So question for you all about the different versions coming out. In most cases, all pre-order / DLC becomes available eventually. So with these versions with extra skins & characters, you think it's safe to assume all gamers will have access to those by some point? I don't love it, but I don't usually mind buying a season pass a few weeks after buying a game...but I don't think I can make myself by a $100 game at launch. The main reason I'm curious at the moment is that I just now bought Mortal Kombat XL, and found out that even though there's a slot for Gold Scorpion in the game itself in the character viewer (making me think it was unlockable or something,) there's no possible way to get it in my game because it was some kind of exclusive. (Sometimes I really hate this era of gaming.)

in most cases, the pre-order DLC will be available to all at some point in the future.

The 9 DLC characters should definitely be available - because that's pretty much the Season Pass ( or multiple passes ).

Darkseid should be available on his own at some point.

I would also assume the "skins" like Powergirl and Reverse Flash would also be available on their own or maybe as part of the season pass.

however, there have been a few instances in other games where not all pre-order DLC gets made available to everyone. so, you never know. but there doesn't seem to be any specific retailer DLC with this game.

^ Yeah, what you said is what I'm hoping for, which is why I'll most likely be going with the standard edition. I know I have like 99% of the Mortal Kombat content, but it still kind of irks me that I waited & ended up missing out on some stuff.

^ well, I just preordered the Standard Edition. For one, cuz it has Superman on the cover....lol. I would have gone with the Deluxe Edition for the Supergirl cover if it had been a physical edition not just a digital version ( boo! ).

I'll wait till I get a better idea of who the 9 DLC characters are and what's included in the Season Pass(es) before I spend money on that.

Yeah, it's just a big waiting game for me now as well & hoping for the best. And I too wish the Supergirl cover was for the physical copy. I might print it out & put it the box for the standard copy. That's actually what I did for the print copy of Smallville #1 when it came out. The Gary Frank cover was uncharacteristically bad, so I printed out the Cat Staggs version for when I bagged & boarded it.

I just think it's so odd that they would go through the trouble and effort and resources of creating the Supergirl cover ( which is nice ) when people aren't really going to see it since it's for a digital version.

That's why I went with the standard as well. There's far too many trash characters in DC that could show up in this game for me to buy before I know who they are and I highly doubt they'll release 9 solid characters for the DLC.

Maybe not likely but there's always the chance that the physical copy could have a reversible cover

Isn't it just a gameplay trailer for some of the characters the story trailer revealed? Most likely Robin and Brainiac or Bane and Posion Ivy... I guess we'll just have to wait and see

Batman, Robin, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Bane, Poison Ivy, Mr Freeze, Scarecrow... That's a ton of Batman characters (almost 1/3 of the launch roster)!! Seriously hoping Freeze is just a skin for Captain Cold and Scarecrow isn't in the game (seriously?). Outside of those two, I'm cool with the other choices.

yeah. I'm not a fan of all those Bat characters. For one, especially if it comes at the expense of other characters like Raven or Starfire.

and two, there's only one Bat hero out of that group ( Batman ). The rest are all villains or quasi villains ( Harley and Catwoman I guess ).

Why not have Cassandra Cain Batgirl or Red Hood ( quasi hero? ). Or include someone like Azrael.

I don't think NRS looks at it like that, Bat characters or Superman characters or what have you. They just go with what they think will be interesting and popular characters. Save for a handfull, all the characters in the last game were fairly popular, with only a few "B List" fighters. It'll probably be the same here. At the end of the day, they need to make a fighter thats going to last and the comic geeks aren't the fans that'll keep a fighter going. They'll play the game for a week then trade it in. Its the real fighter fans who will keep this title alive for years so the most important thing for NRS to do is to build a great roster catering to them.
