So... you judge the original by his super-exaggerated parody? I, um... I think there may be a flaw in your reasoning there...

True. Dr. Strange certainly doesn't slap enough supervillains.

So Cars 2 is a commentary on Oil and fossil fuel in general with Larry the Cable Guy as the protagonist.

Kung Fu Panda 2 better win the oscar this year!

Disney is making Planes spin-off thats set in the same universe, more toys from Mickey Mouse.

Ugh. If Pixar wants to keep making sequels, we need an Incredibles 2, damn it. :cmad:

Just got back from seeing Green Lantern and I liked it. I thought it was just as good as Iron Man 2 and Thor.

What is wrong with critics?

:hal: :hal: :hal:

Yeah because you liked it that means the majority of critics must be wrong. Iron Man 2 was pretty bad by the way, I equate Thor more with the first Iron Man.

I'm not saying they're wrong per se. I just think that everything has turned into Bad or Good. There's no in between on movies and that's disturbing.

:hal: :hal: :hal:

Hasn't that always been the way critics work? People read reviews to decide whether to watch a movie, meaning they're looking for a definitive good or bad conclusion in them. If anything, the emphasis on numerical scores in the internet age has just reduced the nuance of reviews down to what people were looking for anyway: "good" or "bad," period.

Well, I enjoyed it. Was a nice popcorn flick. I'd suggest seeing it and I hope that this piling on that the critics are doing doesn't hurt the chances for a sequel.

I'd rather see this than any of the millions of Medea movies or Scary Movies.

I'd rather watch paint dry than the millions of Madeas or Scary Movies...

Which is what people say about terrible movies. It was a nice popcorn flick is the go to phrasing. It's what pretty much anyone who enjoys Transformers says about the movie. We understand they're **** but we enjoy them because....

They're pretty good popcorn flicks

What if you don't look for anything more than just a fun movie? Is "popcorn flick" such a bad thing? It's friggin' Green Lantern, not Shakespeare.

Shakespeare's a joke too, by the way.

there is room in cinema for all types of films......not every director needs to set out and change the world

Yes because Martin Campbell, DC Comics and WB didn't set out to make a popcorn movie, they ****ed up. Michael Bay makes popcorn movies.

I'm all for popcorn flicks but from the get go not as an end result.

What did they set out to make? Are you saying Green Lantern was intended to be Oscar bait? Or an indie arthouse film?
