LOL, indeed.Between this and the "showoff" bit, I can already hear the clatter of keyboards as hundreds of slash fics are written.
Slash, my favorite. So many great Logan/Remy fics I have read. The X-men films did wonders for Rogue/Wolverine. I cannot imagine all the slash that's going to come from this movie. It's pretty much an all male cast.![]()
Yay, you're my hero!Worked some of my gif magic

Awesome! Man, seeing him in the film was great, but now seeing him on the big screen in May will be even better.Originally Posted by venus_ice![]()

Personally, I'm not much into that. All right, I'm not into it at all. Gambit's known for being a ladies' man, not a boys' man. I feel like changing that is to completely change his persona. I prefer to imagine him with another girl besides Rogue, than to imagine him making out with WolverineSo many great Logan/Remy fics I have read.![]()
So in terms of REAL fictions, what are some of everyone's favorite Gambit arcs in the comics?
Among my favorites:
-Gambit vs. Sabretooth (X-Men 33, 38, Uncanny X-Men 326)

Shame that they keep using the same promo shots and that non of the other characters like Gambit seem to be getting covers of there own.

Two covers and (judging by the lo-res scan) the article includes a new shot of Wolverine fighting Gambit. There's also interviews with Gavin Hood, effects producer Greg Baxter, John Palermo, Danny Huston and Taylor Kitsch.
SO WHO'S THAT GUY PLAYING GAMBIT?
It's actor TAYLOR KITSCH
and here's what you need yo know about him
He screwed up his first audition for Gambit. After shooting NBC's "Friday Night Lights" (his day gig in which he co-stars as "Riggins") until 2 a.m. and then taking a 7 a.m. flight out that next morning, Kitsch was exhausted. But luckily he got another shot. "When I had time to prep," says Kitsch, "and really read in on this cat and truly prepared for him, I had probably the reading of my life"
He got clawed for real during a fight scene with Hugh Jackman, Kitsch says "His claw went almost through my thumb", so we're thinking that probably hurt a little bit. "Oh ****,man" he says, clearly recalling the incident. "A little bit of blood spurted when it hit and then we continued for a minute and then when they cut, I was like 'Holy ****!'"
He read a boatload of comics to get a sense of "just how lonely this guy was and how he's a beat-of-his-own kind of guy. There's this scene of, I can't remember what comic, but he's alone on the rooftop and just kind of lost and Storm comes and tries to talk him down. He's very much a loner and I love that sense of him" But, he adds. "Gambit's raw. He will pick up a pipe and beat the **** out of you. He doesn't care how he beats you down."
Learning Gambit's bow staff was brutal. So does that mean Kitsch hit himself in the head maybe? "Oh, ****, are you kidding me, man?" says Kitsch (we'll take that as a yes) "For the first month I was using, like, a hard plastic, hard-rubber staff because you're going full tilt, right? and that thing will ****ing put you out if it was real. But now I have absolutely no problem grabbing any type"
The card tricks did not come easy "I put myself," says Kitsch, "in my hotel room for hours on end with these cards and then I actually had a magician come in who I'm actually pretty darn close mates with still." Thanks to Kitsch's new pal from Australia, Phoenix Magic, he can now shuffle and cut the deck with one hand, and he says, "I'm not gonna tell you exactly how, but it's just really cool how Gambit actually deals cards."
Personally, I'm not much into that. All right, I'm not into it at all. Gambit's known for being a ladies' man, not a boys' man. I feel like changing that is to completely change his persona. I prefer to imagine him with another girl besides Rogue, than to imagine him making out with WolverineIt's just not him. He's not that cat.
Spotlight
Taylor Kitschs Power Trip
Taylor Kitsch is a powerful guy. Before he got his big break as badboy football player Tim Riggins on TVs Friday Night Lights, the B.C. native (born in Kelowna; grew up just outside Vancouver) worked as a personal trainer while living in New York and trying to become an actor. But he says hes never felt anything like the power that came with his latest character, the mutant Gambit in next months X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
He has kinetic energy, which basically means he can power up these random objects, explains Kitsch over the phone from L.A. where hes about to head into the gym for his morning workout. For him, its usually cards because he gambles a lot. In the trailer you can see him throwing those cards at Wolverine. Whats happened is hes held them long enough where hes emitted this energy into them, and powered them up and theyre basically like explosives.
You can see Gambits other cool toy in this photo. We trained with the bow staff for four months, says Kitsch. That training which would have been torture for most was a blast for the former member of the British Columbia Hockey Leagues Langley Hornets.
But Kitsch doesnt think his physique had much to do with landing the role. I think it was more finding the character of Gambit, the nonchalant coolness of him. Its gotta be within the cat, he says.
With everything hes been through [Gambit was kidnapped as an infant], he has no reason to answer to anybody and I love that part of him. You know, obviously I love the fight, and I love that kind of adrenaline. And I know that, for the most part, I could probably end anyone who I fought with. And you gotta use those kinds of things too, you know? Yup, I think we do.
"Gambit's raw. He will pick up a pipe and beat the **** out of you. He doesn't care how he beats you down."
It's Uncanny 325 and I am scanning the significant pages as we speak. I hope to post them here before I have to run out the door...Best. Interview. Ever.
Seriously, that filled me with fanboy joy. That issue is Uncanny X-men 300 and something, I can't remember the exact issue, but it's after Age of Apocalypse ended and Rogue ran away with Iceman and a head full of Gambit's memories, and he goes after them but she tells him to push off, and Sinister comes along and taunts Remy. So he's sitting on the roof all upset before Storm comes along and holds his hand (and you're reading it and just wishing they'd get together already) before he gets pissed off and lays some serious smackdown on Sabertooth. Brilliant issue, it shows a really dark side of Gambit. I've got it on my bookshelf, totally going home to read it again when work is finished.
What gets me happy is that TK is actually reading the important issues, not just saying that he is. It's not all talk, he really seems to be doing his research. It's such a defining issue for Gambit's character and he's proven to us that he's read it!
Excitement. Too much of it.
As for that art: holy s**t! That's pretty good. Love the eyes, it shows that the red and white could've worked in the film. Would've been better than a brief moment of it, although a brief moment of it is still better than nothing.
Agreed.Personally, I'm not much into that. All right, I'm not into it at all. Gambit's known for being a ladies' man, not a boys' man. I feel like changing that is to completely change his persona. I prefer to imagine him with another girl besides Rogue, than to imagine him making out with WolverineIt's just not him. He's not that cat.
