Hating on Jim Lee's art is such old hat. Honestly, there's nothing wrong with it except for the over abundance of cross hatching.

And that overuse of cross hatching turns me off to his art. :down

also the horrible proportions and terrible design sense. but yeah **** that crosshatching.

Not enough cross-hatching. :o

He's not the worst artist ever though

That's probably Rob Liefield or Superstar Artist Pat Lee :csad:

He's actually toned down the crosshatching a lot (also, this is more the fault of the inker more than anyone else). His designs of late are pretty terrible but he was top of the game a few years ago.

i actually think batman got the best redesign of the dcnu, followed closely by aquaman.

Really? Cuz Batman looks bland and Aquaman has stupid, pointy, dishwashing gloves. :o

I think his art is boring. Souless really. I've heard some people use the words terrible, or even disgusting....I think those people are over doing it. Or those words don't mean what they think it means.

Batman is pretty much the same, without underpants and with some seams. Its weird but Lee's seams are actually better than the ones on the Inc suit. I like that they are thin and recessive rather than fat and protruding. It makes the suit look high tech and cool imho.

Aquaman is classic and you can never go wrong with classic.

It is but it's also spectacular and it fits a book like JL. Its also simple and "superheroic" so new readers will love it. I doubt they'd appreciate weird stylistic artists like Quitely or Nguyen. Not just yet at least.

And that's what they want with that book. To give new readers a Michael Bay kind of spectacle to get them on board.

I agree that Lee's art is lifeless, but when it comes to superheroes i think he's more suited for the job than someone like Burnham. Even though he has great technique and skills, his style isnt for this kind of story. I dont know, is there someone with Lee's kind of statuest style that manages to not be lifeless?

To the Lee-haters, what do you think of Ryan Ottley's art?

I guess everyone's opinion is different. I thought Quitely was garbage on The Authority compared to the beautiful work of his predecessor, Bryan Hitch. Looked up Nguyen and I'm not a fan of his style.

Sooner or later the classic superheroic style of Lee or Finch gets boring and you come to appreciate weird styles, especially when they fit the story. I think Nguyen fits Batman. Quitely fit B&R. Burnham would too, but i wouldnt want him on something like JL or Detective Comics.

But if they re not your cup of tea anyway, you should check out Chiang and Frazer Irving. They are among my favourites.

I be missing Aquaman's water hand at the moment I'm kind of disappointed that he didn't get it back for the redesign

The missing hand was always a huge turn off for me. I think he's fine now with both hands.

His limb was intact.....it was just made of water.

Besides, whats the point of having intact limbs if he's just gonna cover them up with ugly ass dishwashing gloves?

I would have rather they ditched the gloves, and kept the gold bands. It was the perfect Aquaman look. (Enhanced by the Water hand.)

The Hobbit trailer is online, I...I feel like i'm back home. :wow::woot:

I thought he replaced his missing hand with a hand made from water powers like Mera's. I guess i was wrong.

Agreed about the gold bands.
