Given Tobey's answers to questions about stunts in the Comic Con exclusive interviews, it doesn't appear he is doing as many as he did on past films. He laughs and says (paraphrased) " any actor who says he does all of his own stunts is lying, unless they're jumping over a gate or something." When asked specifically about SM3, he replied that he did the things that were safe for him to do. Who knows what that means?

For Spider-man 1, Tobey attempted the majority of the stunts and I think he tried a fair amount of them for Spider-man 2, and then left it to Sam to pick the one that looked the best (between stuntman's and Tobey's). Tobey's were better in a couple of takes believe it or not (this is discussed on SM2 Director's commentary). Of course with Peter's face visible so much in SM2 they would want Tobey in the scenes to the extent possible.

I would think that for the most part IF the mask stays on in SM3, there would be a higher likelihood that a stuntman would be used. In that event, how could you tell really who's behind the mask anyway since the voice is looped whether Tobey's in the suit or not. I would think they would want to make use of the most acrobatic, graceful person for a difficult Spidey maneuver. Generally that wouldn't come from Maguire but rather from a skilled and trained stuntman. And for me, I'm all for that. I'd rather Spidey look as flexible and acrobatic as he can, rather than Tobey getting kudos for attempting a stunt that could have looked better done by someone who has spent their life training for such a moment.

Thank God, he's not Jackie Chan. Spider-Man should only be handled by professional stuntmen...not actors wanting to become a stuntman to look cool on the DVD.

Well damn. I just thought it was neat that he attempted and did some in the first two films.. he is credited as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man he needs to BE Spider-Man. I just think its funny it seems as though he doesn't even do the scnes where he's talking to like Topher or something. As long as you cant see his face it's like he doesn't even want to BE Spider-Man.

Tobey Maguire isn't a freakin' stuntman, he's an actor, I'm surprised the studio allows him to do what little he did. Why would you want Tobey to do Spider-Man's stunts, when there are professional stuntmen who can do the stunts 20 times better, making the scene look better? It's a movie people, Tobey doesn't take form of all of Spider-Man's powers, because he's playing the character.

This is another reason why Sam Raimi keeps making Spider-Man take off his mask, so people can see Tobey doing crap in the Spidey suit. The more he's apart of the stunts, the more he'll be taking off his freakin' mask as Spider-Man. Which needs to stop.

tobey has starred in two black and white movies so far, pleasantville and the good german, pleasant ville he was incredible in, black or white, he performances are still great, no matter what, im sure he will be fantastic in the good german also.
