Rumor has it the Big East is talking with Villanova to see if their football team is ready to step up. Haha a powerhouse. They have to rename the conference right? Teams from all over the country. Any ideas for a new name?

Yeah, how bout Conference USA.

Well the Mountain West and Conference USA are joining together so they will most likely change their name. So the name Conference USA could be available.

I figured this was coming. He lied to university, and to the police...you can't really get around that.

Figure one of the assistants will coach this upcoming season as an interm coach.

And he was banging a 25-year-old female employee who is engaged to be married in June with a wife and 4 kids at home. Although this probably isn't the reason for his dismissal, I don't see how he will ever be able to look in those student-athletes' eyes and tell them to act morally and responsibly.

Yeah, I feel bad for them.. they're the ones who are really hurt by this.

From Yahoo..Petrino officially out. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/bobby-...-ncaaf.html;_ylt=AtNBR.V5CIvaVTWM58R.rxY5nYcB

''He made the decision, a conscious decision, to mislead the public on Tuesday, and in doing so negatively and adversely affected the reputation of the University of Arkansas and our football program,'' Long said, choking up as he discussed telling players that their coach was gone. ''In short, coach Petrino engaged in a pattern of misleading and manipulative behavior designed to deceive me and members of the athletic staff, both before and after the motorcycle accident.''

A clause gave Long the right to suspend or fire the coach for conduct that ''negatively or adversely affects the reputation of the (university's) athletics programs in any way.''

Long said Petrino was fired ''with cause'' - meaning he will not receive the $18 million buyout detailed in the contract - and there were no discussions about ways to keep Petrino at Arkansas.

Scandal another ugly exit for Petrino

After reading this column, it is clear that Petrino didn't just made one mistake; his whole career is full of them. Unfortunately, some universary or NFL team is going to roll the dice again with this guy, due to his winning record in Arkansas, so expect another story similar to this to show up in a few more years.

I was reading the Razorback forum on Scout..and thought I was on an NFL board for a moment. Some of their people are throwing out coach names like Jon Gruden and Bill Cowher. lol

I'd say about 95% of the users I've seen are disappointed, but still reasonable. However one loon wrote "Let's go get Pete Carroll or Jim Tressel!" A reasonable fan wrote "We just fired a liar, and you want to bring in another one?"

We all know who their next coach will be. And somewhere in the Arizona desert, Todd Graham is furiously typing out another resignation text.

Big 12/ SEC making some moves. FSU and Clemson to the Big 12? Notre Dame? Interesting stuff going on.

Ugh. I thought we were done with the conference jumping crap.

They'll keep bringing it up because now, the prospect of jumping to another conference is seen as a legit threat. So, schools will use it as bargaining chips and threats to get what they want from their current conference, more revenue, TV deals, etc.

I heard FSU name being mention to Big12....more them exploring, than Big12 inviting. But I heard nothing about Clemson or ND? That's interesting, because last year, there was talk about FSU & Clemson interested in the SEC. Which is a better fit and natural state rivals.

According to some "sources" on Rivals, FSU and Clemson have both told the ACC they will explore other conferences. Also the "sources" say ND will join the Big 12 in all sports besides football until their TV contract ends in 2015. Then the Big 12 could add Louisville or some other randome team from the Big East or ACC.

I know the Big12 was also talking about Colorado State last year, to move back into that market, since Colorado left for the PAC12

I haven't heard anything about Colorado State? From what I have read, it seems the Big 12 wants to go East. Virginia Tech and Miami have also made contact with the Big 12, according to some "sources" today.
