The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

Gotta go with you on Bell's dad, Tony. I kept telling my girlfriend, every time the Jacob/Edward discussion came up, that I'm a team Charlie kinda guy. I think it's sad that he's the best written and most well-acted character in the movies.

This is probably old news already but is it true that they are possibly splitting the final book into two movies like they did with Harry Potter??

If so, that means instead of one more year of this garbage we have two??

Breaking Dawn will be split into separate films. It was announced months ago.

So when are the release dates? I hope this doesn't conflict with the 2011/2012 slate. I am thinking November 2011 and Summer 2012? Looks like Spidey may have even more comp...

The first part is confirmed for November 18, 2011. The second one's hasn't been announced yet, but it's assumed to be Summer 2012

I think more or less the same, imagine: "The Twilight Saga: Charlie's Quest" with a poster of him with a shotgun on one hand and a vampire head in the other...

I would pay to see that. That could have a real "Army of Darkness" type feel to it. Seeing Charlie throw back a six pack of Rainiers and blowing Vampires heads off.

Went with the family to a small resort town this past weekend and the mother and sister and father love these movies so my brother and myself got dragged. The theatre on has 3 films showing at one time...only 3:dry: I had already seen Toy Story 3 twice and was not about to see Air Bender with less than a 10% on RT. I hate Twilight but I am not going to watch even worse crap...a lesser of two evils is how I saw it.

Anyways, I had seen the first one on HBO and the second the other day on dvd. Those two films, especially the second, are terrible movies. The second movie is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

This movie was a lot better than those two. There was more action, which I liked, but the story and the acting were pretty much terrible. Edward and Bella will go down as two of the worst and most useless characters in cinema history. Edward does absolutely NOTHING. All he does is watch. Bella is also pretty damn useless and the only reason she exists is to cause the plot to start. She is the only reason why anything happens and not good things, bad things. If Bella and Edward killed themselves Romeo and Juliet style or just friggin moved to Canada then everyone would be better off. I literally want to punch both of them. Bella needs to get a job as well and if I was her father, I would have kicked her lazy butt out months ago.

Jacob is alright but the actor who plays him, Lautner, is a terrible actor...I mean terrible. The only people I slightly cared about in the least was Jasper, Alice, and a couple of other vamps I can't remember the names of. I really like Anna Kendrick but she had like 2 short scenes??? You have an Oscar nominated star in your movie, don't give her two throwaway lines in the cafeteria and at the house party.

A few wtf!? Who thought it was a good idea to make vampire de-limbing be like breaking a stone statue? I understand it was done to keep the movie fine for the kiddies but wtf!? If their body is made of stone, how the fack do they move? Also, how do the werewolves always have pants and shirts (for the girl werewolf) on when the transform back? Why did Edward go to Florida? Did he wear a facking Burka? He sat inside the house and stared out the window at Bella and her mother? Really?

Overall, it was just alright 6.5/10

Well the only thing you can say about Lautner is his previous acting experience was headlining as Sharkboy in Shark boy and Lava girl in 3D (The kind with the red and blue cellophane glasses)

I agree, I did not get the Vampires breaking like stone. That should get an MTV award for WTF moment, and not in a good way. The only thing I can think is it was a way to make the movies fairly blood-less. What I didn't get though was they didn't do that effect in any of the other movies, so why now? Maybe someone who has read the books could elaborate if that's from the books at all.

You're right that Bella and Edward will go down as worst characters ever. Everytime I think about them it just pisses me off. I will never understand why these movies/books are so liked. Steven King hit the nail on the head. Stephanie Meyer writes like crap.

One more thing. How much did they pay Bryce Dallas Howard to be in this movie? Is she that hard up for roles? Why didn't they bring back the other actress? Seems like a waste of Howards talents since the character maybe has less than 5 minutes of screen time in the whole films, and at least half of it, is her running through the forrest.

My girlfriend dragged me to it the other day, and as much a sI hated it, I'm not gonna drag up the points everyone has complained about already. Only one thing got to me more:

The whole plot got started by ****ing Bella.
I mean Victoria used this guy to start a militia (hardly an army) of vampires to take out Bella so Edward would feel her pain. Then the Cullens train to fight the new vampires, but the werewolves voluntarily decide to help to save Bella. Yes, the vamp army may have caused even more damage to the town had they been allowed, but nothing has given them a real reason, short of actually being allowed to kill vampires. So while yes, this army also wants the Cullens dead for their involvment, it's really all about protecting Bella. And of course Bella does nothing useful while everyone worries about her, puts their life on the line for her, and basically bows down her. All the while Charlie, her Dad and the only damned good character in this series, sits at home, worries where she is, tries to be a generally good guy and dad, and Bella just keeps ****ting all over him.

