The Thomas Haden Church/Sandman Thread

:oldrazz:
nvm, I just realized it was wmv. it's too hard to capture screen shots.

Well thanks anyway :woot:

Sandman is really an ambitious character in this movie and well he is one of my all time favorite villains so having him teaming up with the one who ended up killing him in the comics in the climax of the movie is a huge bonus :woot:

That's exactly what you've done on this thread towards my posts man .

No, I did not.

And you were the one insulting me at first

And how exactly did I insult you?? What names did I call you??

Here's my original post to you: http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11521836&postcount=504

Apart from some friendly sarcasm, smileys included to indicate that, where did I insult you??

Sorry kid but it doesn't work that way with me

Nothing works with you. You dodge every attempt at serious conversation by insulting me.

Like those pathetic "kiddie" remarks. I guarantee I'm alot older than you are.

Now you're totally lost of arguments

I seriously doubt that.

Ask the Venom smarks here about the size and body muscle of Topher Grace into the movie .

I have. They don't care about Topher's size. They like the evil Peter Parker image.

Do you REALLY think they would be HAPPY if Venom in the movie would be a nice Black Spider Man who , in the end, agrees to save MJ life AND peter's one too just because Sam Raimi feels so ?

Since Venom has saved Spider-Man, Black Cat, and many other innocents before in the comics from danger. Yeah, I'm sure they could.

It's not out of character for Venom to do the right thing. He had a whole series called Lethal Protector based on that.

Be aware, I was totally ready to enjoy Spidey 2 when I've first seen it and I, for one, absolutely ENJOYED Alfred Molina's acting and look into it .

My main complain (if you've read WELL my very first post ab out it), is the ending of the movie and how , all of a sudden, the mega baddie of the comics and the movie becomes a "good citizen guy"

That's how he was written in the movie. That was his character. He paralleled Peter's conflict, as any good villain does.

Peter was being irresponsible by giving up his responsibility as Spider-Man, so he could live the dream of a problem free life. Octavius was being irresponsible by doing evil things so he could make his dream succeed.

Both Peter and Octavius came full circle at the end when they each learned to do what is right you have to give up what you want the most, even your dreams.

The fact that Octavius showed redemption at the end was out of character with comic book Ock. But not movie Ock. And it didn't matter. He was still a well handled character and a compelling villain.

Ock saving Spidey's life while his whole life of comics he was obsessed with making his life a misery AND killing him ?

For the last time, that is not Ock's obsession. Prove me wrong. List me a few stories where that's Ock's goal. Go on. If you can't, then let it go. Because your constantly saying it without proving it is just stupid and immature. I've backed up my points. Extend me the same courtesy with yours.

Ock's goal is acquisition of power. Not destroying Spider-Man.

And again he was used a second field to Harry Osborn most of the flick, just a side kick or a lackey

Where are you pulling this rubbish from?? I've already established with quotes from the movie, that is not the case. Harry had TWO scenes with Ock. And in both scenes, Ock roughed up Harry and was calling the shots. You didn't see Ock getting shoved around or begging for mercy.

Ock was the driver of it. He went to Harry. He demanded the tritium. He chose the evil tactics to get Spider-Man. Not Harry. Why do you think Harry helped Peter find Ock?? MJ was in danger. Harry knew nothing about that, or anything else that Ock had done.

Ock did his own thing. He didn't answer to anyone, least of all Harry.

He brought back Spidey to Harry but couldn't care more about him at all (unlike the comics)

It's exactly like the comics. Spidey was out of his way. Ock moved on to complete his goal.

That's my grief towards this movie and the adaptation of a comic book character I grew up enjoying a lot .

Could you RESPECT that ?

No. Because your complaints are all based on unfounded nonsense. You keep saying the same things over and over without backing it up properly.

Again don't copy my sentences and try to get innovative instead

Then don't try and make me look immature, when you can't even use proper grammar.

Now, if you choose to respond to this post, try, really try not to just use petty insults for your answers. Please, be civil. Give me proper answers. Try and back up your points.

Otherwise, please don't respond. Lets not put this thread off topic any more than we already have.

very true and combining two of the most powerful villian in the spidey mythos makes for when one hell of an unstopable force.

Not an illusion. That is how Spidey first defeated Sandman in ASM #4. With a vacuum cleaner. What are the odds a reference to a vacuum cleaner will be made in SM-3??

I liked that issue. Hilarious! :yay:

I can't wait to see the battle between Sandman and Symbiote Spider-man. Spidey in full aggression against Sandman is going to be amazing.

And that huge Sandman GIF is crazy.

Classic.

Looking forward to the humor in this film, as well. That bit with Peter getting the sand out of his suit and saying "Where do these guys come from?" is gold.

:wow: :wow: :wow:
Jesus Christ :wow:

It's a good thing Sandman stands down. How in the hell does Spidey stop something like that??
Exactly, and that's why I've been saying for over 3 years, that he would be a great villain for this film. This one gif makes my debating the nay-sayers years ago worth it. :cwink:

This giant Sandman is impressive, note, he also helps to make the film look a lot more epic in scope.

Wow, I just noticed Harry is there, too.

LOL! What's he going to do?? Unless he has a giant hose full of water on that snowboard, he's going to be as helpless as Spidey. Razorbats and pumpkin bombs are useless against Sandman.

No offense meant to Sandman fans, but even though the drama of Sandman being the first villain to really put Peter's identity protection/ mettle to the test and even though I am an owner of a reprinted copy of this story...this particular ending was pretty campy. I'd probably think higher of it if they didn't add the part where Peter literally throws some sand in the air and takes pictures of himself.

But, I digress...this is the age where gamma radiation turned men into green hulking monsters...and Stan's whole approach wasn't without merit. Better than the Vulture and the Tinkerer.

LOL! What's he going to do?? Unless he has a giant hose full of water on that snowboard, he's going to be as helpless as Spidey. Razorbats and pumpkin bombs are useless against Sandman.

O rly? :cwink:

As a side note, the giant version of Flint Marko is what's getting me hyped for his film inception. Even the new grainy shot looks great to me.

Grow up and quit trolling. Ock knows more about his counterpart's comic history than you and he actually contributes to conversations and poses good questions while you go around complaining with what little time you have spent here.

^
Bombs can blow him up which take alot of effort for Sandman to put himself back together, plus Harry can also wear him out by moving all over the place when Sandman is trying to get him.

He's on a construction site. There's no shortage of sand for him. He's the size of King Kong. A few pumpkin bombs and razor bars are a drop in the ocean to a villain that size, who's only weakness is water.

That's what I thought. There's nothing physically threatening that Harry's arsenal could do to Sandman.
