I've never had any problems with my PS3 (other than the PSN) and I've had it since 08.

Good for you, I know people that have a 360 they bought at launch that still hasn't RROD them. I also know 3 of my friends that got the less infamous YLOD on their PS3's. I can only go by personal experience. If I could afford a PS3, I would buy one, but mostly because I need a Blu-Ray player for my room.:o

That's what I mostly use my PS3 for, multimedia. I do own several games but for the most time its used for Blu-rays and now, Netflix.

I use mine for Blu-Rays and whatever games have exclusive content. For some reason, Sony is way better at obtaining worthwhile exclusives, even on multi-platform releases, than Microsoft is. I'm getting LA Noire for my PS3, even though I kind of hate it now, because I figure I might as well get the extra mission they're offering with it.

On the other hand, HBOGo is pretty damn amazing. All HBO shows, every season, every episode in the palm of you hand? Amazing. I'm watching Band of Brothers and then Oz, same show really.

:atp:

That sounds pretty amazing Darth does it cost much

That was the thing that really put me over the edge. My 360 died and Microsoft sent me a refurbished one free of charge. My PS3 died and Sony wanted me to pay almost the price of a whole new one just to send it in and have it looked at. F*** that. I just bought a new PS3 instead. If this one fails, that's it; I'm done with Sony. I'll miss Uncharted and some of the other exclusives, but not enough to warrant dealing with Sony's bulls*** anymore.

Wow that really sucks :csad: charging you that much just to take a look at the PS3 is ridiculous

Neither has mine but I've heard of numerous problems with other PS3 owners.

Frankly this debunks the myth of the Japanese Quality Ethic. I've been seeing it in a lot of their industry, from toys to electronics:

- I import Transformers from Japan from time to time to get the alternate shiny paint jobs Japanese consumers apparently love. TakaraTomy, the company that makes these toys used to have this reputation for quality but about toy months ago I imported a TakaraTomy Voyager and Deluxe. The Voyager was broken IN packaging and that is painful especially when you consider how much a Voyager costs.

- My current laptop, a Toshiba Satellite needed to be sent for reformatting after I apparently "corrupted" my harddisk after barely 2 weeks of use.

- A LEXT microscope we bought for our lab came from a Japanese company and we had numerous problems during the set-up. It was a pain in the ass trying to troubleshoot it over Skype with a Japanese woman who spoke passable conversation level English but lacked in technical jargon.

- Not anything related to me but the whole Toyota Recall thing was a bit of a black eye especially since Toyota essentially set the gold standard for Lean manufacturing and Quality assurance.

Its kind of sad to see how Japan's industry is slipping in its once untouchable standards. But seeing as how China and Taiwan seem to be filling up the gaps, no one seems to care.

This situation is different from just going down due to ****** maintence or whatever. They're basically under siege by a group of hackers with a grudge, and that's why PSN has been down for as long as they have been.

Hulu Plus doesn't play ads, allows HD viewing, allows handheld device viewing, and doesn't make episodes expire. But it's still subject to some wacky licensing bulls*** with the studios that results in weird things like only having certain seasons of various shows, as Tron mentioned. Personally, I don't mind the ads now that Hulu's actually learning to target me (i.e. showing me mostly video game ads and those badass Mayhem AllState ads), I don't care about watching random sitcoms and TV shows in HD, I don't really feel a need to watch Hulu on my phone when there are like a billion other things to do on it, and I actually watch shows pretty regularly, so expiration dates aren't an issue for me. So, to make a long story short: ripoff.

No, it still has ads :(

My 360 died, and I had to pay as much to fix it as when my PS3 died :csad:

I read something a few weeks ago that the whole "OMG MY BRAKES!" deal was hugely overblown and the cases that set off the whole pandemonium might not have even been legit. There was a problem but it wasn't like you were actually risking life or death every time you stepped into your Camry.

Actually, it is **** maintenance. If you own a network and provide a service part of maintenance is to make sure someone with a grudge or just for the lolz hacks that network and interrupts service. If some hackers took down Comcast's network I'd be like "Yo Comcast, what's up, you're supposed to stop **** like that happening!" in a sternly written letter as I could not write an e-mail.

Kotaku is saying PSN might not be back 100% until Memorial Day.

In part, I guess, but it's not like it's just down for no other reason than being a crappy service like you're making out. I've played on both Live and PSN, and both have played relatively the same for me.

I enjoy playing in complete silence on PSN.

You know, Netflix still works on the PS3. I just found that s**t out yesterday.

Well I don't know if they changed it but at first it wouldnt let me go on Netflix without signing into my PSN. Then I found a way of getting into Netflix without doing that.

Hey, the common consumer will always find a reason to sue the pants off the evil, nameless, faceless, foreign corporation.

And having been in the game as long as they have been, Toyota should have detected this oversight no matter how non-fatal it was just to spare themselves the grief of a hundred unnecessary court cases.

If still says that you have to sign in, just attempt to sign in two or three times and it will play anyway.

Fact is, we coulda been watching it all this time. :(

Really? That's cool. I tried to not too long after this first started but couldn't get in.

Well, I always muted my mic whenever I played a game on Live, so I guess I do, too :o

You just don't appreciate the screeching of a group of 12 year olds when playing COD. The back and forth telling them to shut up, them making an even more annoying noise, you screaming at them, someone else screaming for everyone to shut up, the one guy playing a ****** rap song over his mic and that's only in the lobby.

Yep, my appreciation of that is not high.

Well, that's good to know. I've been using the 360 for that since I got a free month after my system died. If PSN isn't up by then, at least there's that.

That's true, but it seems like Toyota's numbers are still as good as ever.

I've spent most of my time playing games. (And I have plenty of time.) This whole thing hasn't affected me at all.

My Toyota was never part of the recall, thankfully. I don't think I would've really cared if it were unless I actually, personally had my brakes not work a couple times, though. I'm a very apathetic car owner.

I don't envy their Legal people though. Or Sony's for that matter. Must be a nightmare for them right about now.
