Oh I know. But He became most known when He starred in Spider-man. It was a big leap for His career. I have seen Tobeys Films such as Seabiscuit, Cider House rule, Pleasantville, and The Good German. He did an amazing job in all those Films. I really liked in Seabiscuit how Tobeys Character was blind out of one eye or on the side of his eye. Tobey did a great job in The Good German at being mean. He beat the crap out of George Clooney! which I thought was great. But Spider-man is My favorite and that will remain my favoriteIf we're talking performances, I'd say Red Pollard in Seabiscuit, his character in Ride with the Devil or Cider House Rules as his best performance.
But he gave a great Peter Parker (IMO) and gave a very sympathetic and popular performance in the Spidey movies (more the first two). His Spider-Man stands above all other superhero perofrmances in memorability other than Chris Reeve. I think Bale may be a better Bats in adaptation, but people remember Maguire's Spidey very well and is a credit to his acting to give such a broad yet nuanced performance.
But just because it is his most famous performance does not make it his best. He was already an indie star thanks to starring in Cider House Rules, Pleasentville and co-starring in Wonder Boys. Not to mention critical darlings The Ice Storm and the aforementioned Ride with the Devil. He was not a no-name when he was cast as Spider-Man, though.
All of them...
I celebrated by taking my family to see SM3 on IMAX. It was my 8th and likely final viewing of SM3 in theaters (may yet sneak a dollar movie view in). Not too many years do I get to celebrate Tobey's birthday by drowning in his 10 foot wide sparkling blue eyes on a ginormously huge screen. Awesomeness!

t:He may be 32, but he sure doesn't look it.
t:Yeah, not that many people know of RWTD. Like I said, I think RWTD is TMags' best film. It was like his first lead role where he wasn't such a nerdy geek....although, I felt like punching him when he acted all awkward when Jewel's character wanted to sleep with him.
I wouldn't call his character in Cider House Rules a nerdy geek.
BTW if you've seen 'em all, what'd you think of Don's Plum? He was supporting and did the nic/kinda real creepy guy in that pretty well. It wasn't very good and reeked of student film, but even if it was a dialogue about youth in the 'mid '90s it applies to all generations. We all knew kids like that and I thought DiCaprio playing the tortured ultimate prick/a@$hole was damn impressive for that age.
Worth checking out just to see them and Kevin Connolly before they were famous and still learning their craft.
Agreed. Tobey is the best Peter Parker/Spider-man IMOmaguire owns as peter parker

He's The Best SPIDER-MAN![]()
Awesome!. It's so perfect!
'Tis not really fair. I do think Barnes voice is better suited for Spidey and I still hear it most times i read the comics. But I think Maguire is a better actor and portrays the conflict in Peter Parker better (but not the wisecracking hero).
Oh well.
