I loved the music in Watchmen. I've heard people say something about Hallelujah playing during that sex scene in the owlmobile, but the song is in fact about f**king.

exactly....my two personal favorites are The Sounds of Silence playing during Comedians funeral and I'm your Boogie Man playing during Dans flashback

I loved the Times they are a changing during the beginning. Best beginning to any superhero movie ever.

I am not a huge Bob Dylan fan but I thought that was a damn good choice for the opening

Weren't they pretty much in the same places that the comic placed them?

:ff: :ff: :ff:

The ones that were in the comic, I think, but I'm pretty sure he added several more. Plus, it just didn't translate well to me. Music numbers can be great, but you have to be kind of tepid with them.

The only one i recall matching up like the book was All along the Watchtower.
I really wanted to hear that Iggy Pop song 'Neighbourhood Threat' which plays through the knottop's ghettoblaster when Dan is walking home the first time.
there was a Billy holiday one 'You're my thrill' that pplayed in the owl ship i thought they would use too.

some people have complained that the songs were too famous, and maybe obvious, but i read someone on a message board saying that they had to be famous songs, to go along with the fact that we were watching an alternate history, songs that marked the time in which they were written, Boogie Man for the 70s, Sounds of silence being a famous 60s song(i know they did not play it in the 60s setting, but still), 99 Red Balloons for the 80s...
Boogie man/riot scene is one of my fav superhero movie moments ever, the first time i saw it i was a bit wtf?! it is not the kind of tune you imagined playing over that scene when you read the book, as it was a bit grim, but it kind of makes it funny in the movie, the Comedian kicking the crap out of people to disco music.
The opening was amazing too with the Dylan song as you say, I sometimes sit and think, 'holy moses, if they had taken the money they used to film all of those scenes for the credits, they could have filmed more of the book!', lol, it is amazing how much trouble they went to for the opening credits.
Sometimes when watching the movie I will skip the credits though, as I like the effect of seeing the yellow smiley badge being panned down on and then zoomed right back from, which you can just catch if you time your dvd ff button just right.

Yeah, Manhatten's origin was amazing, it also has the best line that was not in the book, 'I feel fear....for the last time..'

Pretty much best opening credits scene to ANY film this century.

I don't know, if everybody's pissed, maybe your opinion just sucks. :o :p

Lol, maybe. But the music that I saw/heard was nothing but that generic sounding indie rock where all the members have gauged ears and wear tight pants and sing in whiny nasally voices. Not my kinda music at all, and all of it really sucked. And now, i've pissed off the Comm. department because they put so much effort into making it happen...and I didn't like it. Me not liking it means that those who put said effort into it suck too apparently.

Are you a part of the Comm department or whatever? Cuz if not, then you know, f**k em.

or you could have been a bit more diplomatic...like "hey good effort on pulling things together but I didn't like the music all that much"

Yeah, tact goes a long way. You can still voice your opinion without crapping over someones hard work.

Well, I did commend their efforts. It was a very well organized event, and everyone involved was on top of their game. And hell, the food they had was ass-kicking. Again, I just thought the music, and only the music, sucked. And again, it was an off-the-cuff facebook comment. It wasn't like i went out of my way to bash them.

I am part of the comm. department, but I'm a film major. My college comm. department's big thing is TV and Radio however, and the film club has had it's fair share of trouble with them, between professors trash talking us, or TV people spreading nonsense about us. It's almost like the stereotypical "Jock vs geek" thing. The Film Club gets the shaft alot, unfortunately.

well then it just seems like some unnecessary drama then, it's not like it really affects anything real...just makes some things awkward, it'll be fine

Of course there's the 5% possibility that for one of them, this comment was the last straw and he'll kidnap you and skin you alive and make a dress out of your skin. Other than that, Meh.

it's college so they would use his skin for cargo pants or a messenger bag, not a dress

Ah yes, I forgot to factor that in. Good lookin' out BL.

Yea, it feels very High School-ish, and alot of the TV people are like that. So Monday'll be interesting.

However, I'm a bit too skinny for a dress. And cargo pants. I'm sure they could use the skin of my legs to make some tight pants, since they all seem to be into that. :awesome:

i'd wait till it looks like they're going to start something, then start some **** about something completely different

turns out public deification is considered indecent exposure in most places now. took me by surprise too.

I do find it is a very clear way to send a message...nothing says "go f*** yourself" quite like a nice log sitting on your desk

I thought about abruptly breaking down into a whacky dance to show that I'm crazy and not to be messed with, like in that episode of Hey! Arnold.

Indeed. However, I don't know the access code to the TV Club office. I COULD always invite them into the Film Club office and then whip open the mini-fridge that wreaks like ass, and have them puke on each other.
