The things you miss thread.

@Flash525
When you gotta lose 40 lbs, everything has to be given up...
Dust, cardboard and water are my only friends now! :thud:

I was a vegetarian for over 20 years until I met my Jewish, ham and bacon eating wife. LOL. If there's food around, I just eat it. I could easily go vegetarian again. Living in California there is an abundance and wide array of inexpensive, high quality vegetables. If it's a health/weight thing, fish and low fat meats are available to you.

@RetrogradeOrbit do you mind me asking what your weight is/was, and what your target goal it?
I’ve been too ashamed to weigh myself with eyes open! But judging by how I looked when I started, I estimate between 175-180 lbs. My target weight is 135-140 lbs. When you take into account I am 5’ 5”, I can’t hide 180 lbs... :(
My other half has been noting my weekly weigh-ins and telling me only what my loss has been.

Oh, I've been there! Oh, wait... that's a fallacy, I still am. :hehe:

Still taller than me... but there's nothing wrong with having meat in your bones!!!

There's nothing colder than an other half that doesn't know how to appreciate "more of us".

Oh no, not at all... She’s happy with me as I was and am. It’s me pushing myself to get back to what I used to be. And me that does not want to know my weight (at the moment anyway), just the loss...

Last time I weighed myself (December 2020) I was 172lbs. I am 5ft 11, but I consider myself at a healthy weight, despite having a little middle baggage.

9.5stone (135lbs) seems a bit light...

@Flash525
Given my advanced old age...! It’s unlikely I’ll manage to get below 140, as long as I don’t wobble when I walk, I’ll be satisfied with that. :yay:

@RetrogradeOrbit old age? Heh. I'm 33 and sometimes I think I'm old and then I remember that most of my hair is still brown. :p

I have a love/hate relationship with food. I love eating it but my body hates it when I do, cause it's gotta' work that much more to burn it off.

I don't think anyone really needs to cut out anything - not unless one has allergies and such. Granted eating several cakes on a daily basis isn't good for you, nor is eating a triple bacon cheeseburger everyday.

However, in moderation, surely everything is viable? Just gotta' manage portion sizes.

My cat’s been in and out of the vets and I can only go running in the morning before work. Plus the appointments have often been very early when I would usually be sleeping so my sleep schedule has also been off, meaning I haven’t felt like running on weekends either. Hopefully will be able to start again ASAP although still have a few appointments left.

I’ve never worried about weight. Never had that feeling of being happy at losing a pound lol. I prefer having a solid build so I’m more interested in cutting what I do have and don’t mind if that means more weight. I only do cardio for health reasons and the rewarding feeling I get from it. In terms of getting in shape aesthetically diet and weight training have always been the key for me.

I haven't made a stir fry vege dish for awhile. I love spicy Chinese style food and have a sauce recipe that uses soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, some ground ginger, garlic, chili paste, a sweetener (if you are so inclined....I'm not), Szechuan peppercorns, and cornstarch (if you want a thickener). You can also use a little fennel, anise, etc. but I wouldn't use a lot. Experiment with various portions of ingredients. It's fun to taste them as you are making the sauce. There are also bottled sauces you can use as a base. I always keep around rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, chili paste (with garlic), and sriracha sauce.

I chop up broccoli, mushrooms, onion, snow peas, bell peppers and basically any vege you like. If you want to throw in some shrimp, chicken, beef or whatever, that's fine too.

I guess I should post the full recipe in the Kitchen thread.

I think you're just messing the kitchen...

Oh nice. How is your comeback going? Any twinges or setbacks since we last caught up?

So far it's been okay. I've done a 10k, though I'm backing into the 5milers for a while - I'm very much aware that my injury is still in the healing process and so I don't want to get ahead of myself.

Some new insoles arrived today too, specifically for running so I'll try them out Friday with some new trainers (I have three brand new pairs to choose from). :confused:

That’s great progress. That’s plenty anyway, no need to go crazy. I didn’t expect you would already be at this point so it’s great going. Fe I meant to post all this in the fitness thread but it works here too. :D
