Hugh Jackman Talks Gambit And Deadpool

I wanted him the moment I saw him half naked in the Covanent. :D

He's great in Friday Night Lights as well. Definitely my favorite character. (Which, btw, is a show you should all be watching! :o)

I love how genuinely excited Hugh Jackman seems to be when talking about not just his movie but the other characters and actors involved.

Wait, when they sdaid, he said did they mean RR or HJ either would be awesome, specially since deadpool isn't an X-men character

he was talking about himself I'm sure, and, since Deadpool is now in a Fox Movie, they have to own the rights to him, too.

And maybe hugh could show up with burns, just dont name him and dont make him pop the claws, just have him sit there smokin a cigar. done. and fox has no rights.

Marvel: Please?
Jackman: Hell yeah!
Fox: NO! :cmad:
:csad:

Let me put this out there... would Marvel let Sam Jackson or even a Captain AMerica poster in the Wolverine movie? That's what I thought... it goes both ways.

A Wolverine cameo in Avengers is a must.

Very nice article, BTW.

Regarding Wolvie making an appearance in the Avengers, it's entirely possible. It depends whether Fox is done with the character. If they aren't and there's a Wolverine or X-Men related movie down the line, they might allow it to generate hype for their own movie.

Alternatively, they can just take Hugh Jackman, put him in a leather jacket, say 'bub', cast him as 'Crazy Canuck' and be done with it. Everyone would know who he's supposed to be yet there's no way Fox can prove that it's their intellectual property.

You know Fox might be making a new X-men movie about the time Avengers gets made..

I could see them allowing the Cameo simply for publicity for their own movie. Call it part of the marketing budget.

Thanks Hunter...That sounds good...Seems like Deadpool has an integral part in the movie.

Nice to hear that Kitsch is giving it his all.

As things stand right now i think it's unlikely for a Wolverine cameo in Avengers.Remember Fox (or Tim Story) wanted to use Nick Fury but Marvel didn't allow it. Same thing happened to marvel when they wanted a Peter Parker cameo in Incredible Hulk. Sony said no that.
You know, I wouldn't be surprised if Fox told him to say that in order to create some buzz. :)
A film he's producing and starring in? Why would he want to create buzz for that?:hehe:

have tony stark at fox studios, for publicity and have him walk by an office have hugh sitting there watching footage we cant see, then have him look at the exec and say. no way i'm too tall and the fans will have a cow, or something like that it'd be funny :)

I can see Fox saying no. They threatend to sue Marvel over that
Mutant X TV show. I would be surprised if the greedy buttheads would let Jackman appear.

What the hell? They wanted to sue a company who they've got their rights to X-Men movies in the first place from?

As I've said time and time again... Fox are the Satan's favourite corporation in our mortal coil. While they have the screening right for the X-men, I don't see what rights they have over television. Depends on who actually bought those rights. If it's the Fox corporation than the law suit was justified. If it was 20th Century Fox the movie studio, than it was not justified because they make X-men movies, not tv-shows. So I don't know. But I bet it was 20th Century Fox because X-men Evolution for instance was produced by Film Roman Productions and distributed by the WB.

Wolverine cameo in Avengers would be awesome. Fox can get some money for letting him have like a 2-minute cameo, just so people know it's all in the same universe. Ditto for Spidey, maybe he can be in the Avengers sequel as a cameo.

No, no, no. Not at all.

The Avengers movie is going to work because they're establishing a primary universe with Iron Man, Hulk, etc. etc.

Any characters from Spidey or X-Men wouldn't even fit, being that they're from self-contained universes. It'd be ridiculously contrived to tell us that Wolvie and the X-Men, and everyone Spidey's fought, have just gone unnoticed by SHIELD and the other powers that be.

On topic...

The vibe I got after watching the trailer was that...

Wolvie's going on the run, and at the very least Sabes is going after him. You folks think they'll send the whole team out after him?

I'm convinced that if they do, Gambit sides with Wolverine.

I got the impression that Wolverine seeks out Gambit, or stumbles upon him. Not many elite special forces units send their agents out dressed like Casino workers.

Thats probably how it goes with deadpool though.

all marvel characters should make a cameo in an avengers film, it's teh LOOAAAR
Spidey & Wolvie, yes. FF, Blade & GR, No.

They might want too, but Fox would probably say no.

Who says it's gone unnoticed, it's called off-screen.

My idea is in the Avengers movie, Fury or Stark run down to Caps the important events (Nukes, Computers, 9-11, etc...) since he was frozen. They mention (if they can) all the heroes: IM, Hulk, Thor, X-Men, Spidey, Blade & (unless they're getting the rights back soon especially for Daredevil) Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider & Daredevil.

I don't know. Gambit pops up just as they're revealing the "team" and his actions could easily be part of some sort of operation Weapon X is pulling.

Lets face it, of the whack-jobs they've got selected for the team, he's the only one that could really pull off any kind of cover.

That doesn't change the fact that none of this has a place in the current Iron Man/Hulk continuity. It's a huge and ridiculous leap of faith to ask from the viewers.

Are we trying to establish that SHIELD and Nick Fury just weren't around when Magneto attacked NYC in X1? Or when the Silver Surfer and Galactuc almost blew up the world? Or when the Sandman was a giant monster beating up buildings?

The whole huge universe thing works on a comic plane, but the movies have tried to be a bit more grounded and semi-realistic with their approach.

They could take the approach that SHIELD was waiting to see how these groups of people have handled these situations. Or they could use the approach that in X1, it was the first they've heard of this group of people using these powers for something good. And with Stark, being one of the first to reveal his identity to the public and with him being a billionaire, it makes sense to start with him and build from there.

I disagree. As seen in Iron Man and Hulk, SHIELD is just now putting together it's Avengers team, so the Avengers wouldn't have been able to help the X-men or Spidey to begin with.

And in the comics SHIELD doesn't pop up for every supervillain occurrence, they really only deal with Nationwide emergencies. Not only that, but in SM1 GG stayed fairly low on the radar most of the time, to SHIELD he wouldn't seem like much more then your average crook with a few special powers. In X1 Magneto's attack stayed pretty much under wraps until they got to Ellis island, and by that time the X-men got to him. Half the stuff in X2 happened off American soil, and all the enemies in SM2 and SM3 were the same as the Goblin, they weren't national threats. The only movie where SHEILD really should have been a presence was X3.

But all that aside, do you think the general audience is really going to look back that far? By the time the Avengers movie comes out, some of the movies we're talking about will be more then ten years old, I really can't see it being a major problem at all.

I do hope they have good screen time and not get screwed over with a 5 second sub plot... :woot:

I'm not worried about them "helping" the other heroes, I'm worried about SHIELD just not being bothered by having super-powered beings jumping around.

And in X-Men there are thousands of mutants across the planet. There's no reference to them in IM or Hulk, so having them suddenly show up again would be contrived and silly.

So, uh, that whole bit at the end of X2 where every living person on the planet (first mutants, then baseline humans) was hit with a whacked out mental attack wouldn't pop up on SHIELD's radar? Or a supervillain's (Magneto) escape from prison?

I know you didn't mention the F4 films, but someone else did... and the Silver Surfer plight fits the role too.

But all that aside, do you think the general audience is really going to look back that far? By the time the Avengers movie comes out, some of the movies we're talking about will be more then ten years old, I really can't see it being a major problem at all.

If anything, the general audience might be even more confused at the inclusion of characters like Spidey and the X-Men. At least the comic fans would know Marvel was just trying to cash in ridiculously...

It wouldn't make a bit of sense. They're really working hard to make this Avengers flick fit, and if they included other characters like that it'd piss away years of effort.
