I never said that this franchise was some huge important thing.
I never said you did, what I said was that you obviously thought that there was something important about a frachise having some pop cultural cache beyond being a fad. eg, It has some artistic merit and means something to people beyond some kind of superficial attachment.
Otherwise, why would you come into the thread arguing against folk saying it could very well be just a fad?
there was a very good point made about the fast turnover of the movie, so's to strike while the iron is hot.
So, it was pretty obvious you had your opinion changed, and instead of capitualting to that, you just dismissed the discussion as silly, and the dissenters as sexist.
Because it wasn't the posters who had typed up stuff that could be construed as being sexist who changed your opinion, as far as I could see.
Why lump them in with the others as sexist?
I just didn't like seeing a lot of male posters being dismissed as being sexist in one fell swoop, because, of course, that itself is sexist.
There were folk debating with you who were merely commentating on cutural phenomena, that doesn't mean they thought this franchise was frivolous because it had a majority female fandom.
anyway...I thought that was worth saying, I'm sure Andrea Dworkin would have had my back on that one.