Just a few things on this film:

Positive

Slightly better than New Moon I feel, simply because the character motivations are explained a bit better. I think we can all relate to the character of Jacob (discounting the body of course :cwink:) in the sense that I think a lot of guys have been in his situation. You feel someone is pissing their life away, letting someone literally suck of the life out of them. But the girl can't get enough.

Ditto in regards to Edward. When he's talking about how he used to court women I began to realise why this Vampire has such a huge fanbase. I mean, in a world where so many guys are portrayed as being portrayed as only being after one thing, here's a guy who loves his girl, sex isn't even an issue. He fights her every step of the way about becoming a Vampire (even though he could finally have his way with her) because he doesn't want her to throw her life away. He admits to Jacob that he would be better for Bella. So you see, the guy is totally selfless. That's why the women dig him. Not to mention the image of course. :o

Negative

I still think the plot is weak as hell, it's just the same crap, over and over again.

The threats, after being built up as serious threats, get their asses handed to them in the end. So there's no tension, drama or suspense.

In my humble opinion you can tell David Slade was itching to throw some real violence in but what we got instead was what I like to call neutured violence. Sure there are a few decapitations, but it was literally like decapitating a mannequin: no blood, no gore, no scare. It just came off as awfully lame.

For me, New Moon was a 1/5. This was a 2/5. And apparently, Breaking Dawn is like the worst book in the series, so I can't see this trend of the films slowly improving continuing. :oldrazz:

Random question
but does any one else buy the figures by neca ?

This is coming out on blu-ray soon so I will check it out, just to see how things in the series are going. I'm not a big fan though. I thought the first one was pretty decent in fact, but the second was very very boring.

But with the first film I had the craziest experience. I was adament about not seeing it but one of my friends had seen it and wanted to see it again so I went with her. This was two months after it had first released and the theater was f'n packed. Never seen anything like that before in my life where after two months the film is still drawing in droves(tons of twilight fangirls). Only Avatar since then has had packed theaters months after its release.

Does the single-disc DVD have the commentaries? I might get it if it does.

Okay, I've finally seen this movie. And all I have to say is this. The real villain in this movie wasn't the newborn army. It wasn't the Volturi. It wasn't even Victoria. It was Bella Swan.

As much hate as these movies get I will say they aren't the worse movies I've seen. Ya,they are chick flicks and thats the point of these movies not to opease the blood-thirsty,typical vampire movies...Some ppl just can't get past this for some reason.
To me the flaw of these movies isnt the plot its some of the acting;Bella and Jacob are byfar the worse characters. Charlie,Edward are among the best of the main characters imo.
Eclipse I did enjoy the flashbacks of the Cullins past, though I was hopin they would give backrounds of Alice, and the rest that didn't get mentioned in this movie.
Far as this Team Jacob or Team Edward,I'm more of a Team Victoria person myself :hrt: oky the first Victoria not the one in Eclipse.....

So I saw finally saw "Eclipse". Not a great movie but not a terrible movie because it's made for a guy like me (in the long run).

I do laugh at how they tried really, really hard to make it more epic than it actually is.

Lol at the sex scene with the room falling down around them, reminds me of something out of the Naked Gun.

Start of the trailer is woeful as well....you'd swear that they were working off the same budget that they had for the first one.

exactly

Saw this for the first time a couple weeks ago, and for me the worst part was one of the opening scenes. Bella and Edward are in a field and Bella wants Edward to turn her but he says he won't unless they get married. She rebuts this by saying that "2/3 of marriages end in divorce anyway".

.......Bella, you just said there's a two out of three chance that the person you think you want to spend your life with isn't the right person, thus making marriage a mistake. Yet you want your boyfriend to turn you into an undead monster (a much bigger commitment than marriage) just so you can be together forever. Your argument is invalid!

I clicked on this thread out of curiosity as to why it was brought back and saw this old post....and I have to agree. While I've only seen the first two Twilights, in an attempt to make her Dad seem like a square, silent-type who can't communicate with his daughter, either the actor (who is better than at least two of the three principles) or the directors have made him the most likable character. He seems quiet and aloof because whenever he reaches out to his daughter, she treats him like ****.

The only scene I recall really getting a laugh out of in those two movies is when Edward, ever the sullen-Prince Charming, comes to ask to court Bella. He cleans his gun and says, "All right send him in" with a click. It was a self-aware humorous moment in a film series that takes itself way too seriously. Levity is something sorely lacking in these somber chick lit films. Otherwise he just shakes her when she has nightmares and gets **** on when he points that out later because she and Edward soulmates, blah blah blah.

Actually, whoever plays the brunette vampire is also very funny and has a personality (unlike the rest of the Cullen gang). And Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning were quite good in the background as evil vampires. Now that I think about it, the movies do have some good ideas at the margins with the bit players. But the stars (though I think Stewart has been actually quite good in other films) and the writing at the core of the story is just so awful, in my opinion.
