What did they set out to make? Are you saying Green Lantern was intended to be Oscar bait? Or an indie arthouse film?

A better movie than what was given. I'm sure they didn't sit around and say "Hey, lets make a popcorn flick."

My point is being lost in all this anyway. When someone likes a movie that others don't, they tend to fall back on "It's a good popcorn flick." It's pretty much just a euphemism for terrible movie that I happened to like.

I actually agree but then Nolan happened to comic book movies and that flipped the ****ing script on expectations.

It's the trend though. WB dropped the ball with GL. I mean Marvel has stepped it's game up tremendously with their movies (though I thought Iron Man 2 was a step back) as a result of Batman. They knew they couldn't get away with hiring the Brett Ratner and Tim Story's of the world.

I think Cap looks like it could be the best of the Marvel movies so far even better than Iron Man maybe

I could see it look wise but in presence I can't see it. He has kind of an annoying voice too. I don't know I always read Dr. Strange as Dr. Orpheus so it maybe that.

I don't think the world is ready for that much gravel voiced testosterone in one movie.

Jason Stathams cop movie Blitz got some good reviews. Seeing Statham hunt down and kick Little Finger from Game Of Thrones ass seems to be popular.

Funny, I preach this everytime I hear people rip into a movie so I very much agree. Besides, I'm the only person in the galaxy who doesn't love them so they must be good movies. Just bored me to tears

Saw GL last night. I greatly enjoyed it, and I don't see how it was so bad. Also, rereading the debate I was in the other night, I realize that I didn't share the same definition of "popcorn flick" with Darth.

if I knew nothing about the GL comics and saw the film, Id probably enjoy it....but considering I am a huge fan of the GL comics and their mythology....I felt like Martin Campbell came into my house, took a dump, and clogged the toilet
