Natalie Portman's character seems so generic there is no way she can ruin the movie.
Natalie Portman's character should've been a ditzy moron, just like the comics' Jane. "Golly," she'd think to herself in a voice-over, "Dr. Blake hobbled off just before Thor showed up to save me! I would love Don with all my heart, even though he is lame, if he weren't such a coward all the time!"

Poor form Jane. The man has a goddamn cane and you call him lame.

Getting sucked into Sif's soul and disappearing was the best thing that ever happened to her. :o

Serves her right for making fun of the slightly handicapped.

she was good as generic girlfriend girl in the mighty avenger:csad:

She was basically a different character in The Mighty Avenger, just as in the movie.

Sif's always totally better than her, though. Always.

Being a TV screenwriter in America these days must be the easiest job around you just watch a British show Americanize it and then count your money

The problem with this is sometimes you screw up big time and create a horrific abortion of the original material, like American-Skins.

I wonder how these adaptation pitches actually go. "I've got a great idea for a show! You see, there's this British show called..."

You're right. We should be more original like you lot and make 12,000 Victorian costume dramas every year. :oldrazz:

Think of British TV as a sort of testing ground for shows. If it's good enough, then it'll be brought over to the audience that actually matters.

Except its usually the British show's creator that decides to bring it over. Because they found out they love money.

My knowledge of how British shows come to the US is based entirely on Episodes. :o

American TV has something that British TV doesn't: funding. We actually have enough money to make more than 6 episodes per year of our popular shows. Hell, our cable networks have enough money to make more episodes than that of animated shows, and cartoons bleed money without a decent toy line.

Lies. Everyone knows Brits stick to 6-episode seasons series because they're all artsy-fartsy and don't want to milk concepts dry. It's a badge of honor! :o

Yes, you can tell Ricky Gervais felt perfectly satisfied with the 13 episodes of The Office he made in the UK over the course of 2 series. I'm sure he didn't shout "F*** that, I'm going America and milking these comedic teet drier than an elderly Saharan ****e!"

Ricky Gervais is an uncommonly crass Englishman.

Yeah, the UK is known for never going overboard with anything and stretching it out way, way, WAY past the time it should've ended.

Isn't that right, Hong Kong?

Sif does not insult the handicapped with cruel names

Also she looks fab in the movie. She is a god I would worship :awesome:

This reminds me of the time that McG was making an Americanized Spaced. I'm glad it's dead.

Hardy only two network really make costume dramas the BBC and Itv and thats mainly because they can sell them to other countries who love that kind of stuff.

I'm not bashing American shows alot of my favourite shows like The Wire are American I'm just surprised at how much British TV the U.S is remaking at the moment.

There are plenty of people in Hong Kong who would actully still rather it was a British Conoly than apart of China. I mean apart from turning the island into an international trade port, creating good British based educational system and British Law system, set up international super bank HSBC as well as a large maunfacting and indusrty and a safe haven for thousands of chinese who fled the civil war on the mainland to live there.

Plus if China didn't like it they shouldn't of signed the treaty. We gave it back to them and in the end as well as in the hand over we signed a treaty so that for atleast 50 years afterwards Hong Kong could remain semi-independent with its own laws and governed by a special administrave board. These are things that people in Taiwan or Tibet would kill for and china is never going to give them.

The funny thing is the guy who created Heroes forgot his name actully said American shows should have shorter seasons so the writers don't have to stretch with weak filler episodes.

About 10 or 12 episodes a season unless its something like 24 or grays anatomy.

Who here honestly doesn't think some shows would work better with shorter seasons which are thought out and planned better instead of the weak episodes padding out the network ordered run.
