible reviews, doing pretty good summer movie money as well.

Despite box office numbers, I love this darker, edgier Batman. It's exactly what I wanted to see in a new Batman movie.

Yep.

What she said.

Loved it, but it's probably not for everyone.

I knew it wouldn't do Spidey box office, no one else ever will probably.

The funny thing is that I almost never went. My friend wanted someone to go with him and his parents basically told him "thanks but no thanks". So being I was his best man at their wedding here, I agreed to go with him after mulling it over for a long while, and he paid for 1/2 my ticket.

So? What was it like? I have no idea what Iran would be like to tour. How is the food? Is there political tension for an American traveling there? You're a braver soul than I.. I don't think I could have gone, no matter how much I love to see other countries.

It's very hot there but its a lot more modernized than you think. I was actually in the capital city though so I'm sure the outskirts werent as modern looking. The food was alright, a lot of rice and vegetables, and if you get meat it's on a kabob. Alcohol is illegal whcih kind of sucked, so I stuck with fruit juice.

I didnt notice any real political tension there. There were a good number of "westerners" there that I saw so I didnt stand out too much since I have dark hair and grew facial hair for the trip. I didnt try to outwardly show I was American, and just kept to myself most of the time. The people I did talk with didnt hate America, in fact they were interested to know what its like to live here. Though they did seem a bit uneasy about the US atacking them like we did Iraq, and they seriously dislike President Bush, which I cant say I blame them for.

It's a little tougher for a woman to go there than it is a man, as youd have to adhere to the customary dress for women or youd be detained and deported. Theyre not as strict there in that regard as say the Taliban, but women did have to wear these coats with head scarves, which couldnt have been comfortable on 90+ degree days

I just watched the Stray/Ryan arc again.. *sob*

There's so much going on in those episodes about Lex and Clark, about superheroes, about Clark dealing head on with not being able to save the day...

Gosh, I love those eps.

Interesting article...

$500 mil pic fund feeds Warner Bros.
WB, Tull tally pix for Legendary film slate
By PAMELA MCCLINTOCK

NEW YORK -- Warner Bros. Pictures has made a deal with venture capitalist Thomas Tull's Legendary Pictures, which will invest $500 million in a slate of films they will jointly produce.

Tull told Daily Variety that Legendary and Warners would be 50-50 co-financing partners on 25 films to be produced over the course of the multiyear pact. The slate will include films developed by Legendary, which is backed by a cadre of private equity funds.

Legendary's president is former TriStar production head Chris Lee, who is producing "Superman Returns" for Warners.

Larry Clark, former chief financial officer of Creative Artists Agency, is Legendary's chief operating officer and CFO, while marketing vet Scott Mednick is chief marketing officer. William Fay, previously president of Centropolis Entertainment, is Legendary president of physical production.

Warners and Legendary intend to team up on major event releases and varied genre films, which the studio will distribute.

Warners' other major co-financingpartner on the lot is Village Roadshow. Warners led the majors in inking one of the first such co-financing pacts in the early 1990s with New Regency Prods., which is now at 20th Century Fox.

"From the very beginning, we built this plan specifically around private equity and returns," Tull told Daily Variety. "I myself would not have done this deal six or seven years ago. But the advent of DVD and overseas expansion of the box office has made the movie business much more attractive as an asset class."

Tull, who serves as Legendary's chair and CEO, will move to Los Angeles from Atlanta. He was most recently director of media and entertainment holding company the Convex Group.

Tull incorporated Legendary nearly a year ago, but kept the company's formation under wraps.

"As the process of mounting, marketing and distributing motion pictures remains highly competitive and costly, we welcome the partnership of a skilled, knowledgeable team who can help us manage our risk as we continue to develop and produce top-quality filmed entertainment for the global marketplace," Warners president and chief operating officer Horn said in a statement.

Legendary's investors include ABRY Partners, AIG Direct Investments, Banc of America Capital Investors, Columbia Capital, Falcon Investment Advisors and M/C Venture Partners. San Francisco-based investment banking firm Perseus acted as financial adviser to Legendary Pictures in the transaction.

Legendary is expected to be based on the Warners' lot, where some execs noted that the cash infusion from private equity was a "vote of confidence" for the movie biz.

Recently, Marvel Enterprises pacted with Merrill Lynch to produce a slate of films that will be distributed by Paramount. Under the arrangement, Marvel will have access to a $525 million revolving credit line over seven years to produce up to 10 pics with budgets ranging from $45 million to $180 million.

Merrill Lynch's collateral is a batch of 10 Marvel characters, including Captain America, the Avengers and Nick Fury.

Pssstt... Um, Mr. Horn, investors LOVE built-in audiences for the motion pictures they fund, doncha know? *ahem*

Just one of several reasons why Iran isn't on my list of places to vacation in the future. Were you traveling with any womenfolk, and did it bother them to have to cover themselves? The whole concept makes me sort of crazy (being an American woman with attitude). I would do it if I had to, since it goes with the territory, but my preference is to simply not put myself in a position of having to.

I'm triple posting... Isn't that considered spamming? :D

Anyway, here's yet another vid.. but one I think *every* fan of SV will really enjoy. The clips cover a lot of ground and are beautifully matched to the pacing and tone of the music.

The closing clip is one everyone here will appreciate too. ;)

Very nicely done, the timing was great and I'm glad she avoided using clips of the actors talking...

Thanks for posting that...

dont mean to kill the mood, but this is something I have to tell someone :(

mickey.jpg

This is Mickey. He was my 6 yr old cat. I've had him basically since he was born, when I watched his mother give birth in the shed of a house I was renting at the time. Last night I came home from work around 6 and he greeted me at the door as always. He was his normal self, ate like a cow when I fed him. He liked to play a game we called "hide the face" where he'd crouch up behind something where I couldnt see him, and I'd duck behind a door, and pop my head out slowly then he'd proceed to run up and bop me on the head. He did this last night too.

About 8 o'clock last night I heard this very strange "meow" come from under one of the beds. So lifted up the bed and found him breathing very weirdly, almost like he had a bad hairball but a lot worse. I give him special hairball food so I knew it wasnt that. Then I noticed his back legs went completely limp and they were cold to the touch. At this point I was freaked out and ran him down the street to the vet hospital. I knew it wasnt good, but I wasnt expecting what the Vet would tell me. She said that he had "cardiomyopathy" and suffered what amounted to a stroke because of a blood clot, and there was really nothing she could do except ease his suffering. She said it something that happens in a lot of cats even young ones liek him. The vets always told me Mick had a small heart murmur but that it was nothing really serious, and only be concerned if he lost a lot of weight, which he never did. I dont know if it was related at all.

So I had to make the god awful decision to put down my 6 yr old buddy, who just hours before hand, was as spry and mischevious as always. I said my goodbyes and held him as he went, all the while trying to fight back a stream of tears, to uphold my image as the raging tough guy. That lasted until I got back to the car without him.

Anyway, I had about the worst night's sleep of my life and kept wanting to wake up and have it be some kind of crappy dream. But alas, it was not. I havent had the heart to put away his food bowls or any of his toys as I think I half expect to see him sitting in his window where he liked to watch the birds and squirrels from. I feel like someone shot me in the gut, and my house feels really empty now. I have to make a decision today on what I want done with him. Dont know why I chose to dump this on all of you, perhaps its therapeutic to some extent. Anyway thanks for listening.

:( :( :( :(

I'm sorry Hulk... I really am.

You have my deepest sympathies.

Oh, Hulk.. I'm so sorry. Your story brings tears to my eyes as I'm a big cat lover and my own Roxy is now 15 yrs. old. I just noticed yesterday that her breathing is getting somewhat labored and I'm afraid she seems to sliding downhill. She falls a lot now when she tries to jump on the desk to sit by me and it breaks my heart, so I bend down to pick her up most of the time.

Your Mickey was a really beautiful cat.. what gorgeous markings. Six years is too short a life, but he was obviously well loved and I'm sure, he loved in return. I'm glad you shared this with us.
:hugs:

I'm sorry Hulk..thats the exact same thing happened to my beloved cat last year..he was 8..he went suddenly like that too, one minute he was fine and the next he was in excruciating pain..I had to have him put to sleep that same evening. Its pretty awful, you have my deepest sympathies :(

Hey Hulkster, my deepest sympathies. While I'm a bit weird and crazy, I consider myself a religious person. I will pray to the Lord that He may console you. I've been there before my friend. Just hang on in there. Thank you for sharing with us and don't feel bad about that. That's what cyber-friends are for: to share the good and the bad **I hope I haven't ripped a famous song** :)
