so, i watched waiting for superman last night, good watch but i hate when documentarys are quite as one sided with an obvious agenda as this. either way though, the current tenure policy for public school teachers is the single most economically crippling policy in america.

I saw it as well, while some people think it is very anti teacher, I saw it as anti the system that produces substandard teachers and yes tenure is totally ******ed

kids learn drastically different from even 15 years ago, teachers have to adjust for that

i dunno, the kids learn differently thing seems like kind of a cop-out to me. "little johny can't learn because he watches too much tv"...well, then stop him from watching so much damn tv. rote memorization works just as well as it has since forever, people just don't want to be held responsible for doing it. but kids can't learn what it is they need to memorize or comprehend in a system handcuffed to incompetent employees

university professors most likely do, but the way they qualify for it is much more stringent. tenure says that once a teacher has worked for x number of years, i think currently it's 2, then firing them becomes a next to impossible task.

but rote memorization isn't the only way IMO.....other options need to be explored in order for each kid to have a chance

Why do you not want Talia or Black Mask in the film Lix do you not like those characters

because they're non-characters? the only time talia has been portrayed as anything other than a honey trap for batman she's been a psycho rapist. and black mask is the worst of the batman mirror penguin clone characters
