.'ULTIMATE DC UNIVERSE' RPG Application.
Screenname: Byrd Man
Character You Would Like To Play: Oliver Queen
Basic History Of The Character: Born to a middle class family in Star City, Oliver Queen took an interest in the sport of archery. By the time he was 20, young Ollie Queen was one of the best archers in the world, even winning the gold medal in the 1988 Olympics. A year after the Olympic Games, a scandal broke out concerning a judge being paid off. Ollie was stripped of his gold medal and was banned from the games for life. Fast forward to today: Ollie still lives in Star, working in the sporting goods section of his local Wal-Mart. A widower, Ollie has to support his children, 19 year old college student Roy, 17 year old Connor, and 13 year old Mia. As Ollie's 40th birthday approaches, he spends more and more time thinking of what went wrong in his life, and how his gift was squandered.
Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:
1. I'm a huge GA fan
2. I want to put my own spin on GA
3. Boxing glove arrow, anyone?
What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you 'utlimizing' him or her?): This version of Ollie will be very diffrent. He's no longer a rich playboy, but instead he's a blue collar slob who's tired of seeing the evil get their way while the poor suffer. I also am going to cut out the womanizing, this Ollie will actually be scared of getting back into the dating world.
Two Complete Sentences In Proper English Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): I can bring an okay RPer who's been in this RPG since season 1. Plus, I'm a big GA and Ollie Queen fan.
What Fonts Do You Plan To Use For Your Characters Speech? (Makes the roster look better): Georgia and green
Please Provide A Small Sample Post In The Format You Wish To Portray Your Character In:
Star City
"Ollie to Sporting Goods, Ollie to Sporting Goods."
I pick a piece of lent off my blue vest as I walk down the aisles towards the counter. A man is standing there tapping his fingers against the glass case.
"Can I help you, sir?"
The man nods as I walk behind the counter.
"Yeah, I wanna buy a shotgun."
"You know there's a three day waiting period?"
"Shoot. Not in Texas."
"Well, this is California. Can I ask what you'll be needing it for?"
"I'm going to Arizona in two days. I'm going deer hunting."
My eyes light up, the small spark that's almost dormant ignites again.
"Could I interest you in purchasing a compound bow?"
"A bow and arrow? I'm killing serious game, not some little rabbit."
"With all due respect, sir. In the right hands, a bow and arrow is just as deadly, if not more, than any gun. Let me show you..."
I start to reach for the compound bow I keep under the counter when I hear it.
"QUEEN!"
My hands stop, my eyes dart up to see my boss standing down the aisle.
"How many times do I have to tell you to stop trying to sell people those pieces of crap?"
"But sir, we sell them here..."
"I don't care. Just because you're a washed up loser who had fifteen mintues of fame, doesn't mean you know what people want. Now help him with his purchase!"
He stalks off, the man I was helping stares at me for a few seconds before it clicks.
"Wait. You're Ollie Queen! Man, you were something back in the day."
I quietly sigh as I prop my elbow up on the counter.
"Yeah..."
"So...did you ever..."
"No. I was innocent, despite what everyone else says. I know I didn't pay him off, I earned that medal fair and square."
"...I tell ya what, I think I might go to that Cabela's Outdoor shop down the road to get my shotgun, they might have a better selection."
"Yeah, sure."
"Nice to meet ya...man you were something."
He stalks off, I lay my head on the counter and sigh as his words ring in my ear.
Man you were something....
You were something....
Were something....
Were....
That's all I am, a has been. I never thought that I would be here twenty years from the Olympics, but here I am. Busting ass at Wal-Mart. I have to remind myself I'm doing it for the kids, I have to support them. I think about Roy, Connor, and Mia...and suddenly, I don't feel so bad.
"Ollie to the manager's office, Ollie to the manager's office."
Well, that good feeling lasted all of two seconds.
Do You Know How To Post Pictures On The Hype?: Yep. MB can use that pic I gave him for the roster.
