I have no quarrel with Shia....weird name aside, he's done decent enough and all the internet hate is squarely that....the internet hates him, hell Theater Hopper devoted a whole week to just hating him

In regards to GL bombing, Darth is probably right that it won't, but there's definitely potential for it to under perform at the BO. I read something about a week ago about how it's overbudget and was behind schedule for quite some, several estimates are putting the budget at something like $300 million. So, yeah, it'll probably manage to break even, but it's going to have to pull in a lot to be considered a success.

Damn you're right I read the same thing. It would have to have a huge opening to make it's money back. I'm talking about $150 million 3 day weekend and I don't see it making that type of money. I see it making $50-60 million and then you have the inevitable 60% drop the next weekend.

$300 f***ing million? Geez, well now I suspect there may be some chance of it bombing after all...

I remember Corp calling me after he saw Crystal Skull and he was like "Damn Darth (He calls me Darth in real life as a sign of respect) Shia Labeef was amazing in this movie. You should have seen him swinging with some monkeys. That boy can act. I hope they make more movies with him, he was awesome as a greaser!"
That is a bold-faced lie, everyone. Do not believe this man and his lies. I said no such thing about Senor Beef, nor will I ever! Libel! Libel! :argh:

Good thing I have this audio recording of the conversation.

I mean, I think the actual production budget was closer to $200 million (though I think it was originally supposed to be $150 million) and then you have the added cost of advertising and whatnot.

Man, you know I'm sitting here and I can't think of many big time directors that are still doing consistent work. I mean, Peter Jackson maybe? James Cameron is stuck in Avatar. Nolan is doing work I guess.

anything James Cameron does going forward is considered **** You Money

dude has the #1 and #2 grossing movies of all time.....id film my dog taking a **** and put it in 3D...just to do it

James Cameron is a great director who puzzles me. None of his movies were all that great. Titanic was a decent romance set against a historical backdrop, Avatar was an average sci fi movie with amazing visuals. Yet both made an ungodly amount of money and received heaping helpings of both positive word of mouth and critical praise. My mind, it is boggled.

Yeah but now you have up and comers really cornering the market. Favreau, Abrams, Snyder where are the Michael Manns and The Scott Brothers, Spielberg, Zemeckis, Howard? They seem to be happy producing movies and making ****** movies lately.

Fincher, I'd add.

Indeed. You know who I think would make a pretty good comic book movie, Martin Scorsese.

with Titanic he got the wimmen on his side, pretty faced Leo and some romance...and you had *****es going to see that **** 10-12 times

with Avatar, he tricked the GA into watching sci-fi and made them feel smart with a pedestrian story but groundbreaking visuals

but the average drooling movie goer didn't know any better....they just didn't want to get left out of the water cooler talk

sheep...the lot of you, sheep!!!!!

:argh:

I'd rather watch a movie in IMAX now than 3-D. The only movie I'm going to see in 3-D this year is Transformers.

I don't believe it's your MO. Otherwise, why would you call attention to it being your opinion?

The Avatar internet blacklash is overrated IMO.

How so? I liked Avatar, I thought the effects were great. At the same time I saw the movie in both 3-D and regular 2-D and let me tell you, 3-D added nothing. Also, it was a good movie, but should not have been anywhere near an awards show.
