The Twitter Thread

It allows you to think people actually give a crap what you are doing at any time during the day. I think the goal is convince people the their $#!+ does not in fact stink.

Hence why it's perfect for celebrities.

So, I still don't know what it adds to the internet that we don't already have.

I'm so sick & tired of hearing of this damn Twitter thing and hearing seemingly every news or entertainment show urging their viewers to send them a "tweet." No. I will not tweet you, and for the rest of those people out there, I don't care what you're doing at the moment. I don't care if you're ironing a shirt or eating pancakes. I don't care if you're stuck in traffic. I don't care what you thought about the latest episode of House. If you want to sign up for one of these social networking sites, GREAT - there's plenty you can accomplish on MySpace or Facebook, but if you're going to sign up for a site where all you can do is update people on what you're doing or feeling in 100-something characters or less, well, there's a better outlet for that: texting.
I endorse this statement.

I had signed up for MySpace, but never used it. Now I'm on Facebook because I discovered many of my rl friends are on it, so that makes it worthwhile just so I can get in touch with them (one of them is living in Asia). As for Twitter, I don't think it's all that great just because some celebrities are boasting that they are using it. Most likely they hired someone to twitter for them, anyway.

I think this whole Twitter thing is stupid. I just don't get it.

i made one just for the hell of it

OK. I actually just got a really good response about what it's good for. I was told because of it's simplicity, it's easy to use from a cell in case you wanna send a mass invitation, etc. away from home, which might be the reason for it's boost in popularity. That I understand.

I keep hearing about this thing too, I have yet to research or look into it :funny:

The only thing I'm waiting for is to read someone's status on Facebook say

"So & so is *********ing via Twittttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt"

That'd be real social networking gold.

I'm much more suited to Twitter than Facebook. I don't care what people are doing; I just want to hear their thoughts.

Being bored enough to actually give a rat's ass about what other people say? I guess.

There is no point to Twitter. It's absolutely pointless. Just as most 'societies' on the internet.

It's just a site where you post your going ons or random comments. It's silly, but reading other people's comments can be fun. I, myself, have nothing with Facebook. I do have Myspace, but don't do anything with it. So yeah, Twitter would be the obvious choice for me. I occasionally post something and hopefully some people read it. If not, so be bit.

I just text and email. No myspace, no facebook, no twitter. I don't need a whole webpage to keep up with and updating what I did today.

I see Twitter as kind of an ADD blog system. I don't have the time to read your 7 paragraph blog about your day, but I do have the time to read the highlights of your day through 5 or 6 single sentence posts.

And every now and then, some celebrity posts something useful on Twitter. Like when Warren Ellis told us Planetary fans that Cassaday finally drew the final issue, or when Shaq tells people exactly where he is if you want to hunt him down and get free tickets.

I've come to understand it's purpose, but what is "awesome" about Twitter?
There's people who abuse Twitter by posting bits and pieces of trivial nonsense, such as what they're eating, what they're doing, or what colour their bowel movements were today (the majority).

Then there's people like me who strive to say creative things in 140 characters or less. Little things that will make you smile or think. It's kinda like what I do with my Facebook status updates, only this way I don't have to flood my own profile with my own status updates.

It's far less voyeuristic than Facebook, as you don't get to see who your friends are friends with, their pictures from the previous weekend, if they're single, etc., but it is more exhibitionist if you choose to use it that way.

EDIT: Plus, check out http://***********/drtobiasfunke and tell me that's not gold.

I don't get it either because you can now basically do the same thing with facebook. People post little messages about themselves now and everyone responds to them
