The Ultimate Jossverse Thread

well I'm not sure how things work now, with hundreds of Slayers running around, but I would assume so. Although in season 7 Buffy seemed to indicate she still held the line, and Giles never corrected her...

That was just a continuity mistake, but since it was an unique occurrence, it's not entirely unbelievable Giles and Buffy could've been wrong there. As for Faith, I do believe that those Watcher guys from the first season of Angel intended to kill her if they couldn't reform her.

So the line would only advance if Faith died?
Yes. Prior to the series finale, Faith was the active slayer.

Speaking of which, I really wish Eliza had signed off for the Faith spinoff instead of doing Tru Callings, which I did like, but it didnt do too well

Excellent, I was hoping for something like this. Great news.

LOVE the Jossverse! I own the first 6 seasons of Buffy and all 5 seasons of Angel. Both were the 2 best shows are TV during their run and are still better than half the shows today. If I could rank and some up both shows, it would go like this:

Buffy Review
1. Season 3-Definately the best! It had the perfect balance of drama, horror and humor. The Buffy-Faith-Angel dynamic was excellent. So many classics and unforgettable moments to name!

2. Season 2-One of the show's darkest and saddest seasons. The whole Angel turning evil plot is classic! Angelus was fantastic as well as Spike and Drusilla who made their debut here. Who could forget the heartbreaking 2-parter?

3. Season 5-The saddest season besides Season 2. The plot with Glory and Dawn is the most imaginative and original story arc the writers ever created. The family theme was so touching; also so many powerful stand alone episodes...The Body left me speechless!

4. Season 4-Harshly underrated! It had some of the best stand alone episodes of the series like Hush, Restless, and Fear Itself etc. The Initiative and Adam plot was always watchable for me, but even if you don't like it, you can't deny the brilliance of some episodes.

5. Season 7-Has some shaky parts, but the overall arc is a dark and fearsome one! Some truly great episodes here with the First and Caleb wrecking havoc!

6. Season 1-A little overrated in my opinion. While the witty dialogue is there, the monster of the week episodes were too basic and plain. There are some good episodes but the short run of episodes doesn't help.

7. Season 6-While has some truly amazing episodes, this season's storyline went all over the place, Spike and Buffy's sexcapades got tiresome, Anya and Xander spilt up for the wrong reasons, Tara died, and don't get me started on Doublemeat Palace and Gone!

Angel Review
1. Season 4-It's the darkest and most epic season of the series. There are no useless fillers but just one long arc that got better with each episode the whole season! I loved the episodes with the Beast, Angelus, Faith and Jasmine was an inventive villain who is misunderstood by most fans.

2. Season 2-The series got much darker and the Darla arc brought some of the best and most shocking episodes of the series. Wolfram and Hart got more interesting this season, not to mention Drusilla got involved!

3. Season 5-While the first half was very weak in places, the second half was incredible with some of the darkest and most hilarious episodes of the series. Spike made for an excellent addition! Also Illyria, Hamilton, and the final battle for the gang were amazing!

4. Season 1-A great start with some amazing stand-alone episodes, like the ones with Faith, some hilarious ones, and inventive villains!

5. Season 3-While I loved the Darla/Angel/Connor arc, I was annoyed by Holtz and Justine's antics. But Wesley's descent into a dark character was flawlessly written.

That would have been great for maybe 2 seasons or so. Whedon shows tend to start off really strong but have a very short shelf life in terms of creativity. It's uncanny. Buffy was great for 3 seasons and died a horrible death after that. Angel lasted 2 seasons or so before it started getting really crappy. Most of the time this is due to some weird decision to alter the direction of the show. Buffy quickly went from the best funny tongue and cheek show ever made to this dreary and boring mess with awful storytelling.

Personally, I would have switched seasons 5 and 1 of Angel, seasons 4 and 5 of Buffy and seasons 6 and 7 of Buffy. Other than that, pretty accurate.

Buffy:
Seasons-

2/3- it's a tie, though the lameass snake gives 2 a slighter edge.:o
5- kinda lacked some umph, but it was still a good season.
4- boooring
7- started off well, but got way too inconsistent and took alot of the focus off the Scoobs as friends/family when they should've been closer together.
6- A magical crackhouse? Blow me, Marti.

Angel:

2-
4- Wasnt perfect, but I enjoyed it.
3- I didn't care for Connor or the Holtz stuff
5- too many standalone's. And they weren't even going to bother with Cordy until Sarah backed out. For shame.
1- I liked a few eps, but overall bleh.

The vid is gone now.

But here's mine: [YT]70-HznBP0z8[/YT]

epic.:o

I think my favorite Buffy fight scene was Angel vs. Riley. God, it felt great to see Angel beat the living **** out of that *****e.

LMAO!! That fight was hilarious!:woot:

Okay, not much going on here lately. Lets make this interesting: What are your top 10 episodes in the 254 episodes of the Buffyverse (144 episodes of Buffy and 110 episodes of Angel). I'll start this off...

10. The Gift (Buffy season 5): Season Five was easily one of my favorites, and this was a perfect ending to it.

9. Waiting in the Wings (Angel season 3): Possibly the only good thing to center on the opera ever.

8. Chosen (Buffy season 7): Bye Bye, Sunnydale. Great end to an amizing series.

7. Conversations with Dead People (Buffy season 7): Simply one of the best episodes in the seventh season.

6. A Hole in the World (Angel season 5): There has been alot of death of alot of characters I love on Buffy and Angel. None of them tore me up inside like watching Fred die. But, at the same time, we got Illyria, who was great.

5. Hush (Buffy season 4): Who would've thought that a silent movie episode could ever work? But it did. Brilliantly. Same goes for Once More, With Feeling.

4. Graduation Day part 1 (Buffy season 3): Best fight scene. EVER.

3. Graduation Day part 2 (Buffy season 3): The Best of all of Buffy's season finales.

2. Not Fade Away (Angel season 5): The absolute perfect series finale. End of story.

1. Smile Time (Angel season 5): This episode just makes me happy. And then, of course, I remember that the geniuses at The WB decide to cancel Angel at just five seasons. Then I get pretty sad...

Honorable mention: Hero (Byebye Doyle), I Will Remember You, Are You Now or Have You Ever Been, The Pylea episodes, Billy, Lullaby, Birthday, Apocalypse Nowish, Soulless, Life of the Party, You're Welcome (How the hell is this not in my top ten?!), Time Bomb, Dirty Girls (Caleb= scariest priest ever. Just look at what happened to Xander), The Pack (the first episode of Buffy I ever watched, so it has a place in my heart), Passion (Angelus is a badass), Band Candy, Earshot, Who Are You (Buffy as Faith, Faith as Buffy. Too good for words), The Body (On second thought, why isnt this on my top 10?), Dark Willow's episodes, The Killer in Me, Storyteller.

Did Firefly really win an emmy? I was in Borders today and it said "Emmy Award Winner" on the cover, which is weird because I had never seen that on the cover before, plus how could it have won an Emmy if it wasn't on that long.

Well it won one in 2003 for Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series.

Oh by the way Ripper has been confirmed and because it's being produced by the BBC and obviously made in the UK the WGA strike won't effect it.

ok my run down of best buffyverse

best episodes were Angel, Prophecy Girl, Becoming, Surprise/Innocence, Anne, Amends, Earshot, Passion, Band Candy and Chosen.
