I thought the speed force took care of all that sonic boom stuff?
It basically turns the Speed Force into "the thing that does whatever"
Sometimes? I mean, I've read that, but it's applied super inconsistently. Regardless, that's really stupid. It basically turns the Speed Force into "the thing that does whatever" instead of a specific thing with defined abilities and limitations. It also seems kind of pointless to me.
The Flash can't move at supersonic or light speed even if he'c capable of it if he's within a city. If he's going at top speed within a city, the wind, friction, heat, and sonic booms he'd leave in his wake would destroy the city. He has to keep at subsonic speeds within a populated area or risk hurting innocent people.
Also, it kind of depends on how his speed works more than what his top speed. Is he simply capable of accelerating to super or light speed, or can he stand in one place and still passively think and move that fast? Because if it's only the former, than going too fast risks overshooting and missing his target entirely.
That's pretty much what the speed force is; Remember when his costume was just "made of speedforce"?
It pretty well that is what it is, its something that Flash break the laws of physics at his discretion. So Flash can move at faster then the speed of light and not cause sonic booms in the city, because of the speed force. Flash has a bunch of over the top feats when it comes to speed force tricks, with Flash being able to steal speed from others, vibrate through tings and one time the speed force saved Flash's life when a bullet was about to kill, by slowing everything down.
The speed force has made Flash such an over the top game breaker, that its hard for almost any villain besides Zoom to be a realistic challenge to him, they really have to done down his powers in the TV show, the 90s show limited his speed to make the villains more believable threats, I really think they should do that here.
Yeah. I don't like that. What the Speed Force is and does should begin and end at "is is fuel source and is why running that fast doesn't kill him." Everything else added onto it always made my eyes roll.
Except for the pseudo-religious stuff. That would be kind of interesting when done properly. But the speed force constructs and whatnot were pointlessly silly.
Or, just take out the part where the side effects of running that fast are negated. Say that he's capable of breaking the sound barrier, but he never does so within a populated area because the side effects would level the environment and kill hundreds if not thousands of people. That's why his villains can challenge him within the city limits, because he's handicapped there.
Also, make it clear that he can't passively stand around and simply "exist" and super sonic or near-light speeds. He can accelerate to those kinds of speeds, and he does have enhanced reflexes up to a point, put charging at an enemy too fast runs the risk over over-shooting.
It's not that hard to have him able to break the sound barrier and have his enemies still pose a threat.
I think that they would be smart to tie Cold's origin in with Killer Frost's, like have him be responsible for her powers. Having 2 ice themed villains with unrelated origins would seem too coincidental. Also, I'd like to see Boomerang vs Arrow, I think their archaic ranged weapons would be an interesting match up. Mirror Master should control holograms and such, but please no mirror-dimensions. That'd be too much of a stretch.
Also on a side note, Weather Wizard's FX look great, but I hope they give him a better outfit eventually. I know this is just an origin story, but it seems like most of the bad guys on Arrow are all dudes in black jackets and dark clothes. I hope that trend doesn't carry over to Flash. At least give him a green coat or something.
Victor Fries, Icecycle...
I hope to God not.
Black Flash showing up usually means a speedster's going to die, so no thanks...
