The Video Game Thread

Yeah, that looks pretty sweet. Too bad it was canceled.

Whatever they do, I hope it's an open world concept like the GTA games. I could spend hours just endlessly zooming through Metropolis. I can remember doing that in the Shadow of Apokolips game on Gamecube. It was great, even though the actual game was just ok.

I would love to have a Superman game like Arkham Asylum.

Shadow of Apokolips was pretty good...even Superman Returns:The Videogame had a few good ideas

The good stuff starts at 3:12:

HOURS I spent doing this...

Do you think that there's going to be a game inspired by the movie?

^ Most likely...

I'd be surprised if there WASN'T. Who knows, maybe they'll adapt and finish off that cancelled game...?

It will most likely suck. Especially if it's made by SEGA. Would much rather have a non movie Superman game like AA.

The williams march in that game that wasn't a donner love game. And guess what its ****ing awesome.

^^ this.

most movie tie-in games suck. I don't want that treatment for a new Superman game.

I want the same love and care that Rocksteady put into AA and AC given to a new Superman game.

if that means a non-movie games, then so be it........

What would an AA-like Superman game be about anyway?

I thought this was the video game forum for a second. lol I was like "How did I get here?!"

I got this one for Christmas in 1988...

Horrible. This did convince me that Superman is just not a character that lends himself towards video games if your are still somewhat staying true to this powers and not vastly reducing it... The only thing that might work is basing a Superman game on the early Golden Age.

I think they should go away from the action approach and design a game more in the line of "Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter". where you investigate on cases and use your powers in rather creative ways. Of course modern video games are usually dumbed down and don't require thinking anymore.

^ That looks like Superman got lost in the land of the Super Mario Bros.

I like the idea of Clark investigating potential stories that could probably act like missions.

To make a truly great Superman game, it'd need to have a larger scale than most games have at the moment.
You can't confine him to a single city because you could casually fly threw it in minutes. Plus his powers go from human levels to absolutely huge so it'd be a difficult task.
I'm not sure they could pull it off at the minute, even with the amazing, massive worlds modern games create.

The funny thing is that you can switch between Clark and Superman by going into phone booths. The dumb thing is that Superman cannot just fly to a location you have to turn back to Clark since Superman can apparently not use the subway... :woot:

I love the idea of making an awesome game based in the Superman Universe. Something unrelated to any Movie because movie games always suck. However, making a Superman game that is on the same level as Arkham Asylum seems like an impossible task. Superman can do too much so what challenges can you possibly present to him? The only idea that I could come up with that would make sense is that it is a game that focuses on Smallville or early years... That way maybe he hasn't developed all of his powers, also they would be watered down so he isn't over powered. Then as you progress through the game you get new powers and get more powerful... but I don't know.

They should do an Arkham City-style game using Cavill's Superman IMO

I got another idea for a game, how about the main story arc is that someone, Probably Lex Luthor, finds a way to turn the sun's rays red or block out the rays that give Superman his abilities. Or something along those lines. The point being it de-powers the Man of Steel. He wouldn't be completely powerless, he still has enough energy stored in his body to be super human, but weak enough to where Superman is much more vulnerable than he normally is. Some of his powers are failing him, he progressively shows signs that he is losing his powers. The point of the game is to try and stop Luthor in his plans and this is made even more difficult because a roster of Superman villains are in on this knowing that Superman is vulnerable.

^ That's not a bad idea and the sunlight energy Supes stored is your life bar.

That's a real cop-out in fairness though.
A weakened Superman for an entire game until the end where you get back to normal when it ends? Bad idea IMO.

Would you want to play a Batman game while losing your fight skills and gadgets?
Or a Green Lantern game where your ring can only do one or two things?

Wouldn't it make more sense for Superman to fly through the subway?
Silly game designers.:oldrazz:
